Chapter 6: First Night
Our wedding is over and some of our guests started to go home. Daddy and Jacob's parents also came home. Some of Jacob's cousins stayed. They plan to go swimming tonight, so Cora also leaves stayed. She didn't want to stay because she had an important matter to attend tomorrow but I asked her to stay.
"Go to our villa first," Jacob ordered me. I was sleepy already. I only drank one glass of wine, but I don't know why I feel like I've drank too much.
"Will you follow?" I asked him.
"Yes. We'll just finish one bottle."
"You're not sleepy yet, Cora?" I asked my friend.
She's quiet. She's already drunk but she doesn't engage much in conversation. H
She is not like this. She is friendly and sociable, we are very different. Jacob's cousin were nice that's why I didn't feel out of place.
Jacob let one of his cousins accompany me to the villa. When I entered the room, he immediately left and return to the group.
I took a shower and put on a night dress. When I lay down I fell asleep immediately. Until I woke up around three o'clock in the morning. I'm alone in the room. Jacob is not here yet.
I got up and peeked at the balcony. The whole area is quiet. Where are they?
Maybe my husband fell asleep there because he was too drunk.
I put on a robe and left the room. I looked for him all over the villa but he was nowhere to be found. He haven't really come back yet.
I went to the other villa, when I noticed that the door was still open and the lights were still on. Some of Jacob's cousins are still awake.
"Where's Jacob?"
"He's not in your room yet?"
I shook my head and asked about Cora.
"Did you see Cora?"
"She's already in her room. She's very drunk."
I walked outside to look for Jacob. I was outside for a few minutes before I thought of going back, even without my husband.
It was my first night with Jacob, but here I was alone in the room, and I couldn't find him either.
When the door opened, I breathed a sigh of relief. He's already here. He looks drunk and he's wet.
"What happened?"
"I just took a bath at the sea." At this hour?
I got up to support him. He is very drunk. I took him to the bathroom and was going to help him take a bath but he said he could do it.
I just went back to bed and waited for him. I was even nervous because after he showered and got dressed, he lay down on the sofa.
I look at him curiously. Why would he sleep there? I wanted to ask him but I chose not to. He might be really sleepy. Maybe he feels more comfortable there? Or maybe he's not used to sleep with someone. After all, I'm also not used to having someone next to me, e.
I just closed my eyes and forced myself to go back to sleep even though I was disappointed.
"Good morning, wife..." He woke up early.
"Good morning..." I was embarrassed because I woke up with frizzy hair. I hurried into the bathroom. I should wake up early from now on. Earlier than my husband. I should be beautiful every morning.
I took a quick shower. I applied different treatments to my hair to make it look soft and shiny. I have also applied liptint to my lips and cheeks so that I don't look pale.
"Our breakfast is ready," he said with a small smile on his lips.
"I'm sorry about last night. I drank too much. I even fell asleep on the beach, drunk." That's why he disappeared.
I smiled. "It's okay."
"This way..." We ate together on the balcony. I was even thrilled while accepting the food he was feeding me. I was still shy at first, especially when he was looking at me. Do I look beautiful to him?
I also feed him. We didn't talk much.
We were about to finish eating when Cora arrived.
"Hello, newly weds."
She was wearing a two piece but she covered it with see through cardigans. Jacob looked at her. They smiled at each other.
"I'll be leaving later, but I thought I'd go swimming first. What's your plan now? Maybe you're not just going to stay here, right?" She looked at me teasingly. My cheeks got hot so I looked away.
"I got work," Jacob answered. My husband and I looked at each other.
"You didn't take a leave?" We just got married.
He shook his head. It was as if his mood changed immediately.
"Precious and I will just go swimming then. Let's go, friend."
I wanted to have dessert but my friend pulled me away. I went into the bathroom to change my clothes. I'll just wear a rush guard. I put a long dress over it because I was embarrassed for Jacob to see me wearing just this. Some layers of my belly fat are visible.
When I came out of the bathroom, I saw the two of them talking. Jacob was smiling while Cora laughing. She playfully slap on my husband's arm.
I coughed to get their attention. But my husband didn't even glance at me.
"Let's go?" I asked my friend. She stood up and came to me. She put her arm around me and we went out together. We got to the end. The caretaker of the island said that it is better to bathe there.
"Shoot! I didn't bring my sunscreen," Cora said. "I'll go back to the villa."
"Haven't you applied yet?"
"Yes, you know I have to apply every fifteen minutes." She hastily stood up.
"I'll be right back!"
I didn't go with her because I would just get tired. The caretaker is on the beach with the children so it's not scary to be left here.
A few minutes have passed but Cora still hasn't returned. I enjoyed swimming so I didn't feel bored.
"You're alone?" I turned to Jacob's cousins. One of them also has a fat wife, but I'm bigger and taller.
"Yeah, Cora go back to take her sunscreen."
"Huh? We didn't see her," they answered.
"Maybe she's coming back," I answered while floating. They also came to me. They were fun to talk to so I enjoyed their company. I forgot about Cora.
"Sorry, my stomach hurts, so I couldn't come back right away."
"Are you okay?" I asked Cora worriedly.
"Yes, I have taken medicine." She is wearing a different swimsuit. She is now in full sleeves and one piece, but back less. She looks cute in it.
She came to me and hugged me suddenly.
"Why?" I asked laughingly.
"Nothing. I'm just gonna miss you. My best friend is married."
"Yeah. You're next." She chuckled.
"Yeah. Next year, I might even get married."
"Oh? Why? Do you have a crush on someone?"
She giggled.
"Is there?"
"It's complicated," she said and swam away from me.
"What do you mean?" I approached her.
"What? I thought there were no secrets?"
"Who's that lucky guy?"
"Widower and an heir. It's just that it's very complicated," she answered.
"Why is it complicated? Is he old? Does he have a child?"
"Not really. Let's not talk about it."
"Why? I want to know."
"When everything is okay. I'll tell you first."
"Okay, then."
