"Did you take care of everything?"
Oliv's voice rang out in greeting, as his footsteps entered their organization's main headquarters in Fortwill.
After finishing his conversation with Lexton earlier, the man already seemed more focused now. Because the burden that he had previously carried alone, he had now shared with the Alpha.
Lexton's words to help him meet Joaquin and maybe even his son, really made the spirit in Oliv's chest flare up again.
Abi answered with a nod, seemingly focused on a tab in her hand.
"John's got information that they might be moving in tonight to attack," the man said. "You know, I'm really impressed with John's abilities because he has a really smart brain to hack anything. Do you think he might be able to hack into the International Bank system?"
Oliv came closer and landed a pat on Abi's shoulder. Stepping towards the refrigerator, the man's boots made a loud knocking sound.
Opening the fridge, Oliv grabbed a few cans of beer from inside.
"It might be possible," the man replied casually. "Should we try and get John to hack it after the fight?"
A small chuckle escaped Abi's lips. But the man was still focused on the screen, scanning the map he'd been looking at.
"Beer?"
Oliv handed his friend a can of beer, then sat down opposite Abi now. Having opened the can first, Oliv enjoyed how the sensation of the cold beer passed through his throat and quenched any thirst.
"Are you sure they'll really attack us, Oliver?"
Abi raised his head, shifting his gaze to look at Oliv.
"Maybe," Oliv replied. "Isn't that what John heard earlier?"
Abi seemed to think for a moment, followed by nodding his head. John hacked into the communication device Jovanka was using, so that every detail of her conversation could be clearly heard by them.
Now not only did Oliv and the others know what plans the enemy was preparing, they also believed that she was working with David Senegal.
"I've never met or dealt with David's people," Abi said honestly. "How are they? Are they hard to conquer?"
During his time with the organization, Abizar had never been involved with actual combat. What the young man knew was that the Senegalese were one of his organization's business partners.
He was confused at first, but Oliv had told him to swallow his curiosity whole.
Oliv finished half the can in a few gulps, before pulling up a chair to put his feet up there.
"Are you curious?" the man asked back. "You'll prove it tonight, so come prepared with your best weapons."
Abi shrugged.
"Come on, tell me!" she pleaded again. "With 60 people about to attack, shouldn't we be getting ready now? 60 people is not a small number, you know!"
Abi's tone reflexively rose, implying how much the young man seemed to be looking forward to what was going to happen tonight.
Oliv pulled the corners of his lips. Forming a small smile, which also implied a sense of humor there.
Abizar's brow furrowed, just as he found Oliv looking strangely at him.
"For a big class battle tonight, don't you think we're too relaxed, Oliver?" asked the young man again.
Oliv understood the fighting spirit that was probably burning inside Abi's chest. Finally having attained the status of a fighter, the man was really going to fight a real battle.
"Who said we were relaxing?" Oliv replied, still followed by a small laugh.
Abizar was heard sighing, but he was still waiting for the answer to his question.
Oliv leaned his stout body on the chair, just about to close his eyes when he now spoke softly.
"It's not relaxing, Abizar," the man said. "But all fighters are enjoying a quiet period. So enjoy your quiet time, before you risk it all tonight."
Lexton glanced repeatedly at Aurora.
The hands on the watch the man wore kept moving, now that the darkness of the sky had returned to cover the earth.
Deciding not to say anything about their plans for tonight, Lexton hoped that Aurora would sleep well tonight. Without having to think about what the man would do, without having to worry about what happened to their fighters.
But it seemed Aurora's hazel bead was still wide open, as if sleepiness had not yet set in.
"Why are you watching me, Mr. Lexton?" Aurora looked up, letting her beautiful bead meet Lexton's dusky eyeballs.
The woman was holding a gadget in her right hand, in Lexton's arms right on top of their bed.
Moving a hand to stroke Aurora's hair, Lexton opened his voice.
"Do I have to have a reason to pay attention to you, darling?" he asked.
