Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Jaxon
My foot is killing me. I need a distraction right now, or I am going to start crying like a freaking baby or something embarrassing like that.
Aria climbs into the car, and I sit up a little straighter. She’s mumbling under her breath as she buckles herself in. I watch her closely and can tell she’s worried. People like to think they can hide their emotions so well, but I’ve always been good at reading those emotions. Aria is actually a pretty easy read if you know how to see it.
I wanted a distraction, and I just found it! Make Aria smile.
Once she’s settled, she takes out her phone and sends a quick message before pocketing it again.
“Everything okay?” I ask her.
She gives me a tight smile and nods. “Yeah. Everything is fine.”
Translation: everything is not fine, but she doesn’t want to talk about it.
Understood.
My pain flares up when I shift to get more comfortable, and I bit back any sound that might give away how terrible this feels. I need to focus on something else. I glance at Aria and decide to play with her a little. So I shift in my seat so that my head is leaning more in her direction. I lift my injured foot up a little to make it seem like I’m trying to elevate it more. She pushes a hand out to stabilize my shoulder.
“What are you doing?” She asks.
“What do you mean?” I ask, playing dumb.
I hear the driver’s door close, but I stay focused on Aria. “Stop moving!”
“I’m just trying to get comfortable,” I say and smile at her.
“You leaning like that won’t be comfortable for anyone.” She says.
“If you move just a little closer, it would be,” I say back.
She shakes her head and scoffs. “Nice try.”
“What do you mean? I’m not trying anything!” I play offended, but I’m most definitely trying something.
“You’re trying to lay on me.” She says.
“I’m simply trying to elevate my leg. You don’t want me to be uncomfortable, do you? I was shot in the foot. Doesn’t that earn me a little compassion?”
She gives me an unimpressed look, and I shrug. “Guess you don’t care that I’m hurt.”
I turn away from her and act wounded. Then I hear her sigh, which makes me smile to myself.
“I know how to help the pain, or at least get your mind off it for a while.” She says.
My neck cracks a little when I quickly turn my head to look at her. Her eyes shift over to Roman.
“Roman.” Aria’s voice sounds a little nervous.
“Yes?” He asks.
“So before we get to the hospital, there is something I need to do.” She says, and my eyes widen a little.
“What?” Roman asks.
She sighs. “I need to bond with Jaxon.”
There is a long silence before Roman replies with a simple, “Okay”.
“Okay then.” She says.
She blows out a breath and turns her body to face me more.
Panic takes over quickly. She wants to bond with me..in the car…on the way to the hospital…with Roman here?
I’ve dated many girls over the years, and never have I been as scared of a woman as I am in this moment.
“Are you sure you want to do this now? I mean, it’s a bit rushed, don’t you think?” I blurt out.
Aria nods. “I don’t want there to be any issues when we get there. If you aren’t bonded, they might not give you proper treatment, or they might try to separate us. I don’t want that. It’s too dangerous for me to let you out of my sight. We stick together no matter what. Okay?”
I stare at her, slack-jawed and blinking like she’s just grown another head.
Of course, we talked about bonding with her. It was decided. Now that it’s happening, though, I’m nervous. If we do this, Aria will be the last woman I will ever be with. She will be everything to me. My Alpha. My person. Am I ready for that?
“Jaxon? Are you ready?” She asks as she moves closer.
My body is frozen, but I manage a small nod. It’s like my body has made its choice before my mind has fully processed it. She nods back, takes a deep breath, and slides one of her hands along the side of my neck. The second she touches me, warmth slides along my skin, making me relax instantly. Is she using some kind of Alpha trick on me? How is she doing that?
I feel her lean closer, and she moves my head to expose the other side of my throat. She doesn’t have to pull hard for me to do what she wants. It’s like I’m under her control. Then I feel her breath against my skin, and I shiver. There is a second when everything is very silent, and then she bites down on my neck.
First, there is an intense amount of pain that I nearly scream, but my voice is silent. Just as fast, though, the pain passes, and a rush of electricity jolts through me and goes directly down to my dick. It gets hard immediately, and I let an embarrassing whimper. The car swerves for a second, and I feel Aria release me and says something, but just as fast her lips are on me again. Then her tongue laps along the area where she’s bitten me.
Each swipe makes my body jolt and feel like my blood is crying out to her. Especially the blood rushing south of my belt. My mind has gone completely blank. Everything in my body is zeroed in on one thing…her. Without thinking, I turn and grab her, pulling her onto my lap. She lets out a small sound of surprise, but must be feeling the same pull as me, because as soon as she is in front of me, her lips are on mine. I can taste the metallic flavor of my blood, but it doesn’t turn me off at all.
Maybe it’s morbid to admit this, but it actually turns me on even more. Then she starts to move her hips harder against me, and my head starts to spin. My whole body is burning up with desire, so I start grabbing at her shirt and pulling it over her head. She’s wearing a thin lace bra that I all but tear off her and throw it away. My mouth is on her as soon as the thin material is gone. She moans as I taste her skin, and the sound only makes me more desperate for more.
She pushes my chest, breaking our kiss. I want to protest, but when she moves back on my lap and starts to undo the buttons on my pants, any protests I was about to make die on my tongue. I hear a choking sound come from behind Aria. When I lean my head to look around her, I see Roman’s wide eyes looking back at me, and I can’t fight the urge to smile.
