Chapter 79
“What is it, Leon?”
“It’s time to start up again, Simon.”
“You mean at a club?”
“Yes. It’s what I do best, and you know the money I can make for you.”
“But it always seems to end badly.”
“Nothing lasts forever, and business cycles run down. But you can’t be scared of that. Seize the opportunities, or someone else will. I know the organization is always looking for additional locations or mergers.”
“It’s a hard sell to the colleagues, Leon.”
“Would they prefer I started up a club for your competitors?”
“After all we’ve done for you?” Simon could not conceal the sarcastic tone.
Leon smiled in response.
“We’ve had plenty of history, and the scoreboard is about even.”
“From your perspective. There is still your cousin Mark to consider.”
“I did things your way. He went down, and I didn’t raise my voice in protest. And I told you he would keep his mouth shut.”
“We’ll consider your proposal. I’ll be in touch.”

While Simon was considering how to present Leon’s idea to the colleagues, Sam Trenchard arrived with the latest package.
“Did you enjoy your time off?”
“Just a couple of days. I like to keep busy.”
“Any problems to report?”
“No. The goods and electronics are there for your review.”
“Very good. Here is your next assignment.”
As Sam walked away, he reconsidered his retirement plans. What would he do, sit on the beach? Things with Simon had never been better. The nest egg was still there if he needed it.
