Chapter 7

**ROSEANA**

I slammed the door to my bedroom shut. I closed my eyes slightly when it created a loud bang. I jumped on my bed like a lady out of her head, as if I were competing in a swimming Olympic. I buried my face in my bed and screamed to get my feelings out. I was still not satisfied, so I grabbed the pillow and viciously smacked it against the bed.

Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! What did I do? That was very humiliating.

All I want is to fulfill my duties as his wife so that I may at least compensate for his help, but what exactly is this? My life was quiet before I entered his room, but now I'm not sure.

What had happened was replaying in my head like a broken record.

When I heard a faint knock on my door, I stopped ranting. "Roseana, are you okay?" Damon said, making my cheeks flush even more. I feel like I'm going to burst with embarrassment.

I know Damon' is teasing me again, even though I can't see him. It was clear in his sweet voice. His voice is not like that on a normal basis.

He even inquired about how I was doing. Really? Is he confident that I'll be fine following a close encounter with his underwear?

"I have to leave; I won't be able to eat breakfast with you because I have an early meeting with a client."

I blinked a couple of times. It's a shame he can't eat the breakfast I prepared for him. I got up early to cook for him, but it turns out he won't be able to dine with me again.

"I'll order you food delivery so you don't have to cook for lunch," he added.

I didn't hear anything else from him after that, so I assumed he'd left. I pushed myself out of bed. My hair was comparable to a bird's nest.

I let out a long sigh. "Forget it, Roseana. It's not that big of a deal." I mutter to myself, trying to persuade my mind to forget the idiocy I did in front of Damon.

My hands are straightening my untidy hair as I drag myself out of bed.

"By the way, I'd appreciate it if you didn't take my underwear."

After hearing what he said, I almost fell to my knees. My shyness had returned. I thought he'd already gone!

"Damon!" I yelled, my face flushed with embarrassment. I heard his laugh before I heard the front door shut.

I took a deep breath. I made sure he was gone before leaving my room.

"How can I possibly finish all these foods?" I mutter to myself.

I cooked a simple meal for Damon. That's hardly much, but the food is for two people. I won't be able to finish them all.

I've been married to Damon for over a month now. I've been at his penthouse for about a month now as well. At first, I was hesitant to move in with him. Who wouldn't, after all? It would be more shocking if I went with him right away, wouldn't it? Yes, we are married, but it is clear that we are both strangers to each other.

But he's determined. He immediately took me here after our civil wedding. He told me that he is now half in charge of my life because I am now married to him. And it makes some sense to me. Miss Fuentebella is no longer my name. I am now a Salvestre.

Damon was obviously wealthy when I first met him. I was expecting it because of his expensive car, but I had no idea he was this rich. He lives in a penthouse! He also claims to be the owner of a small company.

That is likely why his grandparents encouraged him to marry their business partner. Isn't that how wealthy people are? To maintain and keep their wealth, they usually marry someone of the same social standing as them.

That is what is frequently shown on television. In Damon's case, he doesn't want his life to be ruled by someone. He does not want to follow his family's wishes. That's when I enter the picture. He saw me as a way to escape his family's plan for him.

I know that we are both using each other for our benefit. I am using him to protect myself from Cedrick while he is using me to avoid his family's plan for him. But that doesn't affect the fact that we are still married, at least for the time being.

I owe a lot to Damon. That is why, while we are still married, I want to repay him by being a nice wife to him.

I was thinking so much that I didn't realize I'd eaten my meal. I covered the remaining food. It would be a pity if I dumped it.

My laundry was the next thing I did. Damon's house has a washing machine and dryer, so I had no trouble doing laundry.

He got them when I moved in so I wouldn't tire myself out washing his laundry, which I insisted on doing.

I was searching through my old cellphone while waiting for my clothes to dry. I walked into my room to find where I had put it. I only remember it being in my bag. I haven't touched my phone since Cedrick tracked my whereabouts since I was afraid he'd call.

"Is this still working?" I wondered. I double-checked my keypad phone. Its screen is shattered, the back case is falling off, so I fixed it with a rubber band, and it lacks a camera. My cell phone's functions are limited to text messaging and phone calls.

I turned on the phone, and despite its damage, it surprisingly still worked. It's simply a used cellphone. On the market, I paid only five hundred pesos for it.

When I unlocked my cellphone, my inbox was swamped with texts and mixed calls, the majority of which were from Macy's, my coworker. My coworkers bombarded me with text messages, wondering where I was and why I hadn't shown up for work.

Reading their SMS messages made my heart race. They're asking if I'm okay and expressing their concern for me. I didn't expect them to be worried about me.

My initial plan was to simply message them so they wouldn't be worried about me. But instead, I decided to visit Macy's boarding house. Besides, I don't have anything else to do at Damon's house. I'm also sure that Macy will not allow me to communicate with her solely by text, especially after I suddenly didn't show up.

I messaged her and told her I'd pay her a visit at her boarding house, and she responded right away. I even laughed a little when she immediately called me.

"Hey!" I greeted casually.

"Roseana? Is this you?!" she yelled on the other end of the line, forcing me to remove my phone from my ear.

"I thought something bad happened to you! Where are you now? Do you know that we are all worried about you because you suddenly disappeared? We all thought you went with your boyfriend and moved away, but then we remembered you don't even have a boyfriend!" her extended litany on the other line.

What she said made me giggle.

"The breadth of your imagination," I remarked.

On the other end of the line, I could hear her scoff.

"But, Roseana, what happened to you? Why did you vanish so abruptly?" she wondered.

"I'll drop by your boarding place. Isn't today your day off?"

"Actually, I was supposed to have a date today with the man I met on a dating app, but because you are more important to me, I'll cancel my appointment today just so I can meet you."

What she said made me giggle.

I just changed my clothes and then headed to Macy's.
