Chapter 53 Are you a ghost?
Lilac was glad that Eric wanted to know what she had to say, or else she would not have gotten the go ahead to go on her trip.
The very next day, she was supposed to meet up with Cindy and Lilac at the camp, so she got intbeh car with two guards the moment her plane landed and drove over to the camp site.
When she got there, she called Cindy and soonnall three girls met up. Lilac took Ina deep breath of forest air and sighed in relief.
She followed them over with her camping bag to set up camp on the clearing with the girls.
They had begun setting up with the President of Stonewell walked keb to enthusiastically greet her. The moment Lilac saw his face she immediately understood Ethel's words. With shiny slip back hair, wide lips and a weird smile, the President really looked as fake as they had said. The soundnof his voice was flattering, but he held onto Lilac'a hand much longer than necessary making her feel disgusted. They were right. She was not going to be able to hold back.
But before she could go off on the man, some others walked over and joined them. The man quickly introduced them as representatives of Black Group, even naming some as upper management.
Lilac went pale as she recognized Ethan and Mark, Friends of Eric. And Eric himself. Why was he every where? Was he a ghost haunting her? Lilac nodded slightly and returned to making her tent with rage in her heart. When Eric had moved away, Ethel finally couldn't hold back.
“This is our company trip, right? Why are other companies here?” Ethel could not help but ask Lilac who was putting away their things. Her voice was not low, so quite a few people setting up cap beside them heard her. It was not that others did not want to ask this, only she dare to do it while the people in question were there.
“To gain much needed sunlight, someone of them will soon be mistaken for vampires.” Lilac answered with a a slight sneer as she pitched her tent. Most who heard, were staff from Black Group who had joined.
“We are coming to relax, but leave it to the board and that sleezebag to turn it into a networking event. Why would upper management at Black group even agree to come?" Cindy asked. Even the staff at Black group who had come with them also wonder the answer to this question.
“So that the mold grouing on their bodies from sitting too long will be dispersed by the wind,” Lilac answered again.
“So, they tagged along as a vacation,” Ethel said.
“Giving that some of them have already sworn their allegance to the mold, it might as well be a punishment,” Lilac answered and three of them turned around to notice the Black group staff where staring at them. Cindy cleared her throat and tried to soothe the atmosphere.
“Child, is this how we taught you to talk?” Cindy asked and Lilac rolled her eyes.
“Forgve the child, her mouth is legendary for catatrophe,” Ethel said and pushed Lilac back to making her tents.
“This is the chairman and CEO of a partner company. You not know her well, you will soon get used to her.” Cindy said and pulled Lilac away.
“She rarely talks, but when she does…” Ethel's secretary said when they were out of earshot and trailed off.
“It’s fine, you will get used to it. It is only for a few days, after all,” Another secretary said, only to pause, “But now that I think about it, the Marketing team are working with her right? They still recovering from her mouth,” someone seemed to mutter, but was still heard, before they all dispersed to continue with their task.
The Black group staff all thought that the woman was angry, but they were actually taken aback instead. To them, she had not really said anything poisonous.
But the more people talked, the more they wondered if she had spared them.
“Sister in law is legendary, I see,” Ethan commented, but Eric’s eyes only followed Lilac a bit before looking away.
That night, they ate early. Many sat around into the night joking around, while others went to sleep. Even though Lilac had slept in the bus, she was still quite tired, so she decided to retire early. She sprayed some bug spray in her tent and waited a while before going in to sleep. But sleep still deluded her. She ate some snacks in her tent and continued watching her drama. There was barely any signal in the woods, so she was quite happy that she had downloaded the episodes while on the bus. After a few drinks she felt pressed deep into the night. She took off her ear piece and the silence of the night descended on her. She took out a lamp and carefully came out of her tent. There were bathrooms on the campsite, but it was quite a bit way from where they all slept. She looked towards Cindy and Ethel’s tents and noticed no light inside, so she assumed they must have gone to sleep. She took in deep breath and looked int eh direction of the toilets and started walking over.
“Lord, lead the way,” she muttered repeatedly as she walked over. After a long walk she got to the toilets and went in to do her business. When she walked out, it was even darker than she had recalled it was walking in. She adjusted her mind and started walking back. As she did, she heard ghostly whispering in the dark that caused her to freeze. She looked around with her eyes, not daring to move her head. At the corner of her eyes, she saw a figure in white in the direction of the campsite. The figure held up a low lamp and raised her hand to beckon to her slowly.
“No, thank you.” Lilac said and ran in the opposite direction. As she ran, she heard whispers following her. But for some reason, she dared not scream. She ran a bit till she was tired and had to stop. At this point, she realized she was lost.
“Stupid ghost,” she said in frustration, only then realizing it might not have been a ghost. Just that moment, a hand grabbed her shoulder and howled.
“God, if you do this for me, I will sacrise the holy boss to you,” she chanted and broke into a run. She ran while swinging her lamp around, barely able to see ahead of her. Soon, she ran into a person.
“Bloody Hell!” she cried.
“Do you eat with that mouth?” she heard a familiar voice answer. She looked up while using her lamp to sheild her from who ever was in front of her. When she looked up, she saw Eric Black’s face illuminated by her lamp and grabbed unto him in fear.
“Eric, Ghost! There are ghosts everywhere.” she cried.
Eric looked down at the girl wrapped around his midsection and almost broke out in laughter.
