Chapter 110 Moonlight Confrontation
POV: Luna
The full moon rises three days later.
Campus is tense. Everyone feeling the pull. The call to transform. To run. To hunt.
The Moon Circle ceremony is mandatory. All students. All faculty. Under the moon together.
But this month feels different. Dangerous. Like something is waiting to happen.
I can feel it through my mark. Through my wolf. Through every instinct I have.
Tonight, something breaks.
The ceremony begins normally. Professor Cael leading rituals. Students arranging by pack affiliation.
The moon rises. Full and bright. Power flooding through all of us.
My mark glows. Brighter than the others. Drawing attention like always.
But I maintain control. Stay human. Participate appropriately.
That's when the first howl sounds. From the forest. Wrong. Distorted.
Rogues.
"Stay in the circle!" Professor Cael orders. "Defensive positions!"
Faculty move to the perimeter. Creating barriers. Preparing for attack.
The rogues emerge. Dozens of them. More than we've ever seen at once.
All marked with those same symbols. All controlled. All coordinated.
"They're testing the wards," Professor Thorne says. "Probing for weaknesses."
But then something worse appears.
More creatures. Like the enhanced one from before. Massive. Magically augmented. Powerful.
Three of them. All focused on the Moon Circle. All preparing to attack.
"We can't hold them!" someone shouts.
"We have to," the Headmaster responds. "If they break through, students are vulnerable."
Faculty cast together. Combined magic. Powerful but strained.
The enhanced creatures attack. Hitting the wards with devastating force.
The barriers hold. Barely.
My friends gather around me. Pack formation. Ready to defend.
"We should help," Aria says.
"We're students," Nova argues. "We should stay protected."
"We're wolves," I counter. "And we're stronger together than apart. We help."
I don't ask permission. Just step forward. Outside the student section.
My pack follows. United. Ready.
I shift fully. Letting my wolf emerge completely. But maintaining human consciousness. Human judgment.
The integration is perfect. Wolf strength and magic combined.
My pack supports me. Nova's shields. Sienna's offensive spells. Lyric's disruptors. Aria's combat skill.
Together, we join the defense.
Cole is there too. Fighting alongside faculty. When he sees me, his expression shifts.
Concern. Pride. Fear. All at once.
"Luna, get back to safety!"
"No. We're helping. Whether you like it or not."
"Then stay close. Don't take unnecessary risks."
We fight together. Faculty and students. Pack and teachers. All defending Silverwood.
The enhanced creatures are strong. But we're stronger. Coordinated. Determined.
I channel otherworld energy. Miguel's essence flowing through my mark. Amplifying my power.
The creatures feel it. React to it. Eclipse energy burning through their corruption.
One by one, they fall back. Wounded. Weakened.
The smaller rogues retreat with them. Coordinated withdrawal. Strategic.
We've won. For now.
But one creature escapes with clear signs of dark manipulation. Glowing symbols that pulse even as it flees.
Whoever's controlling them is learning. Adapting. Getting stronger.
As the battle ends, I feel it. My mark burning. Not painful. But intense.
Power flowing through it. More than I've ever channeled. More than I thought possible.
It glows brighter. And brighter. Pulsing with energy I can barely contain.
I try to regulate it. Shut it down. But it won't stop.
"Luna, what's wrong?" Nova asks.
"My mark. Too much power. Can't control it."
Cole is there immediately. "Let me help. Give me your hand."
I extend my wrist. He takes it carefully.
His magic flows into me. Not adding to the chaos. Stabilizing. Grounding.
Slowly, the energy regulates. My mark dims. Returns to normal glow.
"What happened?" I gasp.
"You channeled too much at once. Otherworld energy, pack bond amplification, your own Eclipse power, and combat adrenaline. Your mark overloaded trying to process it all."
"Is that bad?"
"It's concerning. Your power is growing faster than your ability to control it. That's dangerous."
The Headmaster approaches. "Miss Eclipse. Impressive display. But also reckless. You could have been killed."
"I was helping defend the Academy, sir."
"You were putting yourself at unnecessary risk. Again." He looks at Cole. "Professor Mercer, please escort Miss Eclipse to medical. Ensure there's no lasting damage from the overload."
"Yes, sir."
Cole guides me away from the Moon Circle. Toward the medical wing.
But halfway there, I stop. Lean against a wall. Breathing hard.
"I'm okay. Just need a minute."
"You channeled enough power to fuel a dozen wolves. You're not okay."
"But I will be. Just need to rest."
He steps closer. Close enough that I can feel his warmth. His concern.
"Luna, you can't keep pushing yourself like this. Your body has limits. Your magic has limits. You'll burn out."
"I don't have a choice. The attacks keep coming. I have to be ready."
"You can be ready without destroying yourself in the process."
We're standing very close. Both of us aware of it. Both of us not moving away.
"Cole—"
"I know. We can't. Not now. Not while I'm your teacher."
"But you want to."
"More than you know."
The moment stretches. Charged. Electric.
Then my mark flares again. Sudden. Violent. Pulsing with uncontrolled energy.
I cry out. Grab my wrist.
"It's happening again. The overload."
Cole acts immediately. Taking my hand. Channeling his magic to stabilize mine.
This time, his power flows deeper. Connecting more intimately. Our energies intertwining.
I feel him. Not just his magic. Him. His emotions. His care. His attraction.
And he feels me too. I can tell by his expression.
The mark settles. But we're still connected. Still holding hands. Still locked in this moment.
"This is dangerous," he whispers. "Not the magic. Us."
"I know."
"We should stop. Before this goes too far."
"I know."
But neither of us lets go.
Finally, footsteps approach. Other students leaving the Moon Circle.
We break apart. Professional distance restored.
"Get some rest," Cole says. "And Luna? Be careful. Your mark is destabilizing. That's a sign something major is approaching. The trial probably. Be ready."
"I will."
He walks away. Leaving me alone with my racing heart and glowing mark.
Tonight proved something. I'm getting stronger. But also more unstable.
The power is growing faster than my control. My mark is reacting to threats I can't see yet.
And everything is building toward something massive.
The trial of power. The shadow caller's final offer. The convergence the goddess warned about.
All of it coming soon. Maybe days. Maybe hours.
And when it arrives, I'll have to choose. Who I am. What I'll become. What I'm willing to sacrifice.
But for now, I just need to survive until morning.
One more night. One more battle. One more impossible situation.
Until I'm finally ready for whatever comes next.
