Chapter 33

Lila's POV:

Once through, I went to the living room, where I met Natalie. She saw me and smiled affirmatively. I let out a sigh.

"You ready?" She asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be." I replied warily.

Chad came to join me soon after.

"Can I come along?" He asked. Natalie shook her head.

"Um… that won't be necessary," Natalie replied.

"I'll call you if anything comes up," I muttered, and he nodded, gently pulling my cheeks. After bidding my mom and the rest of the guys goodbye, I walked out of the house and got into the car. The driver started it up and we drove out.

I leaned back and laid my head on the window, lost in thought.

We soon arrived at Beamlights headquarters and I got down from the car. We made our way into the company and up the elevator. When we got to Nikita's office, we met with the secretary. She'd asked us if we had an appointment and, when we declined, had wanted to dismiss us until Natalie showed her her badge. Then she let us in. Not us, me. Natalie didn't want to come in with me, but she placed a microphone on me so I could hear whatever Nikita had to say.

When I walked in, Nikita was backing the door. My heart pounded as I looked around the room. It was very musical and had tons of awards and albums scattered all over. There were even pictures of CG here. I let my gaze wander before it settled on the woman before me.

"Well, well, well… What do we have here?" Nikita said, and she turned. Her expression was not the one I was expecting. It was like she had been expecting me to show up. With her hands clasped together and an evil grin on her face. I felt chills down my spine.

"Isn't the almighty Lila?" She drawled as she placed her elbows on the table. I inhaled and tried to look tough.

"Nikita, you know why am here right?" I asked, my voice coming out quieter than intended.

"Well, of course I do, you're here to take back what was originally yours, right?"

Not knowing what to say, I nodded. Gosh, her stares are creepy.

"First, I'd like to congratulate you for finding out who you really her. Second," she broke off as she stood up and walked towards me, her eyes sending daggers at me. "I'd like to warn you and your mom not to try anything stupid, or else…"

"Or else what?"

"Or else… Let me see," she said and raised her head thoughtfully, then snapped it back in place. "I'm going to hurt you… By hurting the ones you love, how does that sound?"

Something about Nikita's snicker makes me want to run out of this office. She is actually more dangerous than she looks.

"You wouldn't dare." I muttered through gritted teeth.

"Oh, I will dare. Just wait and see. You just do something stupid. So if you love yourself, I would suggest that you keep your little revelation to yourself."

"That's never happening."

"The get prepared to face the consequences," she muttered. She tried to touch my cheeks, but I slapped it off, tears burning my eyes. Slowly I walked out of the office and closed the door opens.

I wasn't sure if I was breathing at all in that office cause when I got out, I started gasping for breath, tears spilling out from my eyes. I hurriedly cleaned it off. Natalie came towards and I stared at her.

"You heard everything, right?" I whispered. She nodded.

"She doesn't seem scared one bit. It can only mean one thing. She has a plan. We had better watch our backs."

My heart skipped a beat at hearing Natalie say that.

Nikita's POV:

My confident poise disappeared as I watched Lila leave my office. No matter how complicated things are, I must not show my weakness.

I need to look for a way to cover my tracks. I picked up my phone and call Mason. He picks up at the first ring.

"Hello? Do you have everything set?" I ask.

"Yes," came the ominous reply.

"Great…" I replied and hung up.

Ximena's POV:

I boiled in fury as I walked towards Alya. I had found from Min ho that the rest of the Sparks already knew that I wasn't CG's daughter and there's only one person who can do something like that. She was busy with her nails when I arrived.

"How dare you!" I yelled as I got to her, slamming my fists on the table.

She looked up at me and beamed. "Hey sis! How are you?"

"Now don't you dare ask me that!" I thundered. She recoiled. "How the fuck does the Sparks know that am not CG's real daughter?"

"The Sparks?" She sounded bewildered. "I only told Dean."

I huffed in surprise.

"You… Told Dean!?" I squeaked. "Wasn't it supposed to be a secret? Now they all know! It's just a matter how far time before the rest of the world knows!" I yelled, hoping she'd at least feel some remorse. Alya only snickered.

"Come to think of it, I was actually doing it for you."

"What do you mean you were doing for us?"

"When I told Dean you weren't CG's biological daughter, I dropped the suggestion that I could be." She replied as a matter of fact.

What? How is that supposed to help?

"Bitch… They already know Lila is the real daughter!"

"Trust me, it's for your own good. You can't keep lying you're CG's daughter when you're not. It's better a few people know so it can be erased quickly. How do you people will feel when Lila comes out herself to prove it? And by that time, there's nothing anybody can do about it."

I stopped fuming.

"I can't believe I came here to talk to you." I muttered underneath my breath before walking away as I heard Alya snickers behind me.

Lila's POV:

I arrived back at the penthouse and narrated everything I experienced back to them. Mom was shocked beyond words and Chad's expression was… Well, unreadable.

"She really said that?" my mom asked again.

"Yep… Told me if I tried to do anything, the people I love will get hurt. Whatever she means, it's not good."

"That monster!" My mom gritted through clenched teeth. "She should really pay for what she's done!"

I sighed worriedly.

"What are we going to do? We have to get Nikita out of there."

Mom ran her hands through her hair.

"Right now, I don't even know what to do." She muttered honestly.

Suddenly Chad stood up and began walking out.

"Chad… Where are you going?" I asked, as I stared at him.

"I'll be right back." was the only thing he said before walking out the door. I looked at everyone in the room before standing up and rushing after him.

"Chad! Chad! Wait up!" I called out, running to meet up with him. He didn't slow down.

"Where are you going?" I asked when I finally got to him.

"To see Nikita." He replied curtly.

"What? Are you crazy!? Didn't you hear the threat she made."

"I'm pretty sure it's nothing. I just want to talk to her, that's all." He said calmly, but his expression deflected the words. I was already shaking my head.

"I'm pretty sure it's not nothing. You're forgetting that she had a hand in my dad's death. If she can kill him, killing another person wouldn't be impossible."

Chad stopped only for a moment as I looked at him in the eyes. I could see the hesitation but they were soon erased.

"Doesn't matter… Somebody had got to do something." He said and made to leave. I grabbed him by the hands, hoping to stop him.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine." But I was already shaking my head. I didn't trust Nikita one bit. He held my husband in the cheeks and spoke again, this time more slowly.

"I promise."

That's when I let him go. I watched him get into one of the cars and drive out of the house. I still didn't feel right.

After standing outside for a while, I made to go in. My phone rang, and I picked it up. It was an unknown number. Frowning slightly, I put the phone to my ears.

"Hello, who is this? I said Into the phone."

"I warned you, didn't I?"

My heart skipped a beat and my palms became sweaty upon hearing that voice. I removed my phone from my ears and put it back.

"How the hell did you…?"

"How the hell got your number? Let's just say I have my ways."

"What do you want?"

"Let's just say… I came to remind you, just in case you've forgotten, that I don't make empty threats."

"But I did nothing."

"Chad left the house, didn't he?"

My heartbeat sped up and my hands shook.

"I warned you Lila, now you'll have to pay for the consequences of not heeding to my warning. Have a goodnight."

"Wait… Hold up!" I said, but the line already went dead.

Frantic with fear, I made to call Chad. It was switched off. I didn't get it. Didn't he just leave the house minutes ago? What Nikita had said replayed in my head. Oh my gosh, no.

Chad.
