Chapter 89 Breakfast
Alessias pov
As she shuts the door I face Alex .Pulse picking up a beat , heart racing , mouth dry. I gulp hard and He locks his eyes on me for a moment before pulling me into his arms
“Don't worry Cara Mia ,the sooner your lessons start the sooner we can get out of here.”He rubs my arms as I slowly feel my pulse finally slowing down to normal.
I rest my head on his chest allowing his calm heartbeats to further anchor me . We stay like that for a few minutes before Alex pulls me to the sofa to sit and kisses my forehead .
“Alessia let me have a quick shower “ I turn to him “That's okay” his eyes linger on me for a few minutes before he heads to the door and locks it even though I dont think it can keep out a witch or warlock . Then he walks into the bathroom. As I sit in silence I have a vision of frederick the way he looked last night when he arrived and I shake if off “Stop thinking about him “ I do hope he can take a hint and stop bugging me with ghosts of our pasts . Let bygones be bygones for peace to reign .
After a short while Alex returns to the room . I run my eyes down slowly .He looks good in a black shirt and jeans that look as if they were made for him .Alex catches me drooling and smiles “It's all yours Alessia” I nod getting off the bed and dragging my suitcase along as I step into the bathroom.
I step out dressed in a simple beige gown .Alex takes a slow perusal up and down my body, his eyes scorching hot as warmth fills me then his face pulls into a smile. Dios I felt like I was being undressed with his eyes . I fiddle with my dress my fingers a bit shaky
Finally he says “You look lovely Alessia”
My cheeks feel warm under his gaze as I settle beside him on the sofa again “How are you feeling about all of this?”He asks as his atrong arms wrap around me.
I dont know if i should tell him exactly how I feel or the cut and dried option . I feel disorientated , confused , curious . A past I never knew about is pulling me unto its magical depths. “I just feel tired of all the secrets” I say finally “but I will be okay” .His eyes soften and he brushes his thumb along my jaw lingering for a moment
“Alessia,I meant what I said to Frederic last night”He tell me quietly as his palm holds my face in place for a moment “I will always protect you”
I gaze into his eyes and see a flash of something fierce , My heart aches as I close my hand on his.
“I know” I whisper ,Alex will not blink before killing Frederic and that both scares me and excites me at the same time. Before he can say anything elese there is a sharp knock on the door. Alex stiffens reluctantly removing his hand from my face. “I need to unlock the door” I nod and watch him as he takes quick strides to the room door and unlocks it with a sharp click sound . He opens the door a crack to peek
Maras chippy voice wafts through the door “Good morning Signor , I trust you slept well?”
“Morning, Si Grazie Mara. Did Enya send you”
“Si Signore ,I am to escort you both to the breakfast Room”she replies .Alex looks to me “Alessia are you ready?” I nod at him standing up and mentally preparing myself for today's round of unearthed secrets . I walk towards him as he opens the door wide and we step out of the room together.
Looking up my eyes meet Mara’s gentle brown eyes as she smiles at me “Good morning Princess, breakfast is ready if you will please follow me -”
I give her a small smile “ Morning Mara,sure lead the way”
I look to Alex “ What about Luca? Have you heard”
Before I finish asking both him and Angelica step out of their adjorning room .Angelica wearing a green simple gown and Luca wearing Navy blue jeans amd a t shirt.
His eyes meet mine. “Did I hear my name?”
His eyes crinkle in the corner as he wears a cheeky smile
Alex snorts.
“Yes Luca , Morning to you too” We all chuckle “It's time to eat come on”
Angelica gives me a nod and I return it as we all step behind Mara and she leads us out through the stone wall corridor. We take a myriad of turns before we finally end up in the common room . I let out a queit huff of frustration turning to Alex “Will you be able to get us back to our rooms ?” he shakes his head “The turns are too many and all the walls look the same .” I turn to Luca “what about you ?” he shakes his head “I thought Alex was paying attention” Angelica giggles by his side. Someone kept him distracted obviously . I turn back to the front tugging on Alex’s arm. “Alex I think it’s important that we pay more attention to their routes perhaps you can ask Enya for a map?” Alex purses his lips for a moment then smiles “ Yeah sure that's a clever idea ” Leaning on to his shoulder we step in the common room which is unusually quiet .
Surprised I ask “ Mara where is everyone?”
She pauses turning to give me a brief smile “ We eat most meals together in the large dining room everyone is there now ”
She takes a slight turn to the left and we arrive at a large wooden double door .The lively hum of the conversations being carried out inside reaching us.
Mara pushes the door open , Squeezing Alex’s arm for courage once more . I take a deep breath as we step into the large Dining room.
