Chapter 92 Dream-Link Warning
POV: Luna
That night, I dream.
But it's not a normal dream. It's the otherworld again.
I recognize the feeling immediately. The shift in reality. The ethereal quality of everything.
I'm standing in the mystical version of Silverwood. Silver trees. Glowing sky.
And Miguel is there.
But something's different. He looks worried. Anxious. Not peaceful like before.
"Miguel?" I call out.
He turns, relief flooding his face. "Luna. Thank god. I wasn't sure I could reach you."
"What's wrong? You look scared."
"I am scared. For you." He closes the distance between us quickly. "Something's coming. Something big. And I needed to warn you."
"What's coming?"
"I don't know exactly. The otherworld doesn't show me everything. But I can sense it. Feel it building." He grabs my hands. "There's a new magical threat approaching Silverwood. Something connected to the rogue pack. And to Cassandra's Circle."
"They're working together?"
"Not directly. But they're being manipulated by the same source. Someone is using both groups. Coordinating them. Planning something major."
My blood runs cold. "The shadow caller."
"Probably. But there might be someone else too. Someone at the Academy. Someone alive."
"Who?"
"I don't know. I can only see fragments. Impressions. But Luna, whoever it is, they're dangerous. And they're close to you. Physically close."
I think about Cole. About Professor Thorne. About everyone who's been watching me.
"Can you give me anything more specific? Any details?"
"The threat involves blood magic. Old magic. And it's targeting you specifically. They want to weaken you. Break you. Make you vulnerable for when the shadow caller makes his real move."
"When is that happening?"
"Soon. Maybe days. Maybe weeks. But soon." He squeezes my hands. "Luna, you need to be ready. You need to strengthen your defenses. Trust your friends. Don't try to face this alone."
"I won't."
"And don't trust the goddess blindly. She has her own agenda. It might not align with keeping you safe."
That echoes what the shadow caller said. About the goddess using me.
"Miguel, how do you know all this?"
"Because I'm connected to you through your mark. I can sense things that threaten you. Feel them approaching." His form flickers slightly. "And because I love you. Even death doesn't change that. I'm still watching over you. Still trying to protect you however I can."
Tears stream down my face. "I miss you so much."
"I know. I miss you too. But Luna, you have to keep living. Keep fighting. Promise me you won't give up. No matter how hard it gets."
"I promise."
"Good." He pulls me into a hug. "Be smart. Be careful. And remember that you're stronger than you think. Braver than you believe."
"You've said that before."
"Because it's true. And because you need to hear it." He pulls back, his form growing more transparent. "I have to go. The goddess is calling me back. But Luna, one more thing."
"What?"
"The rogues. They're not just corrupted wolves. Some of them are being controlled by people who were once students at Silverwood. People who failed. Who chose corruption. Who serve the shadow caller now."
"Former students?"
"Yes. And they remember the Academy. Know its weaknesses. That makes them more dangerous than normal rogues."
His form is almost gone now. Fading back to wherever souls go between visits.
"Miguel, wait!"
"Be safe, Luna. I love you."
And then he's gone.
I wake up gasping in my bed.
Nova is instantly alert. "Luna? Another dream?"
"Yes. Miguel. He warned me about a new threat. Blood magic. Coordinated attack. Something involving former students who serve the shadow caller."
"Former students? You mean like graduates?"
"Or people who were expelled. Who failed. Who chose darkness." I sit up, my heart still racing. "And he said someone at the Academy is alive and working with them. Someone close to me."
"That's terrifying."
"Yeah."
I try to go back to sleep, but I can't.
My mark is burning. Pulsing with energy that wasn't there before.
I look down at it.
The Eclipse symbol is glowing. Brighter than usual. And there's something else.
A faint ethereal glow on my skin. Spreading out from the mark. Like moonlight trapped under my flesh.
"Nova, look at this."
She leans over, her eyes widening. "What is that?"
"I don't know. It started after Miguel's warning."
The glow pulses in time with my heartbeat. Silver. Beautiful. Eerie.
"It's like your mark is reacting to the threat. Warning you physically." Nova touches it gently. "Does it hurt?"
"No. It's just... there. Like my body is preparing for something."
We spend the next hour discussing what Miguel told me. Analyzing every detail.
Blood magic from Cassandra's Circle. Rogue attacks coordinated by former students. Someone at the Academy working with the shadow caller.
Too many threats. Too many unknowns.
"We need to tell the others," Nova says. "Aria, Sienna, Lyric. They need to know what's coming."
