Chapter 18 Lost Memories
Lilac found herself in a dream as she closed her eyes. She was back on the Black family ship deck at night staring at her sister, June. The scene was one she was familiar with and it continued without stop.
"Why are you doing this? You know how that account came about, you and mum asked me to..."Lilac screamed at June.
"Oh shut it. You keep acting like a victim day and night, when we basically helped you marry a man you had a crush on. Now you can even repay the family?" June said and Lilac's tears seized.
"You go over and explain to Eric. He will kill me if the agent take his father off this ship!" Lilac screamed at her.
June sneered and turned away but Lilac grabbed her.
"Micheal was right, It seems I was too nice to you," June said through her teeth and slammed a hard metal on Lilac's temple, making her head spin. Before Lilac could stabilize herself, June grabbed her feet and tilted her over the railings.
"In your next life, pray for better luck," June said and tipped Lilac into the sea.
The dark sea water rushed into Lilac's mouth before she could react. She struggled in the water, but it was too dark to control her surroundings. The light from the ship illuminated the water below her feet, telling Lilac she was up side down sinking fast into the dark.
She struggled, trying to use all her swimming skills taught since childhood to turn her body towards the light. She struggled up, flapping towards it, till her head broke out of the water into the cold night air, letting her cough up sea water and gasp greedily for air.
"Help!" Lilac tried to make some noise. The large bright ship loomed over her. She ran her eyes through along the ships multiple cabin windows looking for someone, till her eyes settled on the deck railing above, meeting the figure of Eric staring down at her.
"Eric!" Lilac called to him, wonder if he could really sea her. He stood by the railing with three guards and some crew who quickly came to his side and looked down into the water silently.
Lilac was sure they had seen her. How could all those people be looking in the same direction at once if they were not looking at her.
"Eric! Help!" Lilac screamed. The waves were loud, but oddly arrived her voice far.
"Give me your gun," Eric said and a guard handed him a glock. Eric pointed the gun into the water and fired a shot. The shot sent a bullet though Lilac's shoulder. Pain shot through Lilac, weakening her body. She could no longer stay afloat as she quickly lost strength.
"Fish her out before the sharks get to her," Eric shouted an irritated command at someone and walked away.
Lilac felt her body loose energy and sink into the dark sea. The sea water was so dark, swallowing her quickly as it invaded her lungs.
Lilac woke up to sharp pain on her shoulder. She found herself back in her cabin. Sunlight rushed into the cabin from the windows as staff moved around.
When she recalled that Eric had shot her last night, Lilac felt a rush of fear as she saw her bags getting packed up.
"What are you doing?" She asked them, her eyes following them cautiously.
"Madam, you were injured and slept a few hours. The family has already left early this morning. Yoruba husband, Mr Black left instructions to take you back this evening," a staff said and Lilac realized somewhat. The pain in her heart hurt more than the pain on her shoulder, but she was at least glad that she did not need to face his family after her family successfully used her to frame them.
Most of all, she was glad she did not want to see Eric who had coldly shot her. She shivered when she recalled that moment. The staff packed up quickly and she was wheeled into a boat.
The sun had begun to set when the boat begun moving. Lilac closed her eyes to rest for a second. When she opens them again, it was dark outside. She got up and walked around the large boat but soon found that except herself, only the one captaining the boat was on board with her.
She wanted to go up to him to ask how long it would take when a sudden flood of light blinded her as it poured in through the window.
"On the ground, Mrs Black!" Someone ordered before Lilac was tackled unto the ground by government agents. She groaned in pain at the sudden attack. She was held down till she almost fainted from the pain.
"Search the ship!" The agent said.
"We found the weapons," someone announced.
"Last night, the Black family managed to invalidate our entire investigation and we found not even arrest Mr Black. But today, Illegal weapons and Mrs Black on board. Can the Black family escape this time?" The agent said, lowering his head till only Lilac could hear his words.
"Or it is better if you take the blame for your family's faults; right, Mrs Black?" The agent said and the next second, Lilac bolted awake.
She could hear loud helicopter blades and Eric was staring at her neck. Lilac met his cold eyes and shivered. What was that dream? Was it not a dream? Is it possible that she had not died when she had been pushed into the Sea by June in her last life? Why couldn't she remember? The scene was very similar to her last dream except the circumstances of her getting on that boat was different.
She suddenly realized that the last dream must have been a warning that she had gone through this before but had forgotten. So it is possible she had forgotten how she truly dies in her past life and even worse, when. Without this memory, how does she survive and escape traps?
Lilac's hands shook slightly as she stared at Eric in disbelief. She had assumed that the boat trap was set by Micheal when he took the Boat. But what if it was Eric all along?
