Chapter 9: Chapter Nine

*Enzo*

She was completely obvious on what she wanted. I couldn’t deny that I wasn’t flattered by it. And was obvious she wasn’t telling the entire truth of what she was doing by the bathroom door. It was also obvious of who and why. I wasn’t blind to what the stewardess was trying to accomplish. It unfortunately happens all the time. Some were quite subtle about it, but I sometimes get the real brazen ones every now and then.

This one met in the middle of both.

She wasn’t brave enough to do a feel up on my body, but she wasn’t exactly hiding her desire of wanting to fuck me either. Her smoky look was meant to be seductive. I just find it irksome to deal with.

Especially when Gabby was present by my side. It’s not like I could just get them to all stop. I’m so used to it that I plainly ignore them now. Which this stewardess was no exception. I never taken up any offers and I don’t plan on doing it now.

But Gabby didn’t know that.

She noticed we were both missing and her mind went flying in imagination land. It was pretty clear on what she was doing and thinking about. The thing that interested me was why was it even bothering her in the first place.

I may have gotten a little carried away, however. It was fun watching her reactions. Especially when I drew closer to her. Her body heat was like a magnetic pull that I just couldn’t avoid. And that was dangerous. I only meant to open the door for her, but I was too caught up in the sudden game I was dangerously playing.

I almost kissed her.

And if it wasn’t for Charlie suddenly standing up in my peripheral vision I don’t think anything would have stopped me from doing it. That was too close of a call. This is not what I meant to do when I saw her standing there with her ear pressed up to the door like a nosy little brat that she was trying to be.

Thank fuck I thought quickly and opened the door just right when our lips nearly touched.

“Did you need to use it?” I ask, can’t helping the sudden smirk seeing her eyes closed and her lips perked up, waiting.

The embarrassment on her face, a face that was maturing beautifully, was immediate.

“Yes!” She gasps and quickly dashed through the door, not looking at me as she slams it in my face.

I couldn’t help smiling at the closed barrier between us and move back to my seat.

“What were you doing in the front?” Domenico questioned, not taking his eyes off the phone in his hand that was showcasing half naked women on beaches.

I roll my eyes. “Talking to the pilot.” Was my curt response as I continued on. Charlie had sat back down, a raised eyebrow shooting in my direction, but I just ignore it.

As soon as I sit down the stewardess magically appears from behind the curtain just up ahead near the cockpit. Beaming a smile at me, she leans down a little too close. I could see she loosened a few buttons of her blouse displaying her white globes and lacy black bra. It was impossible not to notice when she was practically shoving them in my face like that.

It seems this woman had no shame whatsoever.

“Would you like me to get you anything, sir?” Her tone was sweet and suggestive.

It was damn near purring as her eyes sparkled with heat. Averting my eyes I scowl looking out the window, before looking directly onto her face once more.

“Yes, could you prepare a meal and a beverage for Miss Russo, please.” I don’t give her a smile as I look away indicating I was done talking to her.

“Oh…well, the flight will be landing soon and providing a meal now will be pointless. If the miss is able to wait a little…longer…” She stops talking, her smile faltering as she notices my hard glare and set jaw.

I wasn’t trying to be rude, but she was slightly pissing me off.

“I-I’ll get right on it, sir.” She says meekly and immediately stands back up, retreating back to the staff lounge.

Sometimes a look is all that’s needed to get them to back the hell off. Taking one more glance in her direction I couldn’t help smirking as the girl quickly rebuttons her blouse, a pink tint to her entire face.

I almost felt bad…almost.

I hear light footsteps behind me and straighten up a bit. Retrieving my tablet I pretend like I’m doing actual work. Which I wasn’t. It was all a ploy to focus and pay my utmost attention to the young woman who was currently causing havoc in my life for the last eighteen hours or so.

