So what do you want for supper kids? Olivia asks when they entered the house.

We love Mac and Cheese Mike suggested.

Oh yes we do love Mac and Cheese Cindy says all excited.

Well then I will make you your favourite tonight she replies.

Cindy and Mike, Ally calls the twins.

Yes Aunty, Cindy says and Mike gave his full attention as well.

I need to go over my studies, is it okay if I go to my bedroom and leave the two of you with Aunty Olivia?

Yes it’s okay Aunty but can we watch some more cartoons please? Mike asks.

Yes please Aunty Al, Cindy begged as well.

You can watch some more cartoons but I want you to take a bath later and go to bed early Ally suggested.

Are we going to school Aunty? Cindy asks.

The school close by wants to see the two of you tomorrow at 09h00 so it’s best if you are well rested Ally suggested.

We going to a different school Mike, Cindy says all excited.

Yes but what about our friends Cindy? Mike asks.

You will make more friends Mike Ally says. This school have all kinds of activities that you guys will really love.

I guess then it’s okay Aunty, Mike gave in.

Now go and watch your cartoons and I will see you later Ally instructed.

She left for her room and started going through her notes for the upcoming test tomorrow afternoon. This was decided by the board of the university that she and Melissa can both come and write their exams. Melissa will do her’s a week from today. Her phone ran and she saw it was her mother.

Hi Mommy, how you doing? She ask.

I’m well my darling Liz replies. Did you speak to Melissa about her and the kids living with you?

Yes mom I did, she was not okay with the idea at first simply because she don’t want to be a problem but somehow I convinced her Ally reply.

That’s good my child, we will make your monthly allowance more so that you guys won’t have any financial issues Dave says.

Thank you mom and dad for your support. Melissa is a wonderful woman and the kids is so cute and well behaved.

We can’t wait to meet our grandkids Dave says and everyone was laughing.

Yes we will give them time to settle in and fly back in two weeks’ time Liz says.

Thank you mom and dad I’m sure Mel will really appreciate this.

Keep well and be careful my child you don’t know what this man is capable of Dave says. I will send a guard to watch you guys.

No need for that dad but thank you. We will be just fine Ally says.

They ended the call and Ally returned back to her studies.

Melissa was lying in her bed thinking. Her parents died in a car accident when she was just 8. She ended up in an orphanage until she turned 18. She so badly wanted adopted parents that she always tried to empress them by her appearance and behaviour but with no luck. She started working at the Diner after she enrolled herself at the university and got herself a small room to rent. Melissa had no family and no one that cared about her. The day she turned 21 her colleagues at work felt that they needed to celebrate her birthday with her and made some plans to go to the local club. She’s never been in a club but was happy that they cared to do something for her. That same night she met George and fell in love with someone she never knew was a monster. They got married a couple of months later and she felt so good to know that someone loves her. The twins were born a year after they got married. She will never forget what George said to her that day when she came from hospital with the babies.

I never planned on having kids with anyone. Don’t expect of me to be the world’s best dad because I won’t. I got married to you because I was tired of having a different woman every night, I do love you but I’m not ready to be a father to two kids but should you ever try to leave I will take them away from you. All she felt was love for this man and he treated her like dirt. Then the beating started. There wasn’t a week that went by and he didn’t lay he’s hands on her. It was sometimes just a slap and she was grateful that he didn’t kick and punch her.

How could I ever allow this man to do these kind of things to me? She asks herself.

There was a knock on the door and that made her sit up straight in her bed. She was so scared that it might be him that she was ready to jump out of bed. The door finally opened and she was shocked to see who was standing in the doorway looking at her.
