Chapter 7

SITARA

It was back to work as usual the next day as many pack members still needed to be treated. Mom and dad didn't want me to go, but I had to work, and nothing could be done.

While juggling between patients, my mind would stray to and from Tristan , I know finding another mate after what happened to him would be hard.

It must be hard for him to have feelings all over again, so I understand why he would have wanted to reject me.

But then he dishes out the uno reverse card and doesn't. Instead, he accepts me as his mate.

Why?

For his wolf's sake could he be anymore of an grump, I mean stleast he told the truth and not string me along. But still the truth hurts.

“Sitara, Mr. Thomas would like for you to feed him his meal.”

Mr. Thomas is one of our package elders. He has been around since the day the pack was first established by our Alphas great grandfather.

He was moved to the pack's elderly home after losing his left arms in an attack and his nerves in the right damaged. Him and my parents are really good friends and on the days they would come visit they would always bring me along.

At first my mom would come by on lunch times or evenings and feed him his meals and as I got bigger I took over that was until I went off to college. Now that I'm back he request for me to feed him daily.

“Would you like to guess what you have for lunch today, Thomas?”

“The same thing I have every day Puppy.”

Puppy is the nickname he gave me as a child. He always said my wolf was still a pup hence the word puppy.

“ Bland food with no taste and a jelly cup.”

“Hey it's not our fault you had one of the nurses sneak you a chocolate.”

“ It's not my fault I'm a sweet talker.”

I take my seat in front of him and remove the lid from the container. The smell of baked chicken, baked potatoes, and fresh cucumber salad puts a smile on his face.

“So, anything new?”

“Nope, not one thing.”

“Really, so the pack being attacked, you finding your mates and…”

“How do you know all these things.”

“I have my ways, and let's be honest, your mother can't help herself, can she.”

“She can't.”

“So, did you accept them both yet?”

“I accepted Trravus but I'm not all that sure about Tristan, he is very clear on how much he doesn't want a mate.”

“Has it ever occur to you the more someone does not want something the more they want it.”

“What ?”

“Makes sense right, I know it did.”

“It's just, he seems rude and grumpy, and I'm the total opposite of that, you know.”

“Listen my sweet child, we all have our ways. It just takes the right person to love you the right way. Besides, he needs all the love he could get before hee..”

“Before he what….?”

“I shouldn't, and I can't tell you. just know he needs the love and you're the person to give it to him.”

“I'll think about it.”

“So you found your mate, that means you have a wolf did you change yet?”

“No, sadly.”

“I see that eye is getting stronger, don't worry, she will come soon. It may be sooner than you think.”

“I hope so.”

My talks with Mr. Thomas always seems to cheer me up, mainly because he is so easy to talk to.

After work, I decided to walk home, even though it was late, and dad insisted I thought it would be better to walk and clear my head.

I have never been in this situation before, usually the guy would look at my grey eye and run for the hills. What should I do? Should I accept him, should I reject him?.

Stopping near the pack's big open garden, I continue over to the rose patch and sit on the little stone bench. I usually come here when I'm lost or my thoughts are a blur.

“Hey mom, how are you doing? It's been a while since I came and talked to you. I'm lost mom, and I don't know what to do.”

My parents died when I was younger. I can't remember meeting them or what they look like, All I know is what I know now.

The smiths found me and raised me, and that's it. Who I am and who they are is a total mystery.

“What are you doing out here all alone ?”

“Ooh.. Alpha Tristan i.. I was just on my way home from work.”

“Didn't your father come to pick you up?”

“No, I asked him not to.”

“After you.. almost.. let's go.”

He grabs me by the arm and pulls me to my feet, I slap him.

“ohh.. I'm, I'm sorry.. I didn't mean.. it's just that you didn't even ask me to stand or if I'd like a lift home.”

“ Do I have to ask you, I'm your mate, I know what's best for you.”

“ No, you don't. You don't even know me. You only know what you see on file. Instead of grabbing me to go home, why don't you sit with me and learn more about me. Take some time to ask me a couple of questions.”

“I don't have time for that.”

“Then leave.”

He took off in the direction he came, anger filled me I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. A piece of my mind tgats what I should give him.

But before I could open my eyes, my body bumped against something solid, and my lips touched another.

His breath is hot, his lips as soft as his dangerously close to my hips, please no. Moongodess please no. When I opened my eyes and saw his looking in mine I could have melted.

“Hey, I was supposed to get the first kiss.”

I heard Travis shout, and I just wanted to disappear into the ground
