Chapter 31: Acceptance

Lawrence was an intelligent child and knew how to capitalize on his strengths as a child.

Sharlene was flinging abuses without reason in public and she was doing this at a child. Any bystander would side the child.

He endeavored to shed some tears to gain some pity form the people.

He was definitely successful.

"Okay, let's appease the kid. We can't keep standing in the hall. Let's go to the private room first."

Roderick very quickly appeased Lawrence.

Actually, he liked the child very much from the first time they met as if they were destined. He even thought about how nice if he was his child.

In the end, Suzette compromised.

She continued to talk to Lawrence, "You should take note, don't anyhow address someone as your father."

Lawrence became upset, "I didn't, I only said that he's my father."

"Hey, you!"

She was worried that Roderick would notice something amiss and Suzette didn't say anymore and put Lawrence down and let him walk on his own.

But her heart still had some doubts.

She verified once again that Lawrence's affection for Roderick was too sudden.

Was it really simply due to Roderick being good looking and wants to get closer to them?

Suzette trembled a little when she thought of this.

She felt that she shouldn't think so much since she was still working for him.

They followed behind Roderick and very soon reached the private room. At this point, Suzette thought of another matter, that she has to pay for tonight's meal no matter what.

One the other side, Sharlene who was driven off couldn't swallow the insult. She struggled to try to get in.

She came here tonight because it was her birthday. Her son Camden was prepared to give her an expensive treat and that's why he chose Century Garden but now it's all ruined and they were even asked to leave the restaurant.

She stood at the door screaming and yelling.

"What kind of heartless restaurant you are! I'll go to the Trade department to lodge a complaint against you!"

No matter how she yelled, no one bothered with her and in return, others began to despise her.

In short, it was a disgrace to her.

Camden couldn't take it any further and he endured the disgraceful scene and pulled his mother, "Mom, let's go somewhere else for dinner."

Furthermore, he also understood what was said.

Roderick had a share in this Century Garden. Once the staff said that they had been blacklisted, then it must be true.

In any case, it was so expensive, so what if he can't go there.

But Camden still felt uneasy.

When Suzette divorced him, she had absolutely nothing. When they met upstairs, he found out that after leaving him, Suzette became more and more beautiful and increasingly rich.

Compared to the current Suzanne.

Five years ago, Suzanne was able to entice him but after five years together, he was already at the limit of his endurance.

"What should we leave, son, didn't you say that you'll treat me to dinner here?"

Sharlene still refused to leave.

At this moment, Suzanne who kept playing with her cell phone laughed coldly, "What's there to eat, you've already been blacklisted."

When Sharlene heard this, she roared, "I'm talking to my son, shut up bitch!"

In the beginning, Sharlene was very fond of Suzanne because she knows how to flatter and sweet talk.

But after the marriage, the money of the family was managed by Suzanne and she has to beg to Suzanne when she needed money.

In contrast, Suzette gave all her salary to them and she even included her son's name in her property.

Suzanne immediately kept her phone, "I shut up? Why don't you look at what a disgraceful thing you did! Camden, I don't care. I'm going back now. Settle this on your own."

After she said these, she turned and wanted to leave.

Camden was torn on both sides.

He didn't want to antagonize Suzanne at this point and his mother was hard to handle.

He had no choice. In order to end this, Camden forcibly dragged Sharlene away.

In Century Garden, things finally calmed down.

And the food was being served in the room where Suzette was in.

She had planned to thank Roderick but she realizes that Lawrence and Roderick were happily chatting about all kinds of topics.

"You have a younger sister?" Roderick was stunned.

Lawrence nodded and takes out his small cell phone and on it has Amy's photo.

"Yes, this is my twin sister, isn't she cute?"

Lawrence showed Roderick the photo and was thinking in his heart.

Sis, I've completed the task you gave me. Our father now knows how you look like.

Suzette wanted to prevent Lawrence from doing that but she allowed it in the end. She thought that one day Amy will be back and so she let Lawrence do as he wished.

But Roderick was still curious. He lifted his head to look on Suzette.

"I didn't know that you gave birth to twins. Why didn't you bring her along?"

When this was mentioned, Suzette felt a pinch and sighed.

"When the kids were born my body was very weak and the children's nutrition suffered, especially Lawrence's sister. Her health has been weak from birth and is now recuperating in M Country. I'll take her back here after a while.

Although it seemed like a simple explanation, Roderick could sense how painful it must be for her.

Except that he didn't express his emotions.

He considered that the kid needs to sleep early and so they left soon after dinner.

Suzette wanted to express her gratitude and insisted on picking up the check and Roderick didn't object.

He knows that Suzette's financial situation was strong.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to buy her property with full payment inclusive of the renovations.

She worked very hard because of the kids.

Lawrence was unwilling to part with Roderick.

"Daddy, next time come to our house to play!"

"Lawrence, don't say that!"

Lawrence still didn't change the way he called Roderick and Roderick didn't mind.

"Just let the kid be, and that also meant that we're bound together. In this case, you can work well for my company."

Roderick was being humorous.

Suzette apologized, "I'm so sorry, the kid is young, please don't take it to heart."

At this point Roderick became stern.

"I really don't mind and I intend to recognize Lawrence as my son. He looks very much like me when I was little."

"No, that's not possible." Suzette said.

In some instances, she can be very stubborn.

"Let's not talk about these now. I'll see you at the office tomorrow."

Roderick changed the topic.

He waved to Suzette to bid farewell and also winked at Lawrence.

In the car, Lawrence was depressed. He saw his mother and father's situation and felt perplexed. When can their family be whole again?

Even his little sister had been found and yet he can't say anything. How frustrating.
