Chapter 19
**Roxane**
I became more and more irritated as the hours went on. I had been trying to find Jared for several hours with no luck. Since Magnus' funeral, he hadn't sought me out or paid me any attention, and I could feel him slipping through my fingers like grains of sand. Damn!!! I had to act faster than I thought, or I would lose this male. Just as I was about to give up, a delicious scent suddenly appeared on my path.
Smiling to myself, I just purred out his name and ran as fast as I could, ready to intercept him, until another scent began to appear. A female scent covered his body, and it wasn't mine. The purr becomes a growl and I speed up, hurtling towards him like a hurricane.
**Jared**.
I was still a little shaken up and confused by what happened with Katerine. My feelings were a mess, but even so, I knew I would be happy to have her in my arms all night long. If I wasn't so worried about my sister Andrea, I probably would be.
Lost in these thoughts, all of a sudden my keen sense of smell immediately detected the approach of Roxane. I knew that I could no longer avoid this confrontation, so as a man, and especially as an Alpha, I stopped and waited for the woman that I no longer desired.
**Roxane**
Totally out of breath, I arrive in the vicinity of the place where Jared had been sitting. He was calm and looking at me as if he was expecting us to meet. My neck instantly shivered and I cautiously approached him. The scent of the other female came to my nose, more intense than before, and I tried to keep my anger under control. In a second I was in my human form and the curious words came from my mouth.
"Can you explain to me why, after all this time and without seeking me out, you have the scent of another woman all over your body?"
**Jared**
" I don't understand your question," I say innocently as I analyze Roxane's posture. As always, she was naked, trying to seduce me with her perfect body, but that was exactly what our relationship was, lust, nothing else.
" I was very specific!!" I try to calm down and take a few steps towards him, using my naked body to seduce him. "The only scent that should be in your body is mine!!!"
**Jared**
"I think the only one who can say who should be in my body or not... is me, not you!" I inhale and exhale slowly, preparing for a fight. Deep down I didn't mind, I knew it was time to put an end to what we had, especially when she put her hands on her rounded hips, showing her breasts high and sensual, always ready to provoke the fire in me. She was not only beautiful, but passionate, yet another woman comes to my mind. Her warm body, soft skin, and her scent still craved all over me. Since I'd tasted Katherine's lips, she'd been the only one who'd turned me on, and the only one I'd wanted to please.
**Roxane**
" What? " I asked, stopping a few inches in front of him. "What do you mean by that?" I ask in a surprised tone.
**Jared**
"I never said that there was going to be something more serious between us." I pointed out with a firm but calm voice. I intended to have a good end to this relationship. "When we slept together for the first time, I've always been crystal clear that I love my freedom." I breathed deeply, frustrated. "Haven't I? "
**Roxane**
" Yeah. But..."
I did not doubt that I was one second away from losing what I had with this man. In that second I decided to end this discussion before it was too late. "Listen, Jared..." I grabbed him by the neck and held him there before I bit my lips and muttered. "I never asked for more than we had." I knew it was time to let lust take over this situation, so I rubbed my body into him, trying to set his body on fire. Maybe that way he would remember all the good times we had together, and that I was better than any other woman he could desire. "Let's keep it that way!"
**Jared**.
" Roxane! " I simply placed both hands on her hips, pushing her away and not allowing her bold tongue to enter my mouth as I felt her teeth tighten around my lip. "Let's stop this," I sigh anxiously, holding her gaze as I analyze the change in her expression in a matter of seconds. "I know it's sudden. But let's end whatever we have, here and now, okay?"
**Roxane**
"You can't be serious?" I said with a lustful voice. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, and I rubbed against him even harder, my hand sliding over his smooth skin and down to his member. Jared liked a challenge, and he was getting one right there.
**JAred**
" I'm not kidding!!!" I said, grabbing her hand tightly before she could touch me.
**Roxane**
" I don't believe you!" Jared stops me from caressing him, for the first time, and I just stand there, stunned, staring at him. "We can achieve so much together, Jared."
**Jared**
Roxane, you know very well that we are not soul mates." Jared released her hand and stepped away from her naked body. "I never had any intention of claiming you, and you always knew that!!!
**Roxane**.
" You are talking about soulmates Jared?" I said smiling ironically. "I'm not a believer in that sort of thing. We can be together and happy too. I walked over to him again, proud and with a tender smile. "I like you and we are good in bed. That is enough for me.
**Jared**
" But it's not enough for me," I said with a firm voice, my eyes fixed on hers. "Let's end this before someone gets hurt."
**Roxane**
"I think it's already too late for that." I took a step back and crossed my arms. Showing how much I was starting to get irritated, I asked with a cold smile on my face. "Who the hell is she?"
**Jared** asks.
"I never said there was another woman!" I said, Asher's eyes appreciating my body as if I were her prey. She always used seduction to get me, but things had changed. I grab her arms and hug her tightly. She would be a good mate, a good match, but in my heart, I didn't feel it; her scent wasn't mine. "Listen, what happened between us was exciting, but it's not enough for me anymore," I tenderly caress her face before looking into her eyes and adding. "Now I want more than lust in my life!"
**Roxane**
" I see!" I say thoughtfully for a moment.
**JAred**
" I'm glad you understand. " I notice the disappointment on Roxane's face as she takes two steps back, but it only takes a few seconds for a somber expression to replace the disappointment.
**Roxane**.
" And Katerine can give you more than I can?" I ask ironically. "You're thinking of her when you say that, aren't you?"
**Jared**
"This is about us, there is no one else involved."My heart beats faster and my body becomes alert as I hear the cold tone of her voice when she mentions Katerine.
**Roxane**
Don't lie to me!!!" I growl more irritated. "I see the way you look at her."
**Jarred**
" Ok Roxane, if you want me to be honest, I will." Taking a deep breath, I decided to be cruel to her, since she could leave on good terms. I had to put an end to this and release these repressed emotions that the beautiful and innocent Kat had caused. "We have no control over the heart, and my feelings for you have changed. "
**Roxane**
" I knew it !" I confront him with anger. "Are you in love with her? "
**Jared**
"I said my feelings for you have changed. Why do you insist on talking about someone else..." With a deep breath, I added. "I wanted to be honest. But if that's not enough, I'll speak as your Alpha." I look her intensely in the eyes and my growl shows my authoritative and dominant side. "It's over between us, is that clear?"
**Roxane**
" Perfectly clear!" I take a step back when I see his gaze turn lupine. He was intimidating when he became wild and in rage, so I had the instinct to respect and obey at that moment, but I wouldn't give up so easily. In an attempt to calm the wolf, I gently stroked his face before I said with a forced smile. "It was nice while it lasted." Transforming into a wolf, I run towards the forest, looking back only once with a mental promise.
If I wasn't the right woman for him, no one else would be. I would be personally sure of that, especially if he had Katerine in mind.
