Chapter 59: New Beta Roommate Looking For Trouble 1
Elena Pov
The room fell silent and everyone focused on me. Even after my question, no one spoke. Instead, the air became even more tense.
I frowned, impatience flashing in my eyes as I waited forever for someone to explain, but no one spoke.
I wasn’t in a good mood, but now, it felt even worse. I had hoped that I would sleep as soon as I got to the room, but now… problems just had to visit.
An irritated aura slowly spread from me. One I had always hidden, but now, it spread out.
Becca, who stood close to me, sucked in a cold breath and her face turned pale.
I looked at the stranger who still had an arrogant expression on, then at Becca, and finally at Rina again, then asked once more, but this time louder and colder.
“Can somebody tell me what the hell is going on?”
Immediately my question dropped, Becca’s face became awkward. She kept sneaking glances at me, then at the stranger in the room, then with a timid smile, she looked towards Rina like she was pleading for help.
What the hell is going on? Though I have always known Becca was timid in nature, which is why I had always tried to take care of her even as an omega myself, but now, she was beginning to get on my nerves.
I closed my eyes, breathed in heavily, then finally, when I opened my eyes, they were as calm as water. Then I turned to Becca, the corner of my lips curving.
“You. Tell me what happened.”
Becca was startled, but in a twinkle of an eye, she rushed towards me and grabbed my hand.
“Elena, you don’t need to worry about Lilith. She is just being difficult on purpose. Hmm…” she paused, her eyes looking around, then when they stopped on my body, her eyes lit up as she suddenly began to push me toward the bed.
“…You—you just took your bath, go wear your nightwear and don’t worry about her. Hmm… ahh… Elena, g-go dress up.”
Becca’s voice trembled as she spoke, her face pale, yet she still tried to downplay everything.
She continued to ramble on. My fingers twitched once. Then twice.
Finally, I couldn’t take it anymore, so I raised my hand, then—
“Stop!”
Just as if a switch in the room was turned off, everyone went silent. I could even see Rina, who had been sitting casually, stiffen. The eyes of everyone locked on me as they held their breath.
But I couldn’t care less about the situation in the room.
I looked at Becca, then raised an eyebrow. Surprise flashed in her eyes, then she turned awkward.
She let out a sigh, then finally spoke, her tiny voice breaking the stiff silence in the room.
“This is also my fault, Elena. I-if I had stopped Lilith from claiming your bed on the first day she arrived, this wouldn’t have happened.” She sniffed, then sneaked a glance at me, but I remained silent and just stared at her coldly.
She bit her lower lip, sneaked another glance at the new roommate whose name was Lilith, then began.
“Hmm… it all started from when Lilith arrived. She had chosen your bed at first sight, and though we told her you already took it, b-but, she refused to let it go. And… and…”
Becca swallowed, then lowered her head. But her voice sounded so aggrieved.
“We let her have it since we thought you wouldn’t be returning. But now that you’re back, I told her the owner of the bed was back and this caused this disagreement.”
After she finished explaining, Becca lowered her head even more. Though I didn’t know why she was feeling guilty. This wasn’t even her fault.
Finally, I let out a small breath, my eyes narrowing slightly.
So this was what happened?
Even without seeing the scene, I could already imagine what unfolded.
The anger inside me suddenly felt unnecessary.
My lips twitched. I moved my gaze from Becca to Rina, who sat on the chair still licking a lollipop.
She raised an eyebrow and gave me a shrug, but why did I read, “Hey, she is not my friend. You can do as you like.”
I shook my head at her, then finally turned my head to settle on the main character—Lilith.
She stood there, arms folded against her chest, her lips curled in a smug smile, and her eyes looked down at me with so much arrogance.
I looked at her from her short shoulder-length hair down to her feet that still wore heels, then back to her face. Our eyes met in the air and I could read the challenge in those eyes;
“So, what if I took over your bed? What can you do?”
Hmm… a Beta?
Now I know why she was arrogant and even spoke to Becca that way.
But was I someone who would be intimidated by a Beta’s aura?
I chuckled silently.
To be honest, I really don’t wish to fight with anyone. Besides, we were roommates and would be staying together for the next three years. So, it’s better to ignore the arrogant girl.
With this, I calmed down. With a tired expression, I gave a small smile to Becca, then Rina, then without looking at Lilith, who seemed to be looking for a fight, I walked towards the bed where my bag was, then poured out my clothes and other accessories and products, and to the shock of them all, I began to arrange my things carefully in my own wardrobe.
The room fell silent. I could feel their eyes on me, but I didn’t look back.
Even Lilith paused and just stared.
After arranging my clothes, I began to arrange my skin care products on the bedside table.
The only sound that could be heard in the room was the sound of bottles hitting the table lightly. Then next were my shoes and books.
Finally, when I was done, I looked at the job I had done, then smiled in satisfaction.
The room was still silent. Their eyes were still on me and even without looking at them, I could imagine their confused faces, but not once did I turn to them.
I know they had expected me to cry out, flip out, or even fight. But… who the hell has time for that?! I’d rather sleep and think about a solution to my love life.
Hmmph!
Atleast, this problem was simpler than Marcus.
Done with everything, I finally picked out a yellow nightgown to put on, but just then—
“Lilith, what are you doing?!”
A loud voice echoed through the room, breaking the silence.
Shocked, I looked at my empty hands in a daze, then slowly, I raised my head and looked at Lilith, who glared at me, then finally, I looked at my nightgown which was thrown onto the bed on the other side.
The temperature in the room dropped. Even the sound of breathing couldn’t be heard.
Just then, Becca whispered, “Hmm… E-Elena…?”
I heard her, but I didn’t answer her. My heart was calm. So calm that it scared even me.
But—
I sighed and shifted my attention to Lilith. I frowned, my lips pursed tightly.
“Roommate, what do you mean by this?”
I could see the shock that appeared on Lilith’s face. I knew she didn’t expect how calm I still was.
Her eyes flashed with confusion, but soon, it returned to arrogance. She raised her chin, then pointed it at me.
“You!”
She then pointed her chin towards the bed she threw my clothes on and said with disdain,
“…Go sleep on that bed.”
Then she pointed at my own bed.
“From now on, this one belongs to me!”
Finally, I looked up properly.
