Chapter 10 Ten
ANNIE
I was told many times by the maids and one time or twice Dylan mentioned that he had a daughter, but I didn't expect she would be this young. Her hair was dark brown like honey and she had the prettiest eyes, just like him.
She dropped her bag on the floor and ran to Dylan.
“Daddy!” She screamed hugging him like he was everything she had… which was true in a way.
“How have you been, Amy?” He asked, hugging her and using the tip of his fingers to caress her hair.
“I've been good. The academy wasn't so bad except I didn't have many friends because…” She looked at him and he rolled his eyes. “... You know, I scare them!” She said and smiled. I wasn't one who cared about friendship back in my school days but I knew how it felt when no one wanted to play or talk to me. I would sometimes sit alone in the playground or ride the swing alone all the while thinking of if I should go home or run away to a social worker because Dad was getting aggressive.
But it was all in the past.
I cared no longer.
I should not… but I did. Looking at how he hugged his daughter and patted her hair, showing her the kind of affection he could never show in bed made me feel somewhat jealous and wanting. I wore a small smile on my sore lips. It didn't matter… that was a long time ago and I had gotten over it.
“I was thinking that you should be homeschooled for the time being because someone might hurt my daughter”, he suddenly said, jolting me from my thoughts.
“I think it would be nice”, she said, shutting her eyes for a second or two.
Amy suddenly looked at me, that's when it dawned on me my current position — naked and bare, my breast popped out and my body spread wide like a freaking starfish.
Would she know what this is?
“Hello, you must be daddy's new toy”, she said with little or … no, there was no emotion on her face. I said nothing, just staring at her as though she were a ghost.
Then she smiled. “Don't let daddy get to you, he's a softie but can be a little bit aggressive with things”, she said and winked.
What I felt was unexplainable. It had a mixture of astonishment, pain and probably a little bit of horror. If I were correct she was ten, but why would a ten year old talk like she had seen life more than i who was in my late twenties.
But then I calmed myself because anything could happen as far as it revolved around Dylan Xavier.
“Go to your room”, he said and the young girl nodded, carrying her bag and leaving the room.
I looked at Dylan and he smirked. “She's too grown for her age”, he said and I frown. This wasn't my business but she was still a young girl.
“How old is she?”
“Amelia? She's ten now, but her age is just a disguise because her attitude reminds me of her mother”, he said and looked at me. I saw something cross his eyes, but couldn't decipher what it was so I shrugged it off. It didn't matter.
“She's too young…” I started to say, but he kissed my hair and I melted. Did he read my mind? This was what I really wanted at the moment and it was more satisfying than I expected.
He uncuffed me and patted my hair
“Go and dress up love, then you could make dinner”, he said and I nodded, grasping the remnants of his scent as his hands kissed my hair.
“I will see you tonight,” he said and left.
I watched him till he disappeared from the door leaving me naked and sore but yet satisfied. Then it occured to me, not that it wasn't noticable.
Dylan knew how to make a woman want more!
I had asked Amy her favourite meal and she told me she could eat anything without peas, and we clicked instantly. Dinner was set and we were seated waiting for Dylan.
Dylan showed up after some minutes of waiting and decided to eat before he washed up. The hall was quiet and uncomfortable, then Amy spoke. “Daddy, you remember the Winters right?” She asked and he nodded.
“I made friends with the boy and we're pretty close just that I know you won't like it”. She was a nonchalant girl with so much energy that never seemed to end and her carefree character…
“Then you should avoid him”
“I'm not going to!” She said eating her food like she hadn't just challenged her father. Strangely, Dylan shrugged it off maybe because if they ever bantered, she was sure to win.
There was silence once again and Amy asked a question.
“Daddy, is Annie my new mother?”
Dylan looked at me and then at her and back at his food. I understood well enough his silence... a question he didn't know the answer to. The feeling that painfully burrowed holes straight to the heart. The feeling that any rash answer would break every brick he spent eternity building.
