Chapter 15
Mason:
"Yeah, we're probably going to go back tomorrow. We've already been gone longer than I would have liked," I throw my head back annoyed at the fact that I had to head back to reality.
Being here with Alexandra was honestly the best thing that could have happened. Even though this came to be for a terrible reason, it ended better than I hoped.
"Is Alexandra coming with us?" Blaine asked me and I didn't have an answer for him. Of course, I wanted to say yes. However, I didn't ask her. "I don't know yet. I'll ask her when she wakes up."
I know she hates to wake up alone now after yesterday so I need to hurry this up with Blaine so I could get back to the room. "Need anything else?"
"Nope. Just let me know if she's coming and I'll get the tickets. I'm going to go to town with Teddy today so you will just have to survive without me. But don't cry. I will be back for you." Blaine held his hand out in an overly exaggerated way. Sometimes I wonder why I chose him as a Beta.
"Yup goodbye," I yell over my shoulder as I walk away from him.
"Wow. Such a cruel Alpha." I hear Blaine fake whine as I continue down the hall.
Making it to my door I slowly open it hoping that Alexandra isn't awake yet. When I fully got in, I saw that I was in luck. She's still in bed with her eyes closed. There is one less thing to argue about. It's weird to see her sleeping so peacefully at this time. Normally she is up to training by now.
I can't stop looking at her. Her mouth is partly open and you can faintly hear her breathing through her mouth instead of her nose. Thankfully she doesn't snore. Her short hair partially covers her face. Probably because she sleeps like a crazy person. I chuckle to myself thinking about it.
"What's so funny?" She asks me groggily as she rolls over. Her hair still completely on her face.
I laugh even more as she starts to slowly rub her eyes and adjust to the light. "Has anyone ever told you that you kick in your sleep?"
I didn't get time to laugh again before a pillow hit me in the face. "How's that then?"
Oh...so she wanted a pillow fight. Well, she is going to find that she picked the wrong opponent for this battle. I slowly stand up to my feet and lean down to grab the pillow that she threw at me.
"Mason. Don't you dare?" She's on her knees ready to pounce at any moment.
"Don't do what?" I ask menacingly. "You mean," I pause just to swing and hit her in her left shoulder. "This?"
I see as her eyes form into slits and I start to wonder if maybe I'm the one who made a mistake. Alexandra grabbed another pillow before the war fully took place.
After a while, she held her arms up with her pillow hanging down. "Alright...let's call a truce."
A truce. Talk about the easy way out. Sadly though there were things that we had to do today and pillow fighting actually wasn't on the list. "Fine Angel. Just know I won't take it easily next time."
She scoffs as she gets up and walks towards the bathroom. I watch her and wonder when exactly she put her clothes back on from last night. Instead of asking I remember I needed her answer.
"Angel," I call out to her. She gives me a low grumble in reply as I hear the shower start.
I walk into the bathroom to make sure that she can hear me. She's pulling her shirt over her head and I just watch her. She wasn't wearing a bra so I can clearly see her bareback and every curve. I can only watch in wonder.
"I thought you wanted something?" She asks ruining my daydream. "Yeah. Are you coming back with us tomorrow?"
She turns back to look at me with her back still facing me. She puts an arm in the shower to test the water. "I mean where else would I go?"
"You could always stay." I shoot back at her. "We are fully mated. So I have to go back and whip your boys into shape, as their Luna of course."
She flashed a huge smile at me before she went into the shower. I will never tell Cassie she was right, but she was right. Alexandra is exactly what I needed and I feel stupid for wasting all this time.
"You coming in?" She asks and sadly I had to decline her.
"Sorry Angel. I need to meet up with V and get things in order before we leave. Better to have that man as an ally than an enemy." She nodded in agreement. "Yup have fun."
It didn't sound like she wanted me to have fun at all. I leave the room and sigh as I walk down the stairs. Although V likes me a lot more now it's still nerve-wracking talking to that male.
Swallowing the regret that I feel coming over me I make my way back to V's study. Standing at the door I reach out and knock. "Come in," his deep voice demands on the other side.
Opening the door I saw that Brett and V were both sitting at their desks. "Oh Mason, good we need to figure out a game plan since we will both be in the same predicament soon."
I had no idea what predicament he was talking about. Yes, we were both Alphas but we were on two completely different levels. I also haven't heard about him being challenged for his position. Only a psychopath with a death wish would do that.
