Chapter 138
Anna
"You found the men?"
I asked.
"No, but we have good reason to believe they were involved,"
I nodded, feeling bad. Duncan was a brilliant man and even so more ruthless. Under normal circumstances, he would have found out what was going on but the problem was that there was a mole and he was sleeping with her.
Duncan and had not talked about the fact that I had gone on a date with Viktor ece since
Something told me he was scared to know the truth and I was very okay with that fear.
"Duncan, don't you think you're getting a little too obsessed with this..."
"Obsessed? Someone is targeting you and one of my most trusted friends got killed, although I don't quite trust him anymore and you got abducted. If anything I need to put on the work,"
"I understand but those men are probably long gone."
"That's why I'll be fishing them out. They hurt you, they hurt me. Nobody hurts what belongs to me."
I let out a sigh.
"Duncan," Lucas called out from behind, his usual playful expression absent.
"What's wrong? Why do you look so pale?" He asked.
"An elder managed to get into the compound,"
Duncan stiffened.
"How?" Duncan demanded, his voice hard and sharp. He didn't look happy.
Elders?
I vaguely remember Levi had said something about them a while back but I couldn't for the life of me remember what he'd said.
"He ran in as we drove in and we kind of hit him with our car,"
"You were right behind me, Lucas!"
Duncan yelled.
"He did it on purpose, he knew what he was doing,"
"Oh for fuck sakes!" I groaned in annoyance.
"You want me to bring him in or throw him out,"
Duncan glared at him before nodding
"Send him in,"
Lucas nodded and left.
"What's going on?" I asked Duncan.
He looked at me and sighed heavily.
It's a long unpleasant story," he sighed, his eyes turning almost a crimson yellow.
I opened my mouth to speak but closed it again when Lucas carried a man wearing odd clothing into the foyer.
The man was heavily injured and his bone seemed to be poking out of knew.
I scrunched up my nose. That didn't look good. I had the urge to yell at them to take him to the hospital. But then I remembered that they could heal really fast. Although something told me that they would need to take him to the hospital. That was bad.
"Is he going to be okay?" I asked.
"He'll be of we call a doctor to look at it,"
"A doctor? Won't that arouse suspicion?" I asked.
"Our doctor, Anna. He's one of us."
"Oh... of course,
I nodded.
"Your Grace, we are in trouble. We need you back at the pack,"
He managed to choke out.
Your Grace?
What the hell?
Duncan glared at the man with the most contempt I had seen on anyone lately.
"Take him to guest house, have thw doctor look at his wounds,"
"Sure thing," Lucas said and carried him back outside where the guest house was located...
I turned to Duncan whose expression was now completely unreadable.
He looked over at me.
"Your Grace?" I raised a questioning brow.
"Don't remind me," I growled and turned towards the living room and bean to walk.
Curious, I followed Duncan, trailing behind him.
He was tense now. His shoulder was rigid and his fists clenched.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think he was about to throw a mean punch.
I followed him all the way to the lounge room.
He posted himself a drink from the mini bar and took a swig. It wasn't coke this time too. It was whiskey...
He stood just three feet away watching him.
"There's no need to stand there like a lost child, Anna. Come,"
His voice was gruff as he spoke. I walked towards him now that I had been given permission.
"Wanna talk about it?"
"No," he said with a finality that I was very sure arguing with him was pointless...
"Can I have some of that? I asked , changing the question.
He raised a brow at me
"What are you? A hardened Criminal?"
I rolled my eyes.
"Only hardeened criminals drink whiskey?'
"Yes, and the devil."
"You're such a weird man,"
He chuckled.
"A weird man, huh...most people would call me dangerous,"
"Maybe when I hadn't seen you buck naked,"
Duncan grabbed with a quickness that his movements were simple a blur.
He placed me over his knee and spanked me.
The pain spread throughouy my behind and I yelped.
"What was that for?"
"It was for disrespecting me," he grinned.
"Disrespect? All I did was say the truth. I've seen you buck naked, pudding. Don't worry you're sexy,"
He was about to spank me again when he stopped.
"Pudding?"
"Yeah, pudding. It's my nick name for you,"
I couldn't be sure but I could have sworn I saw him blush.
"You like it!?" I asked, still bent over on his lap.
The scene was ridiculous but somehow hot.
"Yeah," he blushed again and I burst out laughing.
"What's funny?"
"You're blushing, pudding,"
"I am not and stop making me so happy. I'm supposed to be extremely upset."
"I see. Why are you so upset?" I asked.
He sighed.
"That man, the else... he's from my old pack,"
"You never really told me about your pack," I said...
Duncan let go of me and I straightened.
"I did. I just told you an altered version of the story. During the Auction,"
Oh, that as right. I vaguely remembered what he happened in the auction and how he'd told me a story of his old life.
"Okay," i nodded, waiting for him to go on.
"My father was the Alpha of his pack. He cheated on my mother with a human. The human caused my mother's death. We found out that my uncle had used and had made her tell a great lie against my father. we were driven off the pack, shamed out. The elders want me back but I'm never going back,"
He spat.
"I'm so sorry, Duncan,"
"It's fine. Iost my brother that day."
"You had a brother?"