Aurora blushed. Although it wasn't the first time she was in the Alpha's arms, it was just that Aurora was still so easily excited by every single thing and word Lexton said to her.
"Of course, you must have a reason."
Lexton cleared his throat. His fingers did not stop moving, stroking Aurora's mane that was so silky and soft feeling.
"You're beautiful," Lexton praised. "Very beautiful, no matter what angle you look at it from. That's why I like looking at you."
And Lexton's reply made Aurora chuckle, followed by the woman moving her hand to place her watch on the nightstand.
Facing the Alpha, Aurora tightened their embrace even more. It was as if this was their favorite position, and neither of them was willing to let go.
"Really?" asked Aurora to confirm. Her fingers trailed down Lexton's chest, with a smile still etched on her face.
Lexton nodded without hesitation, letting Aurora's fingers play over the surface of his skin.
"Of course they do," the man remarked. "Don't you realize that your beauty has turned my world upside down, Aurora?"
Aurora blushed even more, as if she wanted to fly away like Superman. Lexton curved a smile, before leaning closer to kiss his beloved's cheek.
"I'm sorry that we have to postpone our return that was supposed to be tonight," he said. "You don't mind skipping tomorrow, do you? Because it turns out that I still have something to finish until tomorrow morning."
Aurora exhaled, then nodded slowly. Being next to Lexton like this, the woman almost forgot her nature as a student.
"No problem," Aurora said. "I thought I'd like my college routine, but now I like something else."
Lexton cleared his throat, fixing his eyes on his girlfriend.
"You like something else? What is it? Tell me."
Aurora's fingers were still playing over Lexton's skin, moving in random patterns.
"You want to know, Mr. Lexton?" she asked. "Come here, I'll whisper it to you."
Lexton moved closer, erasing the distance that still stood between him and Aurora. The young woman went to Lexton's right ear, deliberately exhaling into the Alpha's nape.
Aurora's lips lightly touched Lexton's earlobe, before she whispered in a very low tone.
"I'd rather be by your side right now," she whispered. "What if I quit college, and follow you wherever you go from now on?"
Pulling her face away, Aurora saw that Lexton's face was now radiant. The man bit his lip with a teasing look, pleased that Arora had just turned him on.
"Good idea, darling," the man greeted without wasting any time. "You by my side, every day, every second."
Aurora was just about to open her voice when Lexton pulled her closer. Landing his lips on hers, Lexton played a quick game of pickup and brought Aurora to start their game.
Briefly glancing at his watch, the man counted and realized he still had three hours left before he had to get ready and leave for the base.
Intending to put Aurora through the wringer tonight, Lexton hoped that she would be able to fall asleep after their game ended.
While his fighters were enjoying the quiet time in their own way, the Alpha was also enjoying his own quiet time.
Only this time was different, because Aurora was right there with him.
Completely carrying out his earlier intention as planned, Lexton breathed a sigh of relief when he found that Aurora seemed to have been lulled into a dream an hour later.
Pulling the blanket to cover her body, Lexton hurried to get out of bed. Tidying up his clothes that were scattered on the floor, he changed into the black-and-black suit that had become his organization's identity.
Tucking two pistols around his waist, Lexton also brought two medium-sized daggers with him this time.
Staring at his dashing reflection that night, the gleam in Lexton's eyes suggested that he was ready for anything.
Stepping slowly back towards the bed, the Alpha landed a deep peck on Aurora's forehead. Noticing how the woman who stole his heart was already fast asleep, Lexton gave Aurora's cheek a touch now.
"Wish me a safe return tomorrow morning, Aurora," Lexton whispered softly. "Because now I have a reason to live, because I know you'll be waiting for me."
Aurora's breathing rose and fell regularly, indicating that she had fallen asleep in her dreams.
Straightening up, Lexton still looked at Aurora for a few seconds, before turning away.
His boots made contact with the floor, as he sped towards the door.
The Alpha's erect body now signaled that he was ready for the battle that awaited him ahead.
A battle that he must win, until he can return safely to the arms of his lover.
