Chapter 13
We won!
Eight to Seven.
As soon as Bellisa scored the winning point everyone jumped out of their seats and began to scream with excitement.
The volleyball girls immediately surrounded her for a group hug.
I tried to look for her only to come up empty handed.
"Hey, you might find her when everyone leaves" Avery says as she places a hand on my shoulder I nod my head and make my way towards the locker room so that I can change out of my uniform.
I end up changing into a black Nike sports bra that's covered by a grey and white Nike windbreaker. I paired that with a pair of Nike leggings and Nike running shoes.
I decide to remove my bow when I get home since it'll be easier.
As I'm packing my backpack with my clothes the cheerleaders walk into the locker room along with the volleyball players.
Avery comes up to me with a bright smile.
"Someone is waiting for you behind the school," She hints as she hands me a tube of Chapstick "It might come in handy" she says with a wink My eyes widen in shock as my cheeks start to warm up.
"How did you find out?" I ask "Please, you guys made it so obvious during practice with the looks you were giving each other" She says quietly I look down at my feet with a guilty expression.
"Go, your girl is waiting for you" she says as she gently pushes me towards the door I nod my head as I go onward to find Bellisa.
-
I carefully walk through the crowds of people so that I can make my way towards the back of my school.
As I round the corner, I spot a hidden figure with blonde hair standing in the middle of the football field.
I smile as I make my way towards her.
As I get closer to her, I notice that she also changed her outfit.
She's wearing a dark red oversized Nike sweatshirt along and Nike leggings. She paired that with a pair of white high-top converse and a black Nike sweatband.
"You did great out there" I say as I stop behind her She immediately turns around at the sound of my voice. As soon as her eyes meet mine, she gives me a wide smile.
"I couldn't have done it without you" she says as she snakes her arms around my waist I smile up at her as I wrap mine around her neck.
"What did I do?" I ask her with a confused tone of voice All I did was stand on the sidelines and cheer them on.
"Your kind of like my good luck charm" she says with shrug as if she doesn't know how to word it I laugh at her explanation as my cheeks warm up.
She's so cute.
"Let's go back to my place and watch movies" I suggest as I start to slowly lead her towards the car parking lot Hopefully it isn't full of paparazzi.
I don't think I could handle that chaos again.
"I can't stay too long; I have a meeting in the morning" she says with a stressed tone Ugh.
I groan out in frustration which causes her to laugh as we stop at the sidewalk beside the school.
"Relax, when I'm done, I'll be all yours for the rest of the day" she says and wraps her free arm around my hip I reach my hand up and gently place it on her cheek.
"You better be" I say with a teasing tone She smiles at me before gently placing a peck upon my lips.
"I'll meet you at your house" she says as she pulls away I silently nod my head in response.
I don't think I'll ever get tired of her kisses.
She gives me another peck before walking around the school where I immediately see the flashing lights of the paparazzi.
Of course, they're out there.
I decide to walk towards the other side of the school to be on the safer side.
As I make my way towards the front of the school, I spot Avery talking to Megan.
Actually, I think they're arguing.
Megan looks in my direction with a relieved facial expression.
"Babe" She says excitedly as she quickly makes her way towards me I facepalm my head so hard that I accidentally give myself a headache.
She comes in to hug me but I quickly dodge her to stay on the safe side.
There's been multiple times where she kissed me instead of hugging me.
I definitely don't want that to happen, especially since I have an amazing girlfriend.
I just don't want any misunderstandings.
She gives me a look of shock and slight anger.
"Go home, Megan" I say to her in a calm voice I really hope she doesn't take this the wrong way.
Her eyes widen as her whole body becomes ridged. She starts to ball her fists, as if she wants to punch something.
"You know, we used to be close" Megan starts to say after a long silence which causes Avery's breath to hitch "I swear to god, Megan" Avery says with a warning tone What is happening?!
This is so weird.
"You and I actually used to be best friends" Megan continues, completely ignoring Avery "Shut up, Megan" Avery says as she grabs my wrist She goes to pull me away but I quickly shake my wrist out of her grip.
I need to know what Megan is talking about.
"What do you mean? We're still friends" I say "Aspen, let’s go, it's not safe" Avery says with an urgent tone I ignore her as Megan starts to slowly make her way towards me.
