Chapter 81: Inseparable

Daphne

I needed to be alone.

As much as I loved my brothers and Bella, Hailey and the other pack members, I was starting to feel irritated by everything. That was probably because I couldn’t sleep, and when I did sleep, I was having nightmares. Even food wasn’t as appealing to me as it normally was.

And Nate was on my mind. All. The. Time. And to be honest, I would rather lose myself in my memories and my day dreams than chit chat with the members of my pack. Finally I packed up my backpack. “I’m headed to the library,” I told Bella as I breezed out the door. “I need to do some research for my thesis.”

Bella gave me a funny look, but she made no attempt to stop me. Probably because the nearest library was very small, just a half of the first floor of the community building. It smelled like old books and had just two computers, also dinosaurs, set up on a work table against one wall. It was staffed by a few retired ladies, who did it more for the love of books than the meager hourly wage.

It was not a place for serious research.

Still, I smiled a greeting at the blue-haired lady behind the desk, and then pulled out a chair in front of one of the computers. I walked around the shelves and stacks of books, and contemplated the few options they had on the subject of psychology, the brain, and human development. Most of which I had already read over the course of my education. I picked up a title that looked promising and carried it back to my seat.

I didn’t need more research. My thesis paper was almost completed. I was in the process of sorting out relevant data to include as evidence, and then I would be ready to edit and revise and get it polished for final submission.

The book in front of me was just for distraction. Just to try and get my mind off from Nate for one damned minute.

The little bell jingled over the door repeatedly as more patrons entered the small library. Most of them appeared to be middle aged or retired women. They chatted quietly with the librarian and each other, using their polite library voices, which made it easy for me to tune them out. I was surprised that a little community library was getting so much traffic this late in the afternoon.

I forced my eyes back to the pages discussing the psychological impacts of the pressure to conform to the quailities that society deems normal and acceptable. Weight, fashion, financial status, marital status, procreation expectations. It was all very fascinating, except…

Why was it getting so warm in there? Had the librarian turned up the heat?

I felt my heart beating heavily in my chest, and lifted a hand to press it against my sternum. Nate’s face flickered through my mind. Almost always so stern, so serious, but when he smiled, oh my. That smile was enough to melt my insides, just as they were starting to liquify at that very moment. And his eyes, he had gorgeous, dark, mysterious eyes, full of secrets, full of promises. And when he looked at me, with lust smoldering in their depths…

Oh goddess, I had to stop, or I was going to combust right there in the public library! I cleared my throat and lifted the book, wishing I’d thought to pack a water bottle in my backpack for this impromptu study-session.

Focus on the book. Focus on the fundamentals of self-concept and self-esteem… focus on anything besides the fact that I was so fixated on Nate that I could practically feel his hands on my body. The text on the pages in front of my face blurred and swam about in my vision, as I imagined his mouth on my breasts.

Not only imagined, or remembered, but felt it. I could feel the heat and the moisture, and my n.ipples were puckering in response, poking against my shirt, making their feelings quite obvious to anyone who might glance at my front. I hunched my shoulders to make it less obvious, but the sensations didn’t stop. I gasped softly as the sensations slid lower, down my body, and I grew even warmer, so much so that I felt beads of sweat forming on my neck.

I turned my head to see if the old ladies had noticed that I was having some kind of nuclear melt down at the work table. Most of them still seemed occupied with their own things. Browsing books, chatting, and the librarian was checking in a stack of books that one of the ladies had just returned.

I turned back, gripping the edge of the table as the swirling, hot sensation became even more urgent. My eyelashes fluttered and I gave in, closed my eyes, and of course, Nate materialized before me. His large, rough hands were on my thighs, pressing them apart, while his mouth found my core.

“I should go. I should get out of here, because obviously, I’m having some kind of psychotic break!” I whispered the command to myself, but my body refused, and my mind kept playing the x-rated fantasy in real time. I opened my thighs wider. I was sitting at the table, no one would notice. I clenched my teeth together and tried to stifle the moan that demanded release from my lips.

What the hell was this?

I sucked in a deep breath and peeled my fingers off the table. I forced my eyes open, but I could still feel everything. Even though I was fully clothed, wearing a pair of jeans, I could feel Nate’s mouth moving against my sex and I could feel him moving inside me, as though he had slid his fingers between my folds to pleasure me.

“Ah,” I gulped down the sound, as it felt like his teeth had grazed my clit. I could feel my own arousal soaking through my underwear.

It was more than just my pleasure, it seemed like I was feeling his pleasure too, like I could feel his blood thrumming through his veins, the quickness of his breath, the throbbing in his loins. I tried to stuff my notebook and my pens back into the backpack, as some sense of self preservation remained, urging me to leave, at least get to the ladies room.

But it was too late. The pleasure was too much. I could no more stand up and walk than I could fly. The fact that I was in a library faded away, the presence of the ladies milling around the big, open room became so inconsequential it was like they didn’t exist, and I couldn’t find the wherewithal to care that the librarian was giving me a disapproving look over her bifocal glasses.

Nate was there. That was everything. He was my everything. I gave up the fight and let the sensations overwhelm my body, until I was coming. I was coming in Nate’s arms, his mouth was drowning me in sweet, deep kisses, his c.ock was buried in me. I wasn’t sitting in a chair, I was sitting in his lap, and oh…

The final shudder racked my body, and I fell against the table, resting my forehead on the unread book as I panted for breath.

The too-real ghost of Nate faded, and I once again became aware of my surroundings. The cool pages of the book being soiled by my sweaty forehead, the hard seat of the chair under my bum, and the absolute, ear-ringing silence of the library around me. I lifted my head and looked around, and found all six of the ladies staring at me. As soon as I looked up, they looked away, pretending they hadn’t just watched me come apart.

Horrified, I scooped up my things, abandoned the book on the table, and surged to my feet. My legs were still trembling from the aftermath of the orgasm, and each step was trembling and uncertain.

Just as I reached for the door handle, I heard one of the ladies hiss to the other, “I don’t know what she was reading, but I need that book!”
