Chapter 189 Liam & Luna's Bond
POV: Luna
We regrouped in the war room. Everyone exhausted. Bloodied. But alive.
"Cole's draining Luna's Eclipse power through the connection he planted," Sienna explained to the Headmaster. "Storing it. Building toward something massive."
"Can we remove the connection?" the Headmaster asked.
"We've tried. It's too embedded. Too sophisticated."
"Then we need to find Cole. Stop him before he can use the power he's stolen."
"How?" I asked. "He's hidden. Protected. Probably by Alpha Reed and the architects."
"Then we expose Alpha Reed. Bring evidence to the full Council. Force them to act."
"That'll take time we don't have."
"Then we buy time. Fortify defenses. Prepare for Cole's next move. Survive until we can go on offense."
It was a plan. Vague. Incomplete. But better than nothing.
Over the next few days, we prepared.
Enhanced wards. Trained constantly. Built contingencies.
And I worked with Liam. Deepening our bond. Learning to fight as one unit instead of two individuals.
"The mate bond gives us an advantage," he said during training. "We can sense each other's intentions. Anticipate moves. React faster."
"But only if we trust it completely," I added. "No second-guessing. No hesitation."
"Can you do that? Trust completely?"
"With you? Yes."
Through the mate bond, I felt his joy. His love. His absolute certainty.
We drilled for hours. Synchronizing. Coordinating. Perfecting our teamwork.
I'd partially shift. Maintain human enough to use Eclipse power. Wolf enough for strength.
Liam would fight in full Alpha form. Protecting. Supporting. Amplifying my abilities.
Together, we were devastating.
"This is incredible," Aria said, watching. "The way you two move. It's like a dance. Perfectly choreographed."
"That's the mate bond," Sienna explained. "At its peak. Fully integrated. Rare to see it this developed."
"They're beautiful," Selene added. "And terrifying. Cole won't know what hit him."
"Cole's expecting me to fight alone," I said. "Relying on Eclipse power. Individual strength. He's not prepared for pack coordination. For mate bond amplification."
"That's our advantage," Liam agreed. "We use what he doesn't expect. Hit him with unified force instead of individual power."
"And when the connection in my mark activates? When he pulls power?"
"We share the drain. All of us. Through pack bonds. Mate bond. Distribute the weight."
"That'll weaken everyone."
"Better all of us slightly weak than you completely drained."
He was right.
We continued training. My friends joined. Practicing coordinated attacks. Unified defenses.
By the end of the week, we were a well-oiled machine. Synchronized. Deadly. Ready.
"Cole's not going to know what hit him," Nova said confidently.
"Don't underestimate him," I warned. "He's been planning this for years. He has contingencies. Backup plans. Hidden advantages."
"So do we. We have something he doesn't."
"What?"
"Each other. Real bonds. Real trust. Real love. He's got manipulation and fear. We've got loyalty and family."
Through the pack bonds, everyone agreed. Certain. Determined.
We were ready.
Then Cole attacked.
Not physically. Magically. Through the connection in my mark.
It activated. Violently. Pulling massive amounts of power.
I screamed. Collapsed. The drain was overwhelming.
"Luna!" Liam was beside me instantly.
"The connection! He's pulling! Everything! All at once!"
Through the pack bonds, everyone felt it. Felt the drain through me.
"Share it!" Sienna ordered. "Everyone! Channel power! Help her!"
My pack did. All of them feeding me energy. Taking the burden together.
But it wasn't enough. Cole was pulling too hard. Too fast.
"He's building something!" I gasped. "Right now! Using my power! I can feel it!"
Through the connection, I sensed Cole's location. His spell. His intention.
He was at the seal's anchor point. The weakest spot. Where reality and otherworld met.
And he was using my stolen Eclipse power to break it.
"We need to stop him!" I said. "Now! Before he completes the spell!"
"You can barely stand!" Liam protested.
"Then help me! All of you! We go together! We end this! Tonight!"
Through the pack bonds, I felt their determination. Their readiness.
"Everyone who can fight!" the Headmaster announced. "Converge on the seal's anchor point! This is it! Final battle! We win or we lose everything!"
Students mobilized. Faculty coordinated. Everyone moving as one.
We ran toward the anchor point. Toward Cole. Toward destiny.
Found him there. Surrounded by magical equipment. Artifacts. Power sources.
And beside him, Alpha Reed. Supporting him. Providing resources.
"Luna!" Cole said, seeing us. "Right on time! I was hoping you'd come! I want you to watch! Watch as I use your power to reshape reality!"
"You're insane!"
"I'm visionary! And you're the fuel! The catalyst! The key!"
He raised his hands. The connection in my mark flared. Pulled harder.
I screamed. Unable to fight it. Unable to resist.
Liam grabbed me. Channeled through the mate bond. Sharing the drain. Taking the weight.
"You're not alone!" he said. "Never alone!"
Through our bond, I felt his strength. His love. His refusal to let me fall.
And something awakened. Something deep in the mate bond.
Not just shared power. Shared essence. Shared souls.
We fused. Not physically. Energetically. Our powers merging. Becoming something greater.
Eclipse and Alpha. Light and strength. Magic and instinct.
Combined. Amplified. Unstoppable.
"What is this?" Cole breathed.
"This is what you never understood," I said. "Real bonds. Real connection. Real love. It's more powerful than anything you've stolen!"
Liam and I attacked together. Perfectly synchronized. One mind. One purpose.
We tore through Cole's defenses. Disrupted his spell. Broke his artifacts.
"No!" he screamed. "I was so close!"
"You were never close," Liam said. "Because you were always alone. And alone, you can't win."
My friends joined the battle. All of us working together. Unified. Coordinated.
We were overwhelming. Unstoppable. Victorious.
Then Cole did something desperate.
He opened a hidden magical channel. One I hadn't sensed. Bypassing all our defenses.
And he directed it straight at Selene.
"No!" I screamed.
But I was too far. Too slow. Unable to intercept.
The spell hit Selene directly. Dark magic wrapping around her. Pulling her toward Cole.
"I don't need the seal!" Cole shouted. "I just need her! The royal bloodline! The goddess's connection! That's the real key!"
He was dragging Selene toward him. She fought. Struggled. But couldn't break free.
"Luna!" she called. "Help!"
I ran. Liam beside me. Racing toward her.
But Cole was faster. He'd planned this. Prepared this. Knew exactly what he was doing.
He grabbed Selene. Held her captive.
"Back off!" he ordered. "Or I kill her right now!"
We stopped. Helpless. Watching.
Cole had won. Again.
