Chap.109*Hiding In The Room*
The anger in his eyes had me scared. I don't know what he was going to do now, but I was scared of him.
I shouldn't have invited them over, I should have known they were too clever to fall for my game.
"You!" he bitterly spoke and then rushed my way very aggressively.
“Desmond, I didn’t want to do it but they were go---ing to drug me,” I shouted when he grasped my arm to pull me along but then he halted in the mid-way, we were still inside my room.
“Ay--,” he wanted to speak but he looked terrified, he was holding back his anger towards me, “You lied to me.” He uttered and let go of me. Hearing him so upset crumbled my heart. He shouldn’t doubt me, he was the only one who I could trust, the only one who could save me.
“No! please don’t say that.” I held his arm and tried to hug him but he slowly pulled himself away from me.
“Desmond! Just go and talk to them. Please let them not say a word to the cops.” As I murmured, he turned around to me to stare at me in confusion and shock.
“And that’s it? Ayleen, it is not that easy. What you did could never be mended,” he almost broke down but then got a grip over himself and composed his posture.
“Then send me back,” my lips quivered and I lowered my head in guilt. If he didn’t believe me, then it was better that I go back to the place where I deserve to be. He wasn’t happy with me, he wasn’t even supporting me anymore, which meant my life story was over.
There was nothing left for me in the world. My own son called that witch his mom, no one could imagine the pain I was in.
“What did you say?” he finally twirled around to watch me but I didn’t lift my face to look him in the eye.
“Listen!” when I didn’t say anything, he continued to speak, “just don’t worry. Go to bed while I will go downstairs and talk to---talk to all of them.” His eyes had tears in them, of course, he was crying because I lied to him. I went behind his back, God knows thinking what and now he had to deal with the mess like always.
“What if they won’t listen to you?” I inquired again out of curiosity and nervousness. I didn’t even see how much damage I had caused back there.
“They will,” Desmond responded very dryly.
“You just rest,” he added with a very serious face.
There was something very wrong about his attitude, he looked like had seen what I did to Ava. I wondered what kind of lies they have told him about me.
“Desmond!” I mumbled again when I found him completely lost.
“Desmond?” I repeated myself with fear and panic hitting me altogether.
“Hm?” he shook his head and then stared at me.
“Did they say something to you?” I inquired in fear of what I was about to hear.
“They?” he was lost in his own thoughts, “They are sad,” he had his eyes stuck at the empty wall of the room.
“Sad? Are they angry too?” I questioned and Desmond turned his face to me with no emotions.
“They are,” he replied very softly but his eyes keep spacing out.
“Are you going to talk to them about me?” I was devastated at his short replies; he wasn’t even moving much.
“Desmond!” I raised my voice finally to help him break out of his state, “I feel like you are mad at me,” I uttered and he closed his eyes with difficulty.
“I am---not,” he took a huge pause in between, “You rest, Ayleen.” He was hiding a big secret, “I will talk to them and try to resolve this matter.” He finally said a full sentence and eyed me to lie down in the bed.
I was so anxious that I doubted ever sleeping in peace again.
“B---,” I tried to speak but he didn’t listen to me and helped me in the bed.
“Sleep tight!” he bent over my forehead and planted a kiss, “I will stay by your side until you sleep.” He knelt beside the bed on his knees and ran his hand through my hair. At least he knew how much stress they had given me.
“Ayleen!” I suddenly jolted awake at a loud grunt from Desmond, “AYLEEN!” he was nonstop calling for me in panic.
Did something happen?
I instantly questioned myself and staggered up on my feet to exit the room and find him. The last thing I remember was him deciding to go and talk to his friends and Mrs. Brown to resolve matters then what happened all of a sudden?
I was welcomed by a dark mansion; it was the scariest feeling ever. Every single light had been put out and the only voices I could hear were of Desmond’s cries.
“Desmond?” I voiced, swiftly running downstairs while using my phone’s flashlight. I feared to encounter the worst thing, something that was going to change everything for us.
“Desm---,” I hadn’t finished when I saw Desmond on the couch in the living room.
“Ay----leen!” my eyes quickly picked up the sight of the blood. He was covered in his own blood with a big knife stabbed into his stomach.
“DESMOND!” I yelled, getting closer to him but my steps ceased the moment I noticed we weren’t alone.
“Ayleen! R---run!” Desmond murmured weakly before taking his one last breath. I was stuck in between reacting to Desmond and preparing my mind to this person, who was hiding behind a wall. He suddenly got out from there with another big knife in his hand and showed me his face.
“Evan!” my lips uttered in shock, “What did you do?” sudden appearance of tears in my eyes brought a smile to his lips whilst he kept taking a step closer to me.
“You ruined everything!” he glared at me, stepping even closer, “Why did you hurt Ava?” he shook his face in disapproval and lunged at me.
“AAhh!” I screamed and dodged him, running towards the exit when somebody’s presence stopped me.
“Mrs. Brown?” I stepped away from the door when she came towards me with a butcher knife in her hands and anger visible on her face.
“Wh--,” I tried to speak but as she rushed, I ran away towards the staircase. I was stuck between them and it wasn’t even the worst part. The worst part was that I began to hear Roy crying from upstairs.
I noticed both Evan and Mrs. Brown lifting up their faces and staring at the room.
No! they must not get closer to my son, he is innocent.
And then a smile on their faces made me twirl around and see what had happened.
“Hush! Mommy is here, baby.” Ava came out of the room with my Roy in her hands. She had her dress chopped till her stomach and wearing nothing under but her burned skin was all visible to me.
“You thought you could get rid of me?” Ava slowly turned to me and made very creepy eye contact, her mouth hardly opened when she spoke.
“Ava! My son has nothing to do with this, please don’t hurt him.” I begged but she only scoffed and shook her head.
“He will live; he is my baby. But you--,” she smirked and I realized that Evan was standing right behind me now.
