Chapter 57

Alex’s POV

Last night; after Jessi spoke with her mum, she came back to the room happy and content again. I knew talking with Aunty Cyndy; oops Mum, would help her. She had Olivia and Toby over as well and told all three of us Mum’s hunch. It would be good to know who and what exactly we are dealing with.

We both get to the bottom of the pack house and everyone is there; including our enforcers. They are all wanting to come over to the leader’s meeting this morning and I agreed. I think we may need a bigger room if all our leaders have the same problem.

“Are you ready to give your information Mum?” I ask her. “Yes; I want to know what symptoms Liam displayed coming down from his high. I will have a better understanding what may be in Lace.”

We get to the Arena and like I thought, there is a lot more people than just the Alphas, Lunas, Bettas and Gammas. We decided to hold the meeting in the arena itself. Jessica, Mum and myself go over to Samantha, Raoul, Bronson, Judy, Kevin and Percy; while the others find a seat in one of the bleachers.

“Sam, Raoul; good to see you both. Percy, or Liam if he will permit, can you tell me what your symptoms were when you were coming down from your high on Lace?” Mum asks him. Percy closes his eyes and Liam comes forward. I don’t know what this has to do with anything; but I would get headaches. My heart would start to race. I would be anxious and agitated all the time and my stomach would cramp up. I have seen others sweating profoundly and not sleep for days. We would all crave to have more of it and went feral until we got it. Why do you ask?”

“What you are describing is what I originally thought; you had an opioid addiction. I will have to look into it a bit more but I may be able to trace who makes such a drug” she tells him. “You are telling us; you may be able to find out who is producing the drug?” Bronson asks mum. “I am not 100 percent sure but I may be able to narrow it down, yes. May I speak with everyone here?”

Liam moves behind Kevin and allows Percy to come forward again; however, we can still see him behind Percy’s eyes.

“Can we all settle down; please take your seats” Samantha calls out to the crowd. Everyone settles down and takes their seat; she looks back at Mum “The room is yours.”

Jessi gives mum a hug and whispers to her; “let me introduce you first mum, I will explain how you know these things.” Mum hugs her back and Jessica moves forward.

“Hi everyone; before Cynthia comes up and explains a few things. I want you all to understand her background and how she knows some of the information she knows. My mother” she looks behind her and gives Mum a huge smile, her dimple showing. “Has a PhD in Chemistry. She may be able to narrow down who may be producing Lace, if not who they are selling it to.” There were murmurs through the bleachers.”

“Mum” Jessica says “How will you know who is producing the drug” Timothy yells out “Tim, let me explain everything first and then I will answer your questions. Every Pharmacist has their own unique method of producing drugs. The high Liam explained is most likely from an antidepressant rather than straight out opioids; however, there is no antidepressant out there; which is addictive to our counterparts. It must be laced with an Opioid; from the symptoms coming down from the high Liam has just told me. Hence the name Lace. If I am able to determine what is in the drug itself, I can pinpoint who is making the drug or at least see who is buying large quantities of each drug to combine the two.”

“How will you be able to do that?” Brian asks. “The best way is to get a sample of the drug, for testing; however, if we can’t obtain a sample, we can get a blood sample off someone who is on it and test that way. It is not as accurate though.”

“Also; No more wolf serum” Uncle Joe starts; everyone turns to look at him. “We spoke with Elder Matthews last night. It will cage whoever is inside the mind. If you want to cage the counterpart, you will have to make sure the human form is in control of the body and it won’t work if they are in wolf, bear or cat form” he finishes.

“I spoke with Gerry; he is willing to come and put protections around any safe houses we have in the Fungua Pride Territory. Due to the number on Lace itself; they will not be able to come back into the territory; he thinks it is better to put them around the safehouses only” Rami includes.

“It looks as though you have got most in order, now to come up with a plan of attack” Bronson chuckles.

“Myself, Romeo, Jerome and Ronald came up with a few ideas last night; however, that was before we knew about Cynthia” Renee points out. “We may be able to revise it a bit; still keep the same plan but instead look at getting a sample. We go to the bar Percy purchased the drugs for the first time. Have a Betta and Gamma roll play a scenario to get a dealer to sell them the drug and bring the drug back to Cynthia for testing” Jerome injects. “That’s plausible; we just need a Betta and Gamma to do it” Harvey tells everyone. “We’ll do it” we all look around; Nathanial and Adrian stand up with their hand in the air.

“Cyndy what do you need and I will get it to the Fungua Pride” Bronson asks. “I will need a mass spectrometer; it will break down the components and tell me how much of each is in the drug. I will also need my laptop to see who produces what. I know they are not cheap; talk to Alex and Toby” “and me” Tim says “me too” Rami puts his hand up “Don’t forget me” Cameron yells out “all of us” Renee informs “we will all help” Seth includes. Samantha beams at everyone.

“How soon would you like to start?” Judy asks the crowd. “How soon can we get the safehouses and protections in place?” Tim calls out. “I already have them started; give us a month to complete. Exactly how many of you will be coming?” Bronson asks and I start to chuckle “not as many as we had at the Emerald Moon fight, I will say everyone in this arena; that is enough to help you and we will try and get as many as we can off the drugs also. Doc Spencer; will you be coming as well?” “I wouldn’t miss it” she replies.

Judy starts crying; “thank you everyone. You don’t know how much this means to Bronson and I” Jessica gives her a hug; “we have a fair idea” she whispers.
