Chapter 154: Crazy Woman
"Our great saint Lon is back."
Seeing Lon walking toward them, Alton whistled teasingly.
Tobias looked at Lon with a smile and asked, "Fallen for her?"
Lon's eyes darkened slightly. Looking at his two friends who were eager to watch the drama unfold, a hint of helplessness flashed through his usually cold and indifferent eyes.
"She's Emily's friend. It's only right that I help her out."
"Is that all?"
Alton clearly didn't buy it. "You're usually as cold as ice. Forget about women—even with us guys, we've never seen you smile much. So what's really going on with you now? Have you actually fallen for her?"
"I remember that girl's name is Hermione. She and Kurt have depended on each other since childhood, and her family background is pretty ordinary. But you don't have elders in your family, and it's not as complicated as the Thomas family. You have the most say in your family, so even if you want to marry someone who's not your social equal, no one would dare say anything."
Tobias said with a smile.
Lon was silent for a moment, then shook his head.
He was certain of his feelings. As for Hermione, he couldn't say he liked her, but he didn't dislike her either.
Every time he accidentally met those misty, tearful eyes, his heart would ache densely.
"Didn't you say we were going to find the boss? Are we still going or not?"
Lon said flatly.
This was clearly an attempt to change the subject!
Alton and Tobias exchanged glances, both seeing a hint of amusement in each other's eyes.
...
At the same time, a woman wearing an expensive business suit, with delicate makeup and sharp features, walked up to James.
"Mr. Thomas, long time no see. I didn't expect you to come to the expo I'm hosting."
Cecilia Thorne wore a proper smile on her face, her bright eyes looking at James, who remained imposing even while sitting in a wheelchair. Her eyes couldn't hide her admiration and affection.
James had just been arguing with Emily. Since he was blind and couldn't see the exhibits around him, he had Marc push him to the VIP lounge to rest.
He didn't expect that as soon as he arrived at the VIP lounge, a familiar voice would ring in his ears.
Cecilia had attended the same university as James, so they were classmates.
Since their college days, Cecilia had liked James and pursued him aggressively.
However, James had strong defenses and blocked all of Cecilia's various normal and abnormal pursuit tactics.
But Cecilia kept trying despite repeated failures.
In recent years, after Cecilia became the director of the Emerald City Museum and president of the Antiques Association, her daily busyness and fulfillment had reduced the frequency of her pursuit of James.
Just when James thought Cecilia had finally gotten tired of it and given up, and he was about to forget about it, this Cecilia suddenly appeared in front of him again.
Actually, this wasn't too surprising. After all, Cecilia was the organizer of this expo, and the invitation sent to the Thomas family was also sent by Cecilia.
It's just that at the time, James had no interest in this kind of expo and didn't think deeply about who sent the invitation. It wasn't until now, meeting Cecilia face to face, that James realized how troublesome the invitation sent to the Thomas family was.
James's face darkened, and his voice dropped several degrees.
"You're the one hosting this expo."
James said with certainty.
"That's right. How about it? I did a pretty good job, didn't I?"
Cecilia raised her eyebrows confidently and said proudly, "I thought you would ignore the invitation sent to the Thomas family, but I didn't expect you to actually come. Does this mean... you've finally accepted my pursuit?"
Cecilia's eyes showed determination. With a smile on her lips, she took a step closer to James.
"Stay away from me!"
James frowned, the muscles on his face tense.
"Cecilia, I'm already married."
"I know. People can get divorced after marriage! Besides, you and your wife only have a contract marriage with no emotional foundation. I think your house is so big, one more person shouldn't be a problem."
Cecilia had long heard about James's marriage.
However, she didn't take Emily seriously. Someone kicked out by the Johnson family, even if she married James, still had a lowly and humble fate.
What right does this kind of woman have to compete with me?
"You woman are really crazy!"
"Thanks for the compliment!"
James felt very irritated and helpless. Cecilia was different from other women who threw themselves at him.
She was calm and strong, and would do whatever it took to get what she wanted.
And James's usual cold demeanor that he used to brush off women had no effect on Cecilia.
James really had no way to deal with Cecilia.
Marc looked at James's unpleasant expression with some concern, wondering if James would be so angry at Cecilia that he'd pass out.
Should he call Emily to come rescue him?
Just as the atmosphere in the lounge was getting increasingly tense, there were three knocks on the door.
"James, are you in there?"
It was Emily's voice.
This voice was like music from heaven. Marc's eyes brightened slightly. Regardless of James's gloomy expression, he immediately shouted, "Ms. Johnson, we're here."
The person outside the door seemed startled by Marc's loud voice.
After a long silence, a hand pushed open the door and walked into the VIP lounge.
"James, I heard you weren't feeling well and were resting here. Is there something wrong with your leg again?"
Emily walked hurriedly toward James, not giving Cecilia even a glance.
"I'm fine."
James seemed pleased by the urgency in Emily's voice, and he couldn't help but curl his lips.
Emily still cares about him after all.
After checking James's body and finding no obvious injuries, Emily breathed a sigh of relief.
Only then did Emily notice that besides James, herself, and Marc, there was another person breathing in the lounge.
And the burning gaze behind her couldn't be ignored either.
Emily slowly turned around and looked at the woman in front of her who was examining her with scrutiny. A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.
This woman was somewhat similar to herself.
Under a beautiful appearance, wrapped a tough soul.
Especially those eyes full of scrutiny and sharpness, which added a bit of edge and fierceness to the woman's beauty.
"Hello."
Emily nodded politely at Cecilia.
This woman is quite interesting.
Emily raised her eyebrows, and her gaze toward Emily held more interest and appreciation.
"You're the wife James just married? Simply stunning. You're wasted being with him. Why don't you come with me instead? I can give you the good life."
Cecilia curled her lips, but the words coming out of her mouth were somewhat shocking. The key was that it was impossible to tell whether what she said was a joke or not.
Emily didn't feel offended. She just felt a bit surprised.
But James, upon hearing this, immediately darkened to the point where ink could drip from his face.
Cecilia, that damn crazy woman, actually wanted to take his person away!
