Chapter 34 Chapter Thirty-Four
Demi's Point Of View
"Demi, come on, Let's do a racing game," Kyle called out, grabbing my hand. His eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "I bet I can beat you"
"Challenge accepted," I grinned, feeling the rush of adrenaline as we approached the racing cabinets.
The game started, and we took our places, fingers ready on the controls.
We raced through virtual city streets, avoiding obstacles, drifting around corners, and laughing hysterically at each other's mistakes.
Kyle’s competitive spirit was getting infectious. He cheered loudly every time he won a round, and I couldn't help but laugh along with him.
Robin stood nearby, watching us with an amused smile, occasionally joining in to challenge Kyle himself.
The arcade was now filled with laughter, cheers, and the clatter of coins.
After a few rounds, we took a break to grab some snacks from the food court.
I leaned against the table, munching on a slice of pizza, feeling completely relaxed.
The sun streamed through the skylights, casting a warm glow over everything.
"Today's been awesome," Kyle said, sipping his soda. "I'm glad we didn't let anything ruin it."
"Yeah," Robin agreed, grabbing some fries. "Sometimes you just gotta forget the drama and have fun."
As we finished eating, I looked around and spotted Alex, who was surprisingly chatting with Chris, Noah was near the clothing stores buying more clothes.
They seemed to be discussing something animatedly, using their hands to make gestures.
Alex caught my gaze, and I saw a genuine smile spread across his face and my heart skipped a beat at his handsomeness.
Feeling a surge of happiness, I motioned for him to come over but he shook his head and kept talking to Chris who was I can promised glared at me before returning his gaze back to Alex.
‘Well that was weird’ I mentally thought.
I decided to tackle that issue for latter and just paid attention to the friends that were with me.
We decided to head to the mall's central plaza, where a live band was performing.
The music was lively and upbeat, the kind that made you want to dance.
Without thinking twice, I grabbed Kyle’s hand and pulled him onto the makeshift dance floor.
Noah and the others-except Chris and Alex- soon joined us, laughing and twirling to the rhythm.
For a moment, it felt like nothing else mattered, just us, the music, and the pure joy of being together.
I closed my eyes and let the melodies wash over me, feeling safe and happy in this moment with my friends.
Later, we wandered to a bookstore, flipping through colorful pages and sharing our favorite stories.
Robin pointed out a fantasy novel he loved, and I promised to read it soon.
We also browsed through the teen section, picking out comics to add to our collection.
As the afternoon turned into evening, the mall started to wind down, but our energy didn't fade.
We decided to go see a movie in the theater.
The previews were hilarious, and the film was even better, making us laugh until our sides hurt.
Sitting in the dark theater, I looked around at my friends, I’m happy my parents decided to move here four years ago.
"Today was nice," Kyle said, stretching his arms. "We should do this more often."
"Definitely," Noah agreed, grinning. “I really needed these new clothes, oh and hanging out with you guys was fun. I missed it” I nodded.
I was about to say something when I felt Alex pull at my arm, dragging out the mall.
“Good night guys, see you in school” I yelled out as my best friend pulled me away from our group.
