Chapter 7: I’m in heaven

Nevaeh:

Rushing from the hallways to my car, I feel a sense of urgent excitement. I try not to think that my excitement stems from the fact that Mikhail’s coming to my house after school. Today is Wednesday, the only day of the week when I have nothing to do. Most of the time, I’m attending student council, music, dance, or cheer. That’s one of the reasons that I don’t work. With my hectic schedule, it’s hard to work a part-time job.

As soon as I get home, I lay my bags down on the kitchen counter and head to the fridge. It’s empty. It looks like it’s going to be pizza again. I order an extra-large sausage with pepperoncini and pineapple. Mmmmm, I love pizza. I ordered it extra-large in case Mikhail is hungry.

Heading to my room, I throw off my clothes. I can see a pile collecting in the corner, so I make a mental note to myself; Go food shopping and do laundry. For a couple of minutes, I look through my closet, trying to find something that is sexy, that says that I threw it on. I don’t want Mikhail to think I’m trying to impress him, even though I want him to like me. Thankfully, I spot a breezy off-the-shoulder white summer dress that I bought last summer. Perfect. This is one of my favorite dresses. It has a tie string in the front, with an open back, and it falls to my knees. Feeling naughty, I take off my bra and put the dress on. I have some nice boobs. They’re not too big or too small. I’m a perfect size C. Fluffing my hair, I add some eyeliner around my eyes to make them look exotic and decide to go without shoes. Finally, I tie a chain around my ankle. I feel sexy and innocent at the same time.

The doorbell rings a moment later, rousing me from my musings. I know I look great when the Pizza guy gawks at me and drops the change twice. Taking the box, I give him my sexiest smile and hand him his money. “Keep the change,” I whisper seductively before I slam the door on his face. That was fun.

A half-hour later, the doorbell rings again. My heart speeds up as I straighten my dress and walk towards the door. My palms are clammy, and my body feels electrified. Taking a couple of deep breaths, I open the door and come face to face with Mikhail. He looks like such a bad boy with his black Henley and dark jeans. I have to bite my lip to stop myself from groaning out loud. He’s just so masculine, and it calls to every cell in my body.

Get it together, girl. I whisper to myself as I open the door wider and let him in. His eyes travel over my body caressingly as he makes his way in.

“Hey, come in,” I mumble breathlessly.

Looking very serious, Mikhail walks across the hallway and looks around. “Nice house.” He mutters.

I give him a half-hearted smile, which I’m sure comes off as a grimace, and he stands beside him. As he runs his gaze across the room, I can’t help but look at him. He’s so tall and masculine that he takes my breath away.

Before he notices that I’m staring at him like a creeper, I refocus my eyes somewhere else. The house is gorgeous, with its gleaming floors and tasteful decor. Too bad that all I feel is bitter emptiness when I look at it. It’s a beautiful prison, but a prison nonetheless.

The house has high ceilings with large windows, and the foyer has a winding stairway that leads to the bathroom. I run my gaze appraisingly across the living room with its large flat-screen television and white couches with yellow, blue, and red pillows. The floor has a blue velour rug and rustic looking end tables.

I nonchalantly walk ahead, feigning that I’m unaffected by his closeness and gesture for him to take a seat. “We can study here.”

My heart nearly stops as Mikhail gracefully slumps back on the couch and stretches his arms over the backrests. His beautiful muscled arms and chest are straining against his shirt. Drool collects in my mouth, and my body instantly ignites. He’s just so damn gorgeous.

Tucking my hair behind my ear, I wave to the open concept kitchen. “I ordered some pizza if you want some.”

Mikhail shakes his head. “No, I’m good, thanks.”

Shrugging, I sit next to him and fold my feet beneath my thighs. “Well, if you want anything, let me know.”

Seeing no other reason to waste time, I reach for the project folder on the coffee table. I shiver when the strap of my dress slides down my velvety shoulder, and I’m sure he can see my bareback. I almost smile when Mikhail groans. I can feel his gaze on my skin like a caress, which is a heady experience to know that I’m tempting him. I’ve never wanted to make a guy want me as much as I do Mikhail at this moment.

