Chapter 200 A battle for control (The End).
Avalor POV

While I waited to see who exactly was going to take over from the Lion, hoping that I was the one, I thought my mom had already forgotten everything, and my argument was more than enough reason for her to stop and ditch whatever she wanted to do. But I guess I was just deceiving myself. I was just thinking otherwise.

I came back to the office only to see that the main hall was deserted. I looked around, surprised. Then I pulled one of my colleague's clothes.

"What is going on? Where is everyone? Why is everywhere so empty? What's going on?" I questioned as he looked at me a bit scared.

"Ms. Melissa did not come to the office today, and the board members have made the decision to remove her from being the CEO and putting someone else in. I think it's you," he said to me, and before I could say anything, he rushed upstairs, leaving me alone.

I felt so frustrated. I felt like slamming something. My mom just doesn't know when to stop. I felt so angered, but I tried my best to calm myself down as I raced to the elevator, rushing to get to the meeting. I won't let my mom do anything stupid.

As I ran quickly and got in front of the meeting, I opened the door instantly, rushing to see that all the board members were already busy, and my mom was actually standing in front of Melissa's seat.

"Mom!" I yelled, unable to control my voice as she looked at me.

"Don't you ever yell at me like that anymore. I am busy, and as you can see, we are in a meeting and we need silence for us to concentrate," she said as I felt so angered.

I looked at all the board members, even the ones I thought were innocent; they were clearly opposed to Melissa. Melissa trusted them, and yet this is what they are doing. Oh God. How am I going to stop this? How am I even going to cope with this company? I know my mom just wants me to take over so she can't be in charge. She always just wanted what Grandfather had, and I don't know how to stop her anymore.

I rushed towards her and held her hand as I whispered, "Mom, stop it," I said through gritted teeth as she laughed and then slapped my hand away, picking up the remote on the desk as she turned on the screen.

"As you can see here, this is footage from the day of Melissa's accident. It exploded. She had enemies who wanted her dead," my mom began as I felt even more frustrated. Why was she doing this?

Then she clicked on the remote again. "And this was an image of yesterday. Yes, yesterday Melissa collapsed. This girl is a living corpse, and you guys still make her the CEO? She literally could not get herself together when she came back to find out her grandfather was dead. Do you think she's in the right mental state to take care of anything in this company? Look at this. This is a perfect example that she can't do anything. She is useless. That is why you have to take Akim. Ever since she vanished from the company, despite the urgency yesterday, Akim has been the only one who has been taking care of things. Please, if you are supporting my son to be the next CEO rightfully, please stand up and give me your support," my mom said as I felt a knot of words. Nothing I could say could make any sense to me.

Just then, the door opened, and Melissa walked in. Thank God. Oh, I just hope she doesn't do anything stupid. Thank God she came in time to stop my mom.

Melissa POV

"Did you really mean what you just said?" I asked Richard as he nodded, sitting beside me on the hospital bed.

"So Eve is sick. Not just any kind of sickness but chronic cancer. And she's trying to kill you. Really, Richard? And you were able to trick her? I just hope she doesn't find out," I said, feeling a mix of concern and disbelief.

"But yet why does it surprise me so much to know that Eve is sick? If she is so sick, then why is she greedy for everything? Why does she literally want everything?" I said to Richard as he shrugged.

"I also don't know what her problem is. I don't know what's wrong with her. She literally wants me dead. And I know the perfect way of getting her back in her position. I know that right now she will be chasing my car, thinking I am in it. But I already knew what she wanted. I knew she would not just let me leave with her secret so easily. Please, we have to be careful. We have to leave this hospital before she's able to trace me to your room. I was able to play smart with her, but I don't think I'll be able to do it forever. And besides, I don't think she even has up to three weeks in this life. I don't know what she wants anymore. She literally looks drained. She looks like someone who is lifeless, with no life anymore in her body," Richard said to me as I smiled.

"It is good since she is in a position like that. As long as she does not attempt to do anything to us, she can die for all I care. But another thing I just found out. Richard, what did you do to Aaron? You killed him. Why? What if he was not the one who actually orchestrated the accident?" I said to him, my voice filled with concern.

He laughed. "Did you even listen to yourself? Do you even know the kind of person Aaron is? Aaron is not somebody you can actually say he did not do something. He was literally bad. He threatened you. The security footage claimed he threatened you."

Richard tried to explain to me, but all I could do was just fake a smile. "He threatened me, but he did not have any plan yet to kill me. We have to go to the office now, like this morning. It can't pass today," I insisted.

As he quickly held onto my hand, he said, "Come on, Melissa, I don't want you stressing yourself again. Do you know what we have ahead of us? We just have to keep your dad's company in check and then get married and just live our life. For the past months now, we have been going from one headache to another. We are unable to rest, continuous trouble, and I don't want us to be in a situation like that again. I am tired of running and fighting. It's time for us to rest."

I held his hand with my other hand too, hoping to reassure him. "Yes, it is time for us to rest, but just as much as it is time for us to rest, Beatrice does not think the same thing."

I said to him as he looked at me, confused. I pulled out the tablet and threw it to him as he turned it on, playing the video. The security footage showed that it was Beatrice who threw something at my car, and after that, something was blinking from beneath according to the shadow, and when I entered, it exploded.

"She just did not put it in the right place."

Richard looked at me, surprised, as he stood up. "She wanted you dead," he muttered as I nodded.

"Yes, because she wants Avalor to take over. From the looks of it, I don't think Avalor is such a bad person, but she is forcing him. We have to stop this. We have to stop her now. Please. We have to go to the office," I pleaded with him as he nodded.

"I won't let her take everything from you. Even if it's this once, she has to lose."