She doesn’t think it, but I was highly aware of her every move. The staring didn’t go unnoticed. And I let her take her fill of me all she wanted. When she asked me if I remembered her, I almost admitted the truth. But it was amusing to see her all flustered. The jab, however, made me feel ashamed.

But she didn’t know the truth.

How could she when not even my grandfather knew? In due time maybe one day she’ll forgive me for breaking that promise. And judging by her hurt tone, it had affected her for a long time. I didn’t ever think she held on to the hope of my return. But it made me upset to hear that from her. And not wanting to give myself away, I quickly shut down the conversation.

And while she slept, I had all the time to watch her. She didn’t resemble Alejandro Russo all that much, so it had to be her mother she took after the most. She was average size for someone who was maybe five foot six, five foot seven. But her growing up hadn’t fully registered in my brain.

She had been so young back then, just a child really. If memory serves me correctly, I think she had been around thirteen or so. Which meant she was twenty or twenty-one now. A full-grown adult with the personality of someone who didn’t scare easily.

That part may have come from her father. She was beautiful though. A beauty that screamed innocence, elegance, and refinement. She was a woman who portrayed loyalty and honestly above everything. She actually reminded me of my mother and grandmother.

Nowadays it was difficult to find an old soul like that. It made me curious and very intrigued to get to know her more. And I was hoping being somewhere familiar would get her to relax and open up a little.

If her mother had died six months ago then she hadn’t been in New York for very long, that included being around her father. I highly like the fact that she was raised in a small town with ordinary simple people. She wasn’t corrupted by the power and the riches of our ancestors, who had died and fought to achieve their assets, no matter how illegally it had been.

I also liked the fact that she didn’t snub people either. She was courteous and kind to Charlie whenever they interacted. She was even polite to the stewardess, even when the woman ignored assisting her more than half the time.

The only time I seen her be rude to anyone was to Domenico, and that was completely warranted. The dumbass deserved her disrespect and mistreatment. Hell, I myself wanted to thrash him good for putting his hands on her. It doesn’t matter if he was mistaken on who she was. The fact that he tried to maul her while she was still half unconscious nearly caused me to murder his ass.

Thank God, she bashed him on the side of the head with that lamp. If he had died, I wouldn’t have blamed her one bit. Once he told me the story of their first encounter it had taken every ounce of my being to keep me from ringing his neck and suffocating him to death.

“So, where we’re going, will I be able to see the sunlight?” Gabby interrupts my thoughts.

I scoff at her question, almost wanting to answer that she’ll be locked away in a dark, dank dungeon until I deem it was suitable to emerge out of her hole. But I bit back my response and tell her the truth instead.

“Of course, you’ll see sunlight. You’re not a prisoner.”

The silence was deafening, and I already knew what she was thinking. Her look said it all as she gave me a deadpan glare.

My grin grew. “At least on the grounds you won’t be.” I chuckle.

“How reassuring.” She mumbled with distaste, looking away from me as she settled more comfortably in her seat.

Just then the stewardess comes out with a tray that held a covered dish. She stops right next to Gabby, who looked quite confused.

“The gentlemen here ordered a meal for you. Please enjoy, miss.”

I wanted to laugh, my chest beaming with happiness at the look of pure shock on her face. It transformed her into a younger version of herself that I remembered quite fondly. She went to open her mouth, probably to rebut the offer only for her stomach to make an announcement right then. I wanted to burst out laughing when her entire face reddens with embarrassment.

She clears her throat and smiles at the woman. “Thank you.” And takes the tray from her. She doesn’t say another word as she eats to her heart’s content.

I lean back against the headrest, a small smile playing on my lips, closing my eyes hoping to get a little shuteye before we hit our destination when suddenly she gasps in surprise. I quickly look over to her to see she was staring out the window. I too do the same and see why she was so shocked.

My chest tightens at the familiar scenery. The jet starts to descend just as the overhead speaker turns on.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please put on your seatbelts for we have reached our destination of Crested Butt, Colorado and are ready to land.”
