Chapter 86

Since they had no blood bond, Ayzel made Zain leave the room. He never wanted to leave Fraheen in this condition. But Ayzel's loathing for him forced him.

He was feeling like the most miserable and poor person alive on this planet. He could not claim any rights over Farheen, despite his wealth and power. The whole city feared him. Yet, he could not own a five-year-old child.

Even a poor labourer at the end of the day united with his children, but he could not.

When will the karma end? But why an innocent child paying the cost of it?

Only he and his Lord knew how he spent the night. Awakened in pain though he was not sick. He kept on asking about his fate.

If he could exchange all his wealth for Farheen's love and health, he would not have thought twice.

" I don't know, either I have to shed my blood or the whole world's blood to bring peace to my and my family's life." He whispered to himself.

On the other side, Ayzel, being a mother, was in worse condition. She also could not close her eyes for a second.

For the past few days, she has not slept due to recent trauma manifest in her soul and mind. Now Fraheen's illness deprived her of peace.

On a cold winter night, she was sitting on the balcony. The chill air had no effect on her. She was numb to her surroundings.

Suddenly the warmth of a blanket made her realise that she was still breathing.

It was Asma. She joined her.

"Asma Khala, why was I born that ominously? My existence is a curse. I killed my mother. A happy family destroyed by me. Now, my child is suffering because of me." Ayzel sniffled.

"No, my child, no. Don't say like that. You are ominous. It's the innocence that costs you." Asma was right.

At this moment, can someone blame her poverty for her misery? As her richest husband was in pain too.

Can money buy happiness? No one can answer it.

Then, without waiting, Ayzel put her head on Asma's shoulder and cried her heart out.

The next morning, there were no signs of fever in Farheen. But it had drained all the energy and colours from her. Her lips were dry and wrinkled. Her condition was pitiable.

Only with Zain's efforts did she eat her meal.

When she was taking a rest, Zain came to talk with Ayzel.

"After two days we have an appointment with a child specialist. He was out of the country now, otherwise, I would have taken her right now."

Ayzel nodded in return only. Her expressions were stone cold. When Zain was turning back he heard Ayzel once.

"Only my child is keeping me here and letting me see your face. Otherwise, I would have burned you and this prison." She was full of anger.

"Then burn me, now. Because my inside has been turned into ashes, but the fire inside did not diminish." He gave a broken smile and left.

But Farheen did not let them wait for 2 days. The very next morning, her condition worsened at the breakfast table.

She was having a breathing problem. Her face was turning colourless.

"FARHEEN! FARHEEN!" Ayzel was shouting her name. Her own hands were getting cold.

There was chaos.

Zain jumped two steps at a time. When he rushed downstairs.

Ayzel and Zain rushed to the hospital for Farheen.

The doctors admitted her immediately. But they were not releasing her soon. They gave Zain a list of tests they had to run on Farheen. Even the names of these tests made him shiver. But he did not say a word to Ayzel about this.

Ayzel was getting impatient.

"Zain, let's go home. I am familiar with the tactics employed by these hospitals. My daughter is fine. Only to make money, causingtro troubleubling us. These tests, keeping Farheen here for hours, are only giving us pain." But in reality, she was getting panicked. She was visibly shaking.

"Ayzel, Ayzel", Zain cupped her face. "Our daughter is fine. Let them do their procedures. InshaAllah, all tests will come out negative. And then I will sue them for making us worry." He tried hard to calm her.

Inside he was worried as hell. But he was keeping his inner turmoil at bay only for Ayzel. He was well aware of her little and weak heart.

Finally, after many hours of waiting, the doctor summoned them into his room.

And their heart told them that the news was not going to be well.

When they both entered the doctor's room, he asked them to sit in front of them.

Ayzel gulped hard and sat beside Zain.

"Doctor, I hope nothing is too serious that we can't handle." There was a request in Zain's words.

"I am afraid, Mr Zain. Can you tell me about Farheen's childhood? I mean she is still a child. But what was her development status during pregnancy? How was her birth? Any complication?" The doctor asked those questions which only Ayzel could answer.

But now Ayzel had to expose the truth? Will she do that?

Before Zain could encourage Ayzel to tell the truth, she started speaking sternly.

"No, she was not a healthy child since her birth. She was delivered at the 7th month. A premature birth. She could not get hospital services immediately after birth." Her face was devoid of any emotion. Zain was only looking at her face. Then she told the 5-year medical history of Farheen and Zain was aware of it a bit too as well.

The doctor only nodded once. He digested all the information.

He was still assuming that Farheen was adopted, for a reason, which he was going to expose.

"Doctor, please just tell us if there is any problem. So, we can start the treatment. Past is past." There was a rush in Zain's voice.

"Mr and Mrs Zain, the problem is that Farheen needs heart surgery ASAP." The doctor threw the first bomb at them.

"But a more serious issue is her blood group. She has a very rare blood group. Bombay blood group. I am afraid that you can find it in the whole country. But who has this blood group? Her mother? Her father?" Now who would answer that?

"I am her mother. My blood group is not that." Ayzel replied blankly. Zain never expected that Ayzel would admit this in front of him. His eyes widened. Face showed expressions of shock.

"And her father?" The doctor asked uncomfortably.

"He is no more. I murdered him." Ayzel's words were followed by complete silence.
