Chapter 134 Ice Burn
The vampires seemed to have had a smarter plan to all this, it was like they expected opposition and conflict. They prepared for every contingency and for some reason they had the exact counter for any of them.
Hance was on the floor, his hand clutched around his chest as the intensity of the pain crushed him. At this point he didn't care about living or dying. He just wanted the pain to end, he would sell his soul to make it so, he didn't care. This was pain on another level, like someone exposed his nerves then started to dissolve them in concentrated Hydro chaotic acid and somehow left the pain receptors on, so he could feel every inch of the pain directly in his brain.
He glanced upward a bit and even the demon wolf was on the ground, sprawling in pain. Though he had a larger sense of duty than the others, Hance glanced up and noticed he was up to something, soul pain or not some people would just get things done no matter the odds. He stood up amidst the intense screaming and then used his powers, warping his Luna away from the scene.
Hance even in the most excruciating pain of his entire life couldn't help but command his sense of duty, throughout the entire situation he had his mind focused on keeping one person safe. Though Hance was still trying to figure out what he just did. He had never seen a wolf use that kind of power before, in fact even this pain ensuing within him was still largely surprising. But anyways, what could he say, he wasn't the most experienced of wolves.
He cast his mind towards his Beta… his mate whom he knew he wouldn't hear her voice as she could barely speak. She was one of those few wolves with that kind of ability. She could agitate people's emotions and tweak them from normalcy. That was why she was always beside him, because inadvertently, she was the one who kept him safe and one step ahead of most of his opponents at least, enough for him to survive.
In the Vance pack, wolves with abilities were always trained to their limits due to their rarity. I mean, most of their young ones these days, about forty five percent succumb to the Moon Rage, and there had only been one survivor, a small child; the daughter of a thug, who'd claimed a genius from Dunham healed her.
Anyways, the point was these deaths caused an insane amount of struggle in their ecology. To somehow cope with that, wolves had started to give birth to lesser prominent wolves. Most of which were just mostly human, as their wolves never react with them due to their weak will. He sighed, that was why he took that silly deal that rendered him powerless now. He gritted his teeth as he felt his mate's hand on his body.
He had only one thought going through his mind. "I don't want to die, not like this."
…
Melissa found herself falling down the stairs in an awkward tumble. The pain that had been gnashing through her entire being had vanished. She didn't know the floor she was as she bounced downwards, thoughts running through her head.
Whatever that wolf was doing to them would sooner kill them than later, she wasn't even sure the body was made to withstand such excruciating pain. She caught a breather, laying against the wall for a bit as she stopped rolling. She was at the base of the stairs just staring, for about a few seconds before she sprung up. She flared her aura immediately, discovering she was on the second floor. It seemed Richard couldn't have sent her further as he was really strained using his ability.
Melissa rushed up stairs dashing towards the room. By this time some of the guards had sensed something. By the time they would reach the door, she could hear the elevator ding open.
Oh, God, they needed to wrap this up quickly… Just as that thought landed in her head, a sharp claw, almost a talon extended towards her throat, she stepped backwards evading it.
She glanced up and right in front of her was the vampire they saw earlier. He blitzed his way towards her throwing his talons at her again, she ducked and wanted to attack him but he was already far away from her.
He attacked again and did the same thing. It was at that point Melissa understood that he was trying to force her down here, till the others died. They'd probably been screaming like that for four minutes straight. The sound of the guards that were coming from the left side also dampened her thoughts. She didn't really have time for this nonsense.
She coagulated her aura, letting the rage she was currently feeling, fill everything up and then she let go. A large forcefield exploded from her sending everybody to the ground as glass cracked around her, faultlines appeared around the building, everyone was sent flying and Melissa dashed in for a rematch. All the guards had been knocked out.
Just as she entered, she felt the temperature of the room drop, she glanced and figured it was probably because of the shattered glass. It already felt so chilly here. The group of assassins stood up and then the one who'd used that soul piercing ability turned to Melissa and wanted to use it against her again but he felt it too, just as Melissa had.
The temperature in the room was getting really low, she glanced around the room then found Beatrice, in a cold stance walking towards them, her figure was now just a shade of whiteness as she inhaled and exhaled.
She glanced up and then raised her hand and frozen mist drove its way through the room freezing all the assassins in place, the entire room had grown white like they were in a snowball party.
Beatrice stopped using her powers and muttered coldly, "Ice Burn.”
