Chapter 266: Keep good memories

"I did what you have said, happy now?"

Dan looked up at the man towering over him with a visible smirk on his face.

Dan's face was swollen, with dried blood on the corners of his lips, proof of how brutal his day went in the hands of Liam's man.

"I wouldn't be that rude if I were you. Now tell me, how long are you going to stay in River City?" Ethan placed a small knife on the small coffee table across from where Dan was sitting.

He had found Dan according to Liam's orders and made sure to bring him to the warehouse where they usually taught their enemies a lesson. The reason why most people fear Liam and Paul is because they don't leave a stone unturned when they retaliate.

"Please let me go. I promise I will never come back here." Dan begged, his voice cracking a little.

"Mhhhh, that's a nice offer you have, pal. However, it is up to Mr Foster to decide, right?" Ethan raised his eyebrows, his eyes cold and intimidating.

Dan flinched when Ethan leaned over to him. He deeply regretted conspiring with his cousin and so wished Michelle was the one in this position.

"Relax, I am done with you, but the boss might like to know why you are attacking his wife. Isn't his brother enough for your cousin, or are you two that greedy?"

Ethan shot an icy stare at the man sitting before him with his hands tied to the chair.

"I did what Michelle told me to do."

Dan's lips trembled.

"Frankly speaking, I don't think so."

Their eyes met, and Ethan smirked at his nervousness.

"I think you have realized that writing lies about the Fosters and the Smiths... In fact, everyone in Mr Foster's circle... would give you the financial freedom you really want, one that writing about random pets and teenagers won't help you out with."

Ethan said coldly, rising from the chair as he heard footsteps from outside.

"I think that's the boss. I'd start praying if I were you."

Dan shook his head, his hair damp from sweating after hours of being tortured by the stranger Liam had sent to teach him a lesson.

"I think he is better than you."

Dan shot back, spit coming out of his mouth as he spoke in annoyance.

"You are right, except you are a man, and I don't recall Mr Foster having sympathy for men."

Ethan folded his arms, his head tilting as the doors opened, revealing Liam, whose cold expression stood out as he walked in.

"Hey, Ethan and Mr... mini Preston."

Liam deliberately said to mock the terrified man he faced.

"I promise I won't repeat it again. Please tell him to let me go."

Dan desperately begged, a little hope in Liam's judgment.

Liam and Ethan exchanged an amused glance before Liam chuckled lowly.

"Trust me, I would do that if that was the option. Unfortunately, we can't let you roam free and attack my wife again."

Liam's eyes darkened at the thought of his wife at the hospital, and Dan's appearance annoyed him because he had thought he was a muscular man. Instead, he was a slim, normal-height man.

"And now we are going to do everything my way. Forget about Ethan as I make you a great deal. Unless you want to be stuck here with us."

Dan's eyes lifted at the sound of Liam's words.

"Yes."

He replied in panic, and Liam smiled in satisfaction.

"I've seen your work in London, and I believe you are the right person to help us drag the Prestons... You ready to do the work, mate?"

Dan hesitated, and Liam quietly gestured for Ethan to get closer to him.

Liam stepped back as Ethan was about to teach Dan another lesson.

"Okay, whatever you want. Just keep him far from me!"

Ethan laughed while Liam gave a slight nod to Dan's pleas.

"Noted, but you should be prepared to be hated by the Prestons, or maybe you'd like to stay low key."

Liam suggested.

"I prefer low key, sir."

Dan's features hardened as Liam grabbed a stool, sitting inches away from him.

"Ethan, bring the PC. The man is ready to work." Liam instructed with his firm voice.

"Yes, boss." Ethan went out to bring a laptop for Dan to use for writing.

He came back minutes later, and Dan was forced to drag his family since he knew more scandals than any outsiders could ever know.

"I have plenty of time, Mr Preston. You better not disappoint me." Liam leaned back with smugness visible on his face.

Dan lifted his head as Ethan untied him and placed a laptop gingerly on his lap.

Meanwhile, Nancy was sitting with her Aunt Priya at Granny's Diner. The two of them were casually speaking about Nancy's childhood, with Priya lingering on the topic for a while as it was the only thing still connecting her to Nancy.

"Remember when you and Rose spilled Hannah's foundation on the floor and she was really mad." Priya reminded Nancy, who chuckled in return.

"If she didn't kill us that time, I knew that she really loved us. Sh... that makeup was too expensive at that time. Thanks for reminding me to buy her one."

Nancy said with a softened smile.

"You are welcome, but I would like you to know that even small things make great memories. Out of recent things that have occurred, I suggest you take in mind the good things that have happened."

Priya sipped her juice, making eye contact with her niece.

"Is that your way of telling me I should back off searching for my father?"

Nancy asked seriously, disbelief flashing on her face.

"I never said that, dear. I was telling you to keep the good memories of our family."

Priya explained with a charming smile.

"I would do what you say, but how about we talk about what brought us here."

Nancy arched her brows at the woman across from her.

"You have to promise me something in return, though." Priya said seriously, slightly leaning over the table.

"I'm guessing you also want me to go visit Rudolph, right?"

She smiled bitterly when Priya gave a quick nod.

"That would be nice. He is always asking me about you, and unfortunately, I can't bear it when I see him in pain without you by his side."

Nancy reluctantly nodded in desperation to find information about her biological father.

"I have agreed, Aunt Priya, but now it is time to tell me about my father. Who is he and where is he? I know that he doesn't know about me, but finding him is on my bucket list." Nancy's forehead creased.

"His name is Cainan. I'm not sure about his last name, but I have the exact location of where he stays. Perhaps you should start there."

Priya took out a small card showing an address, and Nancy smiled and sighed with relief.

"Thank you so much, this means so much to me." Her expression softened.

"Don't forget my brother, please."

Priya said softly, her eyes gently glancing at Nancy.
