Chapter 10

**ROSEANA**

Damon glanced at me as if he'd done nothing. When I tried to stand up, he didn't even move. He gripped my waist so hard I couldn't move away from him.

I flinched as he tightened his grip on me. "Stay still, Roseana. I am trying to ease my anger toward you." He spoke fiercely. I closed my eyes firmly as I felt him bite my ear.

I tried to stop him from doing what he was doing. If someone sees us, it will be embarrassing. It's also a bit nerve-racking for me. With the force of its hammering, it feels like a hundred horses are chasing my chest. He was still talking to me, and I could feel his hot breath flowing out every time he spoke, but I couldn't comprehend what he was saying. My heart is throbbing so loudly that I can't hear anything.

"Damon, stop it! Your men are here!" I yelled, trying to push him away from me. It seemed he had no intention of letting me go from sitting on his lap, so I considered distancing myself from him.

I tried to push his chest away from me, but he only held one of my two hands. I can't sleep any longer.

"You're making me even angrier, Roseana. You know, I hate hard-headed brats. Do you want to know what I do to those who disobey me? I teach them lessons," he whispered, sending goosebumps down my spine.

"What are you going to do? Spank me?" I responded like a jerk. I even gave him a sidelong glance.

I expected him to be angry because of my arrogant response to him, but that did not happen. He loosened his grip on my hand and my waist. It's as if it just sits on my skin, and his firm grip on me relaxes as his shoulder shakes.

I attempted to catch a glimpse of his face. I'm sitting on his lap sideways, so I can't see his reaction.

"Are you laughing at me?" I said, my face furrowed.

I received no response from him. He had his face buried in my hair.

Wait, do I smell? I was gone for a few hours, not to mention I had cried earlier. I sweat a lot. Suddenly, I felt conscious of whether or not I smelled bad.

Why am I even thinking in this way? What does it matter to him if I stink? It's normal to sweat after walking in the sun. I mentally smack my head to get myself to quit overthinking.

"I like that. Damon's deep voice brought me back to reality. He likes what? What is he talking about?

"Huh?" I tried looking at him again, and this time I succeeded. My gaze is locked on him, and his is fixed on mine.

He repeated, "I like that."

"I think I'll enjoy spanking you," he remarked with a smile. "No, I think I'll like it. Do you want to give it a shot?"

It took me a few moments to understand what he was saying.

"Damon!" I muttered. My hand moved automatically and pinched him in the arms. I checked to see if his men heard what he said, but they didn't. They are minding their own business. I could exhale a sigh of relief.

"What? You're the one who came up with that idea."

"Well, Mister," I reasoned, "I was being sarcastic when I said that."

The man simply shrugged his shoulders, as if he did not agree with what I said. He has his own set of views that he refuses to change. My brow furrowed.

Rather than argue with him, I invited him to his penthouse. The fact that we have so many guards is embarrassing. They look at us with wonder. They're probably wondering why there are so many men in black in the lobby. With so many guards surrounding us, they could believe the president was here.

"Are you that excited to be spanked by me?" Damon continually teases me about spanking me.

It's very difficult to predict this man's mood. He was enraged and threatening to shoot his guys just a second ago, and now he's smiling and making jokes about me.

"I want to go home. I'm tired and need to rest, okay? Also, aren’t you an embarrassment to the other residents of this building? You guys looked like goons gathering around," I explained.

"Well, if it wasn't for someone who abruptly left without letting me know where she would go, they wouldn't be here," he replied, his face showing seriousness.

I should have just shut my mouth. Sometimes we are the only ones who cause ourselves harm by opening our mouths and not thinking before we speak.

"Did I worry you that much?" I asked bluntly. I gave him a big smile, believing he was worried about me. I know it's wrong for him to vent his rage on his employees, but I can't help but smile knowing this is the result of my leaving him.

"I don't." He only spoke two words, but they were enough to take my smile away. I came to a stop.

“Right,” I grumbled.

"Roseana, aren't you coming inside?" he inquired.

"Coming!" I said before walking towards the elevator. Martinez, his secretary, came in after him.

Inside the elevator, the three of us were deafeningly quiet. I kept my head low and fiddled with my fingers.

Damon was the first to exit the elevator when it opened. I simply followed him. I was expecting Martinez to come after us, but when I looked back, the elevator door had closed.

"Watch your step," Damon said as my forehead collided with his chest. I didn't know he'd stopped walking and was staring at me.

"Oh!" I grumbled. My head bounced off his rock-hard chest.

"Why are you always looking at other men when I'm right here with you?" his brows knit as his jaw clenched firmly.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, unaware.

I couldn't make out what he said. He said that out of nowhere. I'm not even sure where his words came from. Instead of clarifying his intentions, he simply left me in front of the door. He slammed the door shut with all his might. He acts like a child having a tantrum.

As I opened the door, I shook my head. After that, I gently closed it. I kept a close eye on the silent closing of the door. "You can close the door gently, so why bother slamming it?" I reasoned.

"Excuse me?" I was nearly startled out of my spot when I heard his deep voice behind me. The shock almost caused me to have a heart attack.

I was hesitant to smile at him. "Hello, you're still there; I thought you'd gone to your room."

He didn't say anything and only raised an eyebrow at me. This man is a snob.

"Ah, I was checking to see if the door could be closed gently without making that loud thud that you made just a moment ago, and I came to the conclusion that, yes, it can be closed gently, and nothing bad happened when I closed it gently," I explained. I even pretended to smile at him.

I can't describe Damon's reaction when he heard what I said. I can only say one thing: I am certain he did not even imagine what I said. I had to stop giggling at his expression. After hearing my response, he seemed confused. Perhaps he is wondering why he chose me to marry out of all the women in the world. Perhaps he was wondering if I was still sane.

"Jesus!" he exclaimed as he turned away from me. I couldn't stop myself from laughing. He appeared to be both stupid and cute.

I followed Damon to his room. That's where he went after he walked out on me.

I'm wiping the corners of my eyes because I'm laughing so hard. I'm laughing so hard that my stomach hurts.

"Hey, why did you leave me there alone? I still wanted to talk to you," I said as I barged into his room, catching him taking off his watch and placing it on the bedside table.

"Are you angry already?"

I laughed and stepped closer to him, saying, "I'm just starting to tease you, and you get angry right away."

"Fuck, Roseana, you're trying my patience."

I'm not sure how it happened, but I found myself lying on his bed, my face on his mattress, and a stinging sensation on my butt. What the hell!