Brett just smirked with a small chuckle. "These are the moments I don't envy you guys."
"Shut it," V said harshly. "We will wait until my first in the blood pack arrives before we get down to it."
I just nodded to show him that I was okay with that. Then I figured I should let him know of our plans since I was here.
"Oh V by the way, we are going back tomorrow and Alexandra is coming with me—"
"Of course she is," he cut me off. "I just hope you don't think I will give you Teddy so suddenly."
I didn't know that Teddy had talked to him about it already. He seemed so nervous I thought it would take a while. "So he told you?"
"No." I looked at V confused. If he didn't how did he know? "Your Beta is a security risk if that was meant to be a secret."
Of course, Blaine couldn't keep his mouth closed. But he was excited since he didn't think he would even have a mate, so I guess I won't hold it against him. "He wasn't included in our plans because he has yet to tell you and his father."
"Dr. Billings will be a whole other issue." V stopped when he heard another knock. "In."
It must be one of his men since he used even less vocabulary. I don't think V likes to talk. I walked in one of his bigger men. "Ugh, Alpha."
"What is it?" The warrior didn't get a chance to answer before Cassie popped up from behind him. "Why do you need Boss?"
"Don't worry about it. Go with Alexandra before she leaves tomorrow." Cassie groaned and seemed to be torn. "She leaves tomorrow. Dang, it. Fine, I'm coming back later and I want to know!" She yelled the last part as she ran back down the hall.
"Close the door," V ordered and his warrior did as he was told.
He walked closer into the room and I wondered why Cassie called him Boss. It's better than just calling him his warrior so maybe I should remember that.
"I asked you guys here because we are waiting for Cassie to go through her heat. Since she is late it can come at any time without warning. You now have a similar problem since you mated Alexandra. She will go through her heat. Hopefully when she's supposed to."
"This all makes sense but what does it have to do with me," I ask genuinely confused why they had anything to do with us.
"You don't think much, do you?" Brett glared at me and I felt a little annoyed. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means you're a baby Alpha who doesn't think like a big boy."
"Brett, stop." V stopped us before the argument could get worse. "I have a problem with Aiden. You have a problem with Austin. For that week that our mates are in heat, we are useless and vulnerable to attacks. Normally it would be a bigger problem for me just because of the sheer size of my land but since you are being challenged for your spot it's an even bigger problem."
I hate to admit it but Brett was right. I wasn't thinking. I wasn't thinking about how this was going to affect the pack or even Alexandra. I have enemies who are always watching and I let a few days of leisure go to my head.
"So I wanted to talk about us possibly helping each other through this. I obviously wouldn't ask an alpha to leave his pack but I would need Avery back and I would feel better if Alexandra was here as well. Her brother is already going to come as well. In return, I would give you two of my blood pack members for when Alexandra goes through her heat as well."
"So would Boss becoming?" I ask.
"Absolutely not. He has to stay with Cassie no matter what." I was a little confused but didn't press the issue.
Boss gave a quick nod before looking at me. "I'm sure Ghost and Smiley are the two that Alpha is referring to. Alexandra knows them and their skill level so I'm sure you can ask if you're worried."
I wasn't worried in the least bit. I'm just confused with the way that they do things in this packhouse. They don't seem to run the same way as any of our neighboring packs or ourselves.
"There is another option if you would like to use it." I looked up at V. I didn't think there would be anything else but I can't say I'm surprised either. "And what is that?"
"Dr. Billings has developed a method to tranquilize our kind and you could keep her under for the duration of her heat."
It sounded like something that couldn't be done but if V is backing it that means it's true. "Why don't you use that option?" I ask genuinely intrigued since it's an option.
"I did that to her once. I won't do it again." V's jaw was tense and he refused to look at me. I guess it's a sensitive subject.
It seems like V regrets it so I can't run the risk with Alexandra. "Your plan works just fine for me."
He nods and Brett walks over and hands me a phone. I look at it confused before looking back at Brett. "I already have a phone."
"Yes, but this has contacts for everyone we mentioned so you can send out a message to everyone who needs it and the plan can be set in motion quicker. We don't have time to waste with this."
I just nodded in agreement. Whether it was Cassie or Alexandra it seems that I am deemed to have a crazy mate.
