Chapter 101 Hundred and One
AMELIA XAVIER
The world should've ended the day I came to Paris, because that day changed everything for me.
My dream was to be like father, strong, confident and regal, but coming to Paris was something I wished to regret, but why couldn't I?
Ari pressed her leg against my wrist, pointing the gun at me. She smirked as she cocked the gun ready to end my existence. I shut my eyes, life flashing before me, tears building up.
Just shoot me, bastard!
I cursed.
Before she left the trigger, the door swung open, and someone I knew would come for me stood there, a gun in his hand.
Dylan Xavier, my father.
Ari Xavier left the trigger, but by then I had smacked her down so the bullet went flying across the wall. She fell with a thud and my confidence boosted.
“Attack!” Ari Xavier screamed to her men as they rushed towards Dad, his men blocked the way and fought them off.
Ari faced me, dried blood stained her face as sweat dripped from her chin splattering on the ground. I clenched my jaw and stood to finally end all this.
This time, I rushed at her, my fist making contact with her nose. She stumbled to the ground effortlessly trying to stand.
Ari gritted her teeth in pain and picked her gun which had fallen to the ground the moment I smacked her down.
“You're a loser. You can't do anything without your sweet father!” She raged, pointing the gun at me.
Ari fired but I ducked. Doing a back tumble, I snatched my own pistol which lay cold on the ground and shot at her leg.
She cried out loud going down on her knees.
“That's for slashing my leg!”
I stood to my feet, limping towards her. She pulled the trigger of her gun, but was out of bullets.
“Fuck!” I heard her whisper.
She tried standing but I shot at the other leg leaving her totally helpless and vulnerable.
“That's for thinking you can take over my house,” I said, loving this feeling that surged through me.
Ari Xavier thought she could win against us, but was wrong.
Not to lie, she would have come out victorious, but she let her anger get to her which was a bad thing in this kind of business.
“Just end me already!” She screamed amidst the commotion.
I sighted father fighting off Ari's men, and he was doing a damn good job at that.
My eyes rested at Ari's face, she had totally given up.
“I guess I win,” I mocked, cocking my gun and pointing it at her temple. I let the metal scrape her skin, blood dripping from her forehead.
She winced, biting her lip till it drew all the blood left in her.
“Any last words?” I asked, quite eager to know.
Ari spat at me in disgust. “Fuck you.”
The bullet penetrated through her head flying out from the back of her head.
She dropped dead, and everything seemed to seize.
All my enemies were dead. Of course there would be new ones, but for now they were dead.
Ari Xavier was as dead as her late father, Lucian Xavier.
Lucian Xavier died in the hands of my father and eleven years later — right here, right now, his daughter followed who died by my hands.
I looked over at my father who was breathing heavily, his hands and face bloody.
Ari was dead and so were her men.
From a distance I heard the wailing of the police siren as it pierced the air.
“Daddy…” I muttered suddenly feeling lightheaded.
Father rushed over to me, and caught me as I subconsciously fell.
“What's it?”
“We defeated the enemy,” I whispered oblivion slipping in slowly.
“Yes,” he said, like I asked a question.
“The police are coming. Let's get out of…”
I shut my eyes and welcomed darkness.
Two days had already passed when I finally opened my eyes, father sat beside me, his eyes glued to his phone. He was oblivious that I had woken up.
“Dad,” I called, slapping my palm across my mouth as I yawned.
“We'll talk later,” father said, dropping his phone.
He looked at me, happiness written all over his handsome face. His onyx coloured eyes shone in the light as he wrapped his arms around me.
“Baby you finally woke up, it's been two days,” he exclaimed, tightening his grip on me. He released me when I made it known he wanted to squeeze me to death.
Father told me everything that had happened for the past two days, how the police dropped the case and how Ari's allies took to their heels. Ari was buried beside her father and the ceremony was brief.
“What about Owen?” I asked, but when he did not reply I knew he hadn't gone to pay him a visit.
“I'm going to see him now,” I said stubbornly climbing down the hospital bed.
Father tried to stop me, but I was going to let him have his way.
“You're still weak at least…”
I turned to my father furiously, he was right that my body still faltered, but he didn't understand how much I loved that man. Owen Winters.
“Father, if Annie was in the hospital and you just woke up to find out no one came to see her, what would be your first reaction?” I asked steadying myself to keep from falling.
“I…” father's voice trailed because we both knew the answer.
“I'll drive you there,” he said and helped me down to the car.
The drive to the hospital Owen stayed wasn't that much of a distance, before three minutes we were there and was heading upstairs to meet him.
When I walked into the room, Owen turned sharply, his eyes dark and weary, but when he saw me it lit up.
“Pumpkin why… why the fuck are you on hospital clothes?” He asked, quite surprised.
I looked down at them just realizing I was in hospital dress. I chuckled and sat beside him.
“You won't believe what happened!”
Owen grinned that boyish grin.
“Tell me all about it.”
