Chapter 163 Lobby rumble.
The wave shot forward from her body, and snaked through everyone and knocked the inquisitor who had his boots on Jacob's neck away. Melissa was now better at controlling her aura when she transformed it into something physical. Just as the inquisitor was knocked back a wave of darkness covered Jacob and he dissolved from reality only to appear beside Joyce.
Melissa looked at the inquisitor who had told hiper they do not take others and just stepped back allowing Jenese to take over. They'd already discussed this and h3'd made Melissa promise that she wasn't going to overreact and she would let him do the talking. He said she was prone to overreaction so Melissa recently decided to be a better person and a bigger queen.
She knew if she acted rashly, her entire court would follow and that meant some people would disappear mysteriously, someone would be frozen deep in ice and others would have their body designed by claws. She didn't want a commotion to spread on her account so she stepped back and allowed Jenese to speak with his species. Though she still didn't thoroughly trust Jenese, she had no choice.
“Good afternoon Inquisitor Traz,” Jenese greeted the stout man.
Traz chuckled in return. “Jenese?” He said with indignation. “Permit me to ask what you are hoping to accomplish with this little stunt you are pulling?” He asked with a smile on his face.
“On the contrary sir, we haven't been pulling any stunts. You came in here int9 the headquarters of the entire Sentinel forces and took a hostage of their captain and then pointed a gun at the queen and her court. Permit me to remind you of the sixteenth paragraph of our guidebook.” He said. “The inquisition is a body developed to support the ruling body and in no way disrespect it,”
“I have read the books boy,” he said. “Do not quote it to me,” he walked forward. “The book said a lot of things but it didn't tell me to know down to a twenty one year old girl playing dress up,” he said. “I am not here for trouble, I am here for the criminal right there,” he pointed towards Joyce.
“She has been granted bail and I have the paperwork here, go back to whence you came at once,”, Melissa said, trying to sound a bit old by handing an older form of their language but it only sounded funny to Melissa.
“The inquisition did anticipate that we might meet with obstructive and hostile forces. Our orders are to retrieve the criminal through any means necessary,” he said. “Safety off, boys,” he said.
Even though he had merely a dozen men here he was confident enough to threaten the entire Sentinels in the building. Melissa made another mental note in her head. She really needed a better working council, there was no way she could capture everything while ruling a kingdom.
However the reason he was so confident was because the inquisitor's mob had a better state of the art gun and armor than the Sentinels. It would have been a massacre or a surrender if Melissa and her team weren't here. She looked back and glanced at Richard, Beatrice and Avalors. She smiled and turned back towards Traz.
She knew he was trying to threaten them to surrender but she has heard tales of the Inquisition and how far they can go to prove a point. They are like deranged dogs once they bite they won't open thos jaws until they bite something off but right now, they have bit more than they can chew.
Melissa cracked her knuckles and smiled. “You do realize we will have to defend ourselves right?” she asked. “And so that it wouldn't be as if you were not informed. I am Melissa Luna of the Dunham pack. You are currently ordering guns to be pointed at me without any official order.”
“What are you doing?” Jenese replied in a low tone. “Those inquisitors are an upgrade of the Sentinels, we are the victims here,” he said, fear evident in his eyes. He didn't want to die and that was understandable and even though he was afraid Melissa still commended him he stood through to his words.
“I have orders to retrieve the criminal by any means necessary. I suggest you do not stand in my way,” Traz replied with a snicker and then sat down lighting up a cigar.
“Trust me,” she whispered back to Jenese before walking towards Traz and stopping right in front of his armed men. “Are you a member of the Oracle?” She asked the question out of the blue and it caused Traz to jerk.
The cigar dropped from his hands and so did the lighter, he glanced up at Melissa and without giving an answer he gave the order. “Kill them all,”
They turned towards them and pulled the trigger. Normally a loud bang should have been heard followed by others in an asymmetrical succession that would create a cacophony of sounds caused by wailing and the sound of machine grinding against each other to cause even more bangs of explosion.
However in reality, there was only silence. They couldn't pull the trigger because their gun had jammed somehow. Before they could calculate what was happening, Avalors and Richard were on them.
They skillfully removed their helmets before slashing at their faces like feral animals. Traz just sat there terror in his eyes as his soldiers fell one after another and while all this was happening Melissa was walking towards him with an aura that made him sweat. “Kneel,” Melissa said slowly and he obeyed.
The commotion halted after this and Melissa just walked past him with Joyce and everyone else following her. Jenese was the one left with the entire rubble as her court walked out of the building with Jacob being half supported by Joyce.
They reached their car and a man was standing there waiting for them. Melissa tilted her head in confusion and the person turned to face them to reveal the infernal.
