Chapter 13 I'M LEAVING.
13.
~KIMBERLY~
The Next Morning.
It's the first time we don't have to wake up due to the alarm sound blasting our ears in Frederick's Rollers house and it feels surreal. I've never slept so peacefully like this in my life.
Although, I'm not living the way I wanted but maybe I don't have to live in some certain way I think it is the best for me to have peace.
The soft glow of the sun creeps into the room, making me aware that it's morning already and I'm yet to leave my bed after the sun is up.
"Hey." Cora taps me by my arms softly, I open my eyes slowly just to meet a teary face.
"You feel it too right?" She sniffles, trying to stifle her tears.
"Yeah." I breathe out a reply, pulling her into a hug.
Gosh, we're so in sync, what would I have done without her?
"Uhmm, I need to talk to you." She stutters, an uncomfortable smile latches on her face.
I sit up straight immediately, facing her squarely, Cora slowly wraps her hands in mine and tug me closer.
"Is there a problem?"
She chuckles ruefully and shakes her head."No, actually, I want to apologize for judging you yesterday,I...I'm sorry."
My eyes widen in surprise because the last thing Cora would ever do is judge me, she was only protecting me yesterday which I understood her perfectly.
"No, you didn't judge me, I know you were only scared and trust me, I don't take it as an offence."
"But I think you're in good hands, he's someone you can trust."
I feel relaxed knowing that Cora doesn't think Rafael is a bad person but where's this coming from?
"Did you guys..."
She cut me off with a nod."We talked last night, and I've decided to live for myself once. I will relocate but..."
"Cora." My eyes blur in tears immediately, it makes me happy that Cora is living for herself once but the thought of not being around her scares me.
"I'm sorry, I know this will rattle you a little,but...."
"Not little, hell, I don't even know how I will cope without you."
"We will still see each other, Rafael will definitely allow you to..."
"I don't have to take permission from him." I roll my eyes, trying to fight the urge to smile.
We've only been apart for a few hours and I already miss teasing him.
Cora laughs and nods.
"How about the expenses, I mean..."
"Rafael promised to sponsor me and I don't feel guilty about it one bit."
"Good, because I'm going to start working for him so I can pay mine too, I already feel indebted to him."
"It's alright."
After small talks about last night's dinner, Cora decides to use the bathroom while I go downstairs to prepare coffee for us.
I put on one of the robes I found in the almost empty closet, maybe this will be my room as soon as Cora is gone, I don't know yet.
Getting to the kitchen, Rafael is already there making some poached eggs but the choking burnt smell of his cooking throws me off, making me cough.
He turns to me and gives me a lopsided grin.
"Jesus, you're such a horrible cook." I scoff.
"Good morning to you too, Wifey." He hands me a cup of steaming coffee.
I glare at him before chugging it down, it's so delicious and perfect to taste, I wonder how he knows what I like.
"You know we don't have to pretend when people aren't around us?" I scold, ignoring the fact that him calling me his wife tickles me a bit, fuck, I must be sick in the head.
"What's the fun there?"He shrugs, winking at me before dishing the food in three proportions.
I notice he's already in a suit and ready to go to work.
Wait, did he make breakfast for us before going to work?
"I won't be coming home early, I have many things to do today."
"I don't care." I scoff, staring down at my cup of empty coffee.
"There's two new phones in the living room and a credit card, you can go out with her if you want. Do you know how to drive?"I shake my head at his question.
"But Cora knows how to drive."
He nods, arranging his suit but it's kind of crooked.
"Good, don't get into trouble, I don't..." I cut him off by splaying my hands on his hard toned chest. "Wait, what are you doing?"
"Just stay still." I snap in a playful tone, glaring at him.
After arranging it, he pulls his well arranged hair back and clears his throat.
"Bye." He mouths, walking out of the kitchen without touching his food but I don't bother asking, maybe he's not a breakfast person.
"And Rafael, about Cora."
He turns back to me,, his eyebrows jerks together in a frown.
"Thank you."