Turning back, I place the folder over my lap and try to keep an even expression, even though my body is quaking with desire. I don’t want him to see how much he affects me.

Mikhail moves closer as I open the folder and begin removing papers. I can feel his breath near my neck and the heat of his chest on my back. I close my eyes, trying to concentrate on the task at hand, but it’s difficult. My hands tremble slightly as I try to nonchalantly peruse through the papers. Swallowing hard, I take a couple of deep breaths and try to steady my heartbeat, but my body refuses to listen.

Unaware of my tumultuous feelings, Mikhail moves close and reaches for a paper. However, before he can, I clumsily drop the papers on the floor.

My face reddens as I stutter out. “Oh, …sorry.” I’m such an idiot. Not noticing that Mikhail is bending to collect the papers, I lean down to pick them up too, and somehow, we both end up holding a tangled mess of papers.

“Oh…um…hold on,” I say, trying to straighten out the papers in our hands, but we end up becoming ensnared more. I’m practically sitting on his lap, and our hands are entwined. Looking up, our eyes connect. I lick my dry lips, trying to say something, but no words come out.

Then it happens. Our lips meet, and we’re hungrily kissing. Nothing matters right now. We don’t care that the papers are now scattered across the floor. All we want is to get closer. Groaning, Mikhail wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me close to his firm body. I slide my hands up his muscular chest and wrap my arms around his neck. It’s the most delicious kiss I’ve ever had. The way he savors my tongue and sucks my bottom lip is decadent. Moaning with pleasure, I grind my center against his hard thigs and curl my tongue around his. Mikhail growls at the gesture and deepens the kiss.

I run my hands through his hair and move closer, feeling my body melt against his. Mikhail’s calloused fingers slide down my bare back as he pulls me closer and rubs my chest against his hard one. My nipples stiffen into rigid points with every shift of his body beneath mine. Moaning with pleasure, I caress my hands across his toned neck and shoulders as I swirl my tongue and nip at his plump lips. I’ve never felt this way before. I almost feel consumed by his heat.

A mewl escapes my lips as his hands make their way down my waist and to my thighs. His agile fingers glide across the hem of my skirt and gently slide the material over my thighs, revealing velvety skin with every inch. Somehow, we both end up lying horizontally on the couch, our bodies entwined. Mikhail is nearly a foot taller than me, yet we somehow manage to fit comfortably. I slide my hands around his muscled back, wanting to feel him as he grinds his groin against my center. At this point, our bodies are straining desperately against each other. His lips travel down my neck with pleasurable bites that make my eyes cross. It feels so good. All I want is to feel his skin against mine. I’m inching his shirt up to touch the skin when suddenly the doorbell rings. As if waking from a dream, Mikhail flinches back and releases me. I watched, dazed, as he rises from the sofa. His hair is in disarray from my fingers running through it, and his lips are swollen.

Body shaking, I lick my lips and face him. We both look wrecked, standing there with our chests heaving and our eyes glazed with desire. I want to say something, but I don’t know what. I can tell that Mikhail is probably having the same problem because he opens and closes his mouth several times.

Fortunately, the doorbell rings again and snaps us out of our daze. Not knowing what else to do, I straighten my dress and make my way to the door.

Rowan quirks a brow as soon as he sees me. I squirm in place as he scrutinizes my appearance. I’m sure that Rowan can tell that Mikhail and I have been doing something other than studying. Thankfully, he doesn’t comment on it. “Hey Nevaeh, is Mikhail here?”

I nod my head and point to the living room. “Yeah,” I manage to croak out.

Rowan nods gravel and steps inside. Unlike me, Mikhail looks calm and collected, sitting on the couch. “Hey man, Alex needs you home; we have…visitors.”

Brow furrowed, Mikhail rises from the couch. By the look both boys exchange, I can tell that they’re not happy. Without a word, Mikhail grabs his bag and walks out the door.

I have never felt so used and forgotten in my life. But of course, that’s how my night would go. My lip trembles and my vision blurs as sadness threatens to overwhelm me. Mikhail didn’t even look back. I feel like such a fool. But I can’t blame anyone but myself. Just once, I wish I wasn’t someone’s afterthought. How pathetic is that?