I looked at him, he didn't look like the one to say anything so I spoke. “Are you done with your meal? Let's go to bed shall we?” I asked and she nodded.
I took her to the room and tucked her in. She was beautiful, her eyes just like her father and her ivory face… it suited her name. Amelia Xavier, the daughter and heir to the greatest mafia of all time, Dylan Xavier. This was when I decided that I would take care of her and treat her like my own. I couldn't bear to see this girl face what I had faced as a child… the world was a cruel place and we could survive anything if we leaned on each other.
I smiled… there was hope.
DYLAN XAVIER
“Oh daddy, you're fucking hot”
“Shit! I want you to fuck me till I die”
“You're so damn sweet, papi, lick me”
I walked into the cartel walking past the Asian ladies whose hands were everywhere. This was a cartel owned by the Chinese gang and everyone here was an enemy whether for business or pleasure even the naked women were dangerous.
But I wasn't here for sex or pleasure but business. I walked into the inner room that looked fancier than the other but I didn't stop there, I went through an elevator to the topmost floor and finally into a dimly lit room. It smelled of cigar and drugs mixed with spirit. This was going to be fun.
Sitting on a cushion I put my legs on the glass table waiting to be served. Some ladies came to my side but I waved them off, how could this man make me wait. I looked at my time, he was ten minutes late or was I too early?
“Mr Xavier, the dragon of all dragons, lord of the rings”, someone snickered making me glance up. It was that fat and dirty Mo Tang who, respectfully, had no neck.
“You are late”, I said and he shrugged, he sat opposite me, his belly bulging at his slightest movement, he had piercings all over his face and his tattoos weren't scars but obscene drawings.
“I'm so sorry, I should be killed”
“Cut the crap, you know why I'm here”, I said and he poured me wine. I looked at it and smirked. Typical Chines. The wine swayed looking absolutely normal, but to say the least I knew what it was … it was poisoned.
“Of course about the debt the Madison's owe me. Remember you killed them all”
I nodded, taking a cigar and lighting it.
“You owe me then since you took their assets alongside their lives”. I looked at him as he took a chicken lap using his teeth to tear off the flesh. He was revolting to watch.
“The Madison's aren't one to owe so your accusations are baseless. But we can strike a deal”
Inhale.
Exhale.
I watched his every move, they were planning something. His men were drawing their weapons and I knew what they were planning.
Pitiful.
“What deal?” He asked and I smiled. “The cartel…”
Someone from nowhere lunged towards me but with a quick movement, I grabbed him by the arm and threw him across the glass table. His men were all sloppy.
They were all sick! One flung a club at me, but I caught it, kicking him in the middle, and striking the club at his god-damned face.
I shot one on his fucking dick. Broke a neck or two. Butchered three heads and unalived one without much effort.
The women were screaming, running to probably save their slutty heads.
Mo Tang sat feeling impressed as I walked towards him. He grinned. “You are the real deal, Xavier and your cousin keeps bad mouthing you”, he said, clapping.
“Now , the deal?” , I said and he nodded. I sat, using a body as my footstool, a grin spread across my face. Fuck this.
The house seemed too quiet especially when Amy was around. I walked towards the kitchen just to hear giggles.
“Daddy used to play with me and read me books, but then one day he got too busy and moved me to school”. It was Amelia, I smiled a little leaning forward to hear more.
“Well, my life wasn't really fun, I didn't really have a normal childhood and my growing up was a mess,” Annie said, patting Amy's head. “Get the flour, let's make snacks specially for us. You want cookies and pancakes right?” Amy nodded and they laughed.
“Daddy missed this one,” she said and they laughed again.
I shut my eyes and opened them, I felt peace for the first time in a while and it was disturbing, but I wanted more of it no matter how scary it felt.
I didn't smile, but I was glad… she was the right person I needed.
I was never letting her go.