"I was actually there when you got injured" she says She was?!
"Aspen, we need to go now" Avery says Megan looks behind me with a disgusted facial expression.
"Do you want to tell her why you weren't there when she got injured, why you weren't answering your phone?" Megan questions almost sinisterly Okay, now I'm getting a little worried.
"You're the cause of it, you were the cause of everything that happened that day" Avery says as she glares at Megan "That's not the way I remember it" Megan says with a mischievous smirk "Because you're mental, you need help" Avery states That's a little rude to say about someone.
Megan glares at her and seemingly wants to lunge at her but chooses not to as her eyes land on mine.
"I hope you find out the truth soon" Megan says emotionlessly and turns around to walk away from us What the hell.
That was not Megan.
It's like they were a whole different person but took on the appearance of Megan.
"Come on, let’s go" Avery says as she grabs my wrist and leads us towards her car.
-
We have a couple of minutes until we reach my house but I can't help but think about what Megan was saying.
She seemed off but she seemed serious at the same time.
"What was Megan talking about?" I ask Avery I need to know the truth.
If that day was as important as Megan made it out to be then I have a right to know about it.
Avery's breath hitches which are a dead giveaway.
"What are you talking about?" She questions me back I roll my eyes at her questions.
Does she really think I'm that stupid?
"Avery, I know that something serious happened that day," I start off "What I do not know is whether it was solved of not" I state "What do you mean?" She questions again "I've done my research, when a person has amnesia the people around them are supposed to familiarize them with the environment," I begin "There's a fifty percent chance that I'll be okay if you were to tell me about that day but you guys chose to keep it from me" I continue "Aspen, what are you getting at?" Avery asks with a slightly shake to her voice "Considering the fact that my mom, my friends and my doctor haven't told me how I got injured I could sue you guys for withholding information" I say nonchalantly with a shrug Okay, so maybe that isn't entirely true.
What?
When I want something, I make sure that I get it.
"Aspen, I can't tell you" she says "Yes, you can, you were there, weren't you?" I question She presses her lips together as she pulls into my driveway.
"You weren't there?" I question her She shakes her head which causes me to begin to nibble on my bottom lip.
"So, Megan was right" I mutter as I get out of her car and make my way towards my front door I open my front door and place my bags down near the door as I close the door behind me.
I blow out a breath of frustration as I make my way towards the kitchen only to stop when I notice Bellisa and my mom laughing over something.
"Oh, hey sweetheart" my mom says as she calms down from her laughter Bellisa looks over to me with a smile but it instantly turns into a frown when she notices my sour mood.
I guess I'm horrible at hiding my emotions.
She gets up from her chair and walks towards me.
"What's wrong?" She whispers with a genuine tone so my mom won't hear us I don't respond as I just reach my arms up to wrap around her neck and place my head on her chest.
"I don't want to talk about it" I mumble out I just want to be in her arms right now, I'll worry about this drama tomorrow.
I feel her kiss the top of my head before I'm suddenly being lifted up.
I quickly wrap my legs around her hips so that I don't fall as she starts to make her way towards the stairs.
Surprisingly she expertly makes her way up the stairs and into my room.
She drops us on my bed so that she's on the bottom and I'm straddling her.
I sit up so that I can look down at her.
"Can I kiss you?" I as her lowly I don't want to seem rude by just going in for a kiss.
She may not like that and I don't want to upset her.
She nods her head, silently approving of my request.
I lean in until our lips are touching.
I hum in appreciation as I slightly tilt my head to the side so that I can get a better angle.
She pulls away from my lips only to reconnect them with just as much softness.
I have no idea how she feels right now.
But I feel like a volcano.
My body is all tingly from my hands to my toes.
My head is spinning from the slight lack of oxygen in my lungs.
My heart is beating uncontrollably fast.
My hands are starting to sweat from my elevated body temperature.
Oh god.
There's that feeling again.
I pull away from her lips reluctantly.
There's a fire burning in my lower belly and I don't have time to deal with it.
She looks up at me with a worried facial expression.
"It's not you, it's my body" I say awkwardly as I climb off of her She tries not to laugh as she nods her head at my horrible explanation.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" I ask her so that we don't sit here in silence "Yeah, sure" she says with a smile as she sits up on my bed Great!
A distraction from my teenage hormones.
