Chapter 7: Seven
Xavier
“I don’t like the way you move around her,” Cassie whined .
She had hopped in the car and forced me to drop her off at her house which was two streets before mine. She always liked to do this, regardless of if her driver already came to pick her.
“Babe, you know I will never diss you for other girls, let alone that one,” I rolled my eyes.
“But I saw you were when you stood up for her in class today, you aren’t like that,” she snickered.
“I did?” I questioned.
“Arggh,” she rolled her eyes so dramatically that I feared that her eyeballs might roll out of her socket.
She went quiet for a while typing away so seriously on her phone, I know she must be doing something so deadly. Typical Cassie!
“Done,” she snapped her finger,“She is going to see why she shouldn’t mess up with me,” she let out an evil laugh.
“Cassie, what have you done?”
“Not too much, I just want to show her a bit of myself,” she chuckled.
I dragged her phone from her hand, luckily for me the screen hasn’t locked yet , I know her password anyways.
I read the message she has sent to Kimberly: “Meet me at the principal’s office tomorrow by 8am”
I shifted my gaze to look at her,“Cassie what are you trying to do?hope you’re not trying to get anyone into trouble?”
I know Cassie too well, once she thinks someone crossed her line, she is going to do anything to see the last of that person.
She smiled and it faltered into a mischievous one,“Oh well let’s see,” she shrugged.
“Okay now driver, i have gotten to my destination,” she said and gave me a quick peck on the cheek,“See you in school tomorrow.”
I really have to stop her from doing anything funny tomorrow.
The principal is Cassie’s Aunt and this is not the first time Cassie has done something ugly before and got away with it, destroying another person’s life.
I have to do something, else I will be guilty.
“Young Master we are home,” the driver said and then I jerked up immediately.
“How long has it been since we arrived?” I questioned.
“Just a few minutes.”
“Gosh!” I shoved my hands in my hair, down to my face. Why have I been thinking too deeply about this girl?
I opened the door just to find her shoes on the door mat. I chuckled.
We don’t leave our shoes here. I picked up the shoes.
I walked further into the house. I heard her humming a song and the clattering of plates. She was probably doing the dishes.
I walked up to the kitchen, she was still humming, didn’t even realize I was standing there.
I tapped the kitchen table,“Hey, hey.”
She was startled.
“That’s how someone can break in and kidnap you, you better learn how to be security conscious,” I yelled.
She gasped, her eyes darting to the corners of the house.
“Did someone break in?”she questioned, panic rising in her voice.
I exhaled.
“Dumb- dumb,” I muttered.
She snickered.
“And you better learn how to keep your things properly, we don’t harbour dirty people here,” I said, raising her shoes up for her to see and then dropping it on the floor.
“I don’t know that rich people don’t keep their shoes in their doormat,” she said calmly.
“Rich people,” I chuckled, but turning my face the other way so she won’t see it.
I went upstairs to shower and came back to the kitchen to get dinner.
No one was at home yet, it was just the two of us.
“This house is just like a museum, like it’s so big.”
I saw her talking excitedly to someone on the phone. And I quickly stop at my track to eavesdrop on the conversation.
“Yeah , school is fine, but it’s just … I don’t know, it just wasn’t what I had expected,” she heaved a deep sigh, dropping the spatula on the kitchen table.
“School isn’t like school anymore without you, It doesn’t feel complete at all, I mean I’m happy I got the scholarship, yeah the school is big, big pool,” she chuckled,“ I’m going to learn how to swim, " she smiled.
I know how to swim, maybe I could teach her, I smiled to myself.
But who is she even talking to, does she have a boyfriend?
I sniffled, something was burning.
I quickly rushed to the kitchen.
“ What the hell!” I said, quickly turning off the gas.
She flinched back and quickly dropped her phone on the counter.
“Do you want to burn the whole house,” I coughed.
Smoke flaring up in the kitchen.
“ I’m so sorry,” she begged, her eyes starting to well up with tears.
“ You should be careful next time,” I said, while silently wishing no one will walk in on us right now because it’s just going to end up be a whole different story.
“I’m going to make another porridge right now,” she pleaded as she made way to get something from the cabinet.
She stretched her hand up to get a bowl, she kept stretching and a part of her gown was lifted up so that it slightly exposed her thighs.
Damn! This is ruining my mind .
“ It doesn’t take anything to ask for help you know,” I scoffed, making my way to get the bowl.
My fingers brushed hers slightly. I felt some kind of spark . I shifted my gaze and our eyes locked in for a moment.
She quickly turn her face away.
Then she turned back,“oh just give me the bowl , I can do the rest now.”
“At least learn how to say thank you,” I said.
She went quiet, then her face falter into a sneer.
“Thank you.”
She started breaking eggs into a bowl and I watched her closely.
“ Kimberly,” I called softly.
She turned to look at me, those eyes staring at me softly making my skin heat up at every flutter of her lashes.
I swallowed,“There’s something I want to tell you, do not …” before I could finish, the door opened revealing no other person but my mum.
My eyes widened and for some reason dread settled in my gut.
