Chapter 36: Thirty-Six

Xavier

I scraped my hand through my hair. Blinking rapidly. The words died in my throat. Why was I finding it difficult to talk to her?

It has never been this hard  talking or approaching other girls, but trying to talk to her just felt different. And the way she was staring at me right now, that dove-eyes felt like it was staring into my soul.

I cleared my throat.

My brain was trying to form the words, but my mouth wasn’t comprehending.

“I need to stop pretending on my feelings for you,” I finally found myself saying.

She jerked her head back, an incredulous stare on her face.

Her lips fell open, it was as if she wanted to say something, but couldn’t.

“You have a girlfriend,” she said simply.

Oh not again. Why does she have to keep reminding me

She continued, her brows furrowed,“If the both of you are falling out…are you trying to use me for your convenience or a push over?”

“No.. no,” I squinted my eyes, shaking my head.

“If you are having a conflict in your relationship, then you should fix it instead of looking for  someone you could use for your convenience.”

My posture stiffened and my muscles were rigid.

I rubbed the back of my neck.

“It’s not … it’s not like that.”

I couldn’t even find the right words to use.

I ran my hands through my hair.

“If I wasn’t done with her I wouldn’t be here,” I said simply.

Would that be a lie? Because I haven’t had the courage to tell Cassie that I was done with her. I don’t even know how she is going to react to that, what if she refused to let go?

“Oh please,”She rolled her eyes.

I swallowed, how am I going to tell her it’s her I want now, and I don’t care if Cassie is still in the picture.

“Uh…”

Before I could say something,Andre came from the corner. Staring at me intently.

We both turned to look at him, our expression stunned.

It was as though he had been standing there for a while.

Wait…was he eavesdropping on our conversation?

“You’re taking so long,” he said simply, looking at Kimberly, but I knew better that the statement was for me.

I tightened my fist, my jaw tightened, he shouldn’t be here. He is doing too much now.

“Andre,” Kimberly muttered, twitching her eyes as if telling him to step away, but it seemed he wasn’t getting the information, or he was just pretending not to.

He started moving closer. My gaze was fixed on him.

What is he trying to do?

“Your voices were becoming too high,” he said simply.

How? I clenched my jaw.

If he wanted attention so much he would have just gone to the hallway and done something stupid, he would  get everyone’s attention without even begging or trying so hard.

He continued,“That’s why I came here,” his gaze shifted to me.“ I didn’t trust you, who knows,” he shrugged,“you might just be bullying her and no one will even know, that’s typical you ”

My lips pursed together and then it flattened, all that just to get on my nerves?

I wouldn’t let it get to me, I know what he is trying to do, but I’m not going to let that happen, I’m not going to give him what he wanted. Not today.

Our voice wasn’t even that high. He is just being such a pussy right now.

“You should be done now. aren’t you?” He arched his brow.

I narrowed my eyes, my face tightened. He is just so annoying right now.

“I wasn’t talking to you, I am having a conversation with her,” I said simply.

“We were together when you came, but we just have to spare you a little of our time and now you’re over using it, because it seems you have nothing to do.”

“Yeah I get, no practice,” he added.

He snapped his fingers like he just remembered something “Oh nothing to even practice for, That’s why you think we are jobless like you.”

I already knew where this was heading to and I wouldn’t let him bruise my ego this time.

“You should go sit at a corner and think about your miserable, boring and lonely life,” I spat out, my gaze flinty.

“At least I’m not being controlled like a puppet,” he said.

I tightened my fist.

“Okay, that’s enough,” Kimberly said simply.

“I don’t need anymore chaos.”

She walked away.

It was Andre and I left staring at each other, our chest rising and falling, fist tightened and our eyes hard, cold and flinty like we were about to wrestle.

“If you bully her I won’t let it slide,” he blurted and walked away.

I don’t want him near her either. Why is he even acting up? Something clicked in my mind.

Does he have feelings for her too? If he does then one of us has to back down and it won’t be me.

I started walking away from there, going to grab lunch and Cassie bumped in front of me from nowhere.

Her chin raised up and her arms folded across her chest, her chest was thrust out and she was glaring at me .

“Did you really tell someone you want to break up with me?”

My brows squished together. Where did she even get that from?