"Agreed. First thing in the morning."
But sleep doesn't come again that night.
I just lie there, watching the ethereal glow pulse on my skin.
A warning. A preparation. A sign that everything is about to escalate.
And I'm not sure I'm ready.
But ready or not, it's coming.
The next morning, I gather my friends before breakfast.
We meet in an empty classroom. Away from listening ears.
I tell them everything. Miguel's warning. The blood magic threat. The former students serving the shadow caller. The ethereal glow on my mark.
They listen in grim silence.
"So we're facing coordinated attacks from multiple directions," Aria summarizes. "Cassandra's Circle with blood magic. Rogues led by corrupted former students. And someone at the Academy helping coordinate it all."
"Yes."
"That's... a lot."
"I know."
"But we've handled a lot before," Sienna says. "We just need to be smart. Strategic. Use what we know."
"What do we know?" Lyric asks.
"We know blood magic requires personal items. Which they already have from Luna's room. We know rogues can be tracked by magical signature. And we know someone at the Academy is compromised."
"So we strengthen Luna's personal defenses. Track rogue movements. And figure out who the traitor is." Aria nods. "That's manageable."
"Is it?" I ask. "Because it feels overwhelming."
"It is overwhelming. But we don't have to solve everything at once. Just one problem at a time." Nova squeezes my shoulder. "And we do it together."
That helps. A little.
We spend the rest of the morning creating a plan.
Sienna will create stronger protective wards for me. Specifically against blood magic.
Lyric will monitor magical signatures around campus. Looking for anomalies that might indicate rogue presence or traitor activity.
Aria will train us harder. Push our combat skills. Make sure we can defend ourselves physically if magical defenses fail.
And Nova will research blood curse counter-spells. Ways to break whatever Cassandra's Circle might be planning.
It's a good plan. Comprehensive.
But I can't shake the feeling that it won't be enough.
That we're missing something crucial. Some piece of information that would make everything make sense.
Classes feel surreal after the warning.
Everyone going about normal Academy business while I know a coordinated attack is approaching.
During magical theory, I can barely focus.
Professor Elara Moon is explaining lunar phase influences on spell casting. Important information.
But all I can think about is Miguel's worried face. The urgency in his voice.
"Miss Eclipse, are you paying attention?"
I snap back to the present. "Sorry, Professor. Yes."
"Then perhaps you can answer the question. How does a waning crescent moon affect defensive wards?"
"It... weakens them? Makes them more permeable?"
"Correct. Which is why most attacks happen during waning moons. Lower defenses. Higher vulnerability." She looks at me pointedly. "Something to remember, given recent events at the Academy."
Is she hinting at something? Warning me?
Or just making conversation?
I can't tell anymore. Everyone feels suspicious.
After class, Cole pulls me aside.
"You look troubled," he observes. "More than usual."
"Just a lot on my mind."
"Anything I can help with?"
I want to tell him. Want to ask if he's the traitor. If he's working with the shadow caller.
But I can't. Not without proof.
"I'm fine. Just tired."
"You're lying. But I won't push." He hands me another book. "This contains advanced defensive techniques. Specifically against blood curses. I suspect you might need it soon."
How does he know about the blood magic threat?
"Why do you think I need this?"
"Because someone ransacked your room. Took personal items. That's textbook preparation for blood curse casting." He meets my eyes. "I pay attention, Luna. And I don't like seeing my students targeted by dark magic."
"Thank you."
"Be careful. Blood curses can be subtle. You might not even know you're cursed until it's too late."
He leaves me with the book and growing paranoia.
Is he genuinely helping? Or is he the insider? Giving me books to seem helpful while secretly working against me?
I don't know.
And not knowing is driving me crazy.
That evening, the ethereal glow on my mark intensifies.
Pulsing so brightly I can see it through my sleeve.
"It's getting worse," Nova observes.
"Or stronger. I can't tell which."
Sienna examines it carefully. "Your mark is reacting to approaching danger. Like a magical early warning system. The brighter it glows, the closer the threat."
"So the attack is imminent."
"Probably within days. Maybe hours."
We need to be ready.
But I don't feel ready.
I feel scared. Overwhelmed. Like I'm standing at the edge of something massive and terrible and inevitable.
And I'm not sure I'll survive it.
But I have to try.
For Miguel, who's watching from the otherworld.
For my friends, who are risking everything to help me.
For myself, who refuses to be broken by threats and curses and corruption.
I will survive this.
I will.
I have to believe that.
Because if I don't, I've already lost.
