Chapter 129: THE NEW DORIAN IS STILL A BITCH
CHAPTER 129
SELENE
I never expected to see Elder Harkin walking towards me that fine afternoon. The sun felt warm on my skin as I sat on the wooden block.
I had wanted to talk to him because I knew something was going on in the pack, but I couldn’t bring myself to ask in case he shut me down.
I shifted away from the block as he joined me. The wood felt hard and warm under my thighs from the afternoon sun.
I greeted him politely. “Elder Harkin.”
He didn’t look at me but stared straight ahead instead. His face looked serious. “I will be brief.”
He told me, his voice low and steady, “The Council of Wolf Elders had recently threatened the Alpha to make him take Luna and he had agreed to it. Except when I made the decision for him to mate from the pack. And suggested he chose you as you're the only female who had stayed longer in the pack and knew the rules and would be fit to be the Luna, Dorian refused vehemently and warned me never to mention that name to him again.”
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. The wood creaked under me. Of course Dorian would do this to me and refuse for me to be Luna because of Charlotte. The thought made my stomach twist with sharp anger and jealousy that burned in my chest.
I asked him, my voice tight, “Who did he choose then?”
Elder Harkin kept his gaze forward. “He didn’t choose anyone but gave everyone in the council a task to find a pack with a female that hasn’t been given for marriage.” He cleared his throat. “We'd submitted them this afternoon and he’d ordered Zade to prepare a meeting to see Alpha Celeb. He's going to choose his daughter Dorothy.”
That hit like a blow. He chooses to mate with someone outside the pack? He didn’t choose Charlotte as his mate anymore? Does that mean the spell worked? Holy shit! It worked or else why would he choose someone else and leave her? My heart beat faster in my chest and my hands felt cold.
Elder Harkin cleared his throat and apologised. “I’m sorry for not being able to convince the Alpha to choose you as his mate as I’d seen the future of this pack with you as the Luna but Dorian refused.”
I felt a sharp sting in my chest. Elder Harkin continued, “Decisions haven’t been met and even though Alpha Celeb has been wanting to form an alliance with us for a while, if Dorian presents the offer of marriage to them, Alpha Celeb wouldn’t refuse. But it doesn’t mean you should give up. You should try to get close to Dorian and see if you can change his mind yourself.”
I couldn’t bring myself to tell him it would be useless, so I nodded and thanked him for informing me of this. My throat felt dry and tight.
Elder Harkin stood up. “If peradventure Dorian asks how you knew about it, you shouldn’t call my name.”
I nodded and thanked him again. He walked away without another word, his footsteps fading on the path.
I tapped my legs on the floor for a while, thinking deeply about everything Harkin had just told me. The suppress bond spell I was using on Dorian was working. I just needed to push my luck with Dorian.
The thought made my pulse quicken with a mix of hope and determination. I couldn’t let anyone win. Not after everything I had done. A small, satisfied smile tugged at my lips as I imagined Dorian finally choosing me.
I returned to my room and hurriedly changed out of my top into another presentable one. The soft fabric brushed cool against my skin as I pulled it on. I sprayed perfume on my neck and wrists, the sweet floral scent filling the air around me.
I applied makeup to my face and lips, the lipstick feeling smooth and slightly sticky. I checked my reflection in the mirror and decided I looked pretty enough. I stepped out of the room and was immediately hit with the thought of where Dorian could be.
I realized I had failed to ask Harkin. I should have asked where Dorian was. I thought deeply and decided to head to his office. I walked down the corridor, my heart beating faster with every step.
Just as I got near the room, the door opened and Dorian stepped out. My heart raced even faster at the sight of him. Has he gotten more handsome? Or were my eyes deceiving me as always?
He was dressed in a tight-fitting shirt that hugged his broad chest and muscular arms, paired with black pants. He looked every inch the Alpha with his long hair pulled into a neat ponytail.
I stopped in the middle of the corridor and stared at him. Unconsciously, I licked my lips as strange thoughts filled my mind. I imagined his huge, strong hands pinning my neck against the wall, his fingers pressing firmly into my skin as he tore my clothes from my body with rough urgency.
His heavy weight pressing into me to keep me in place, his hot breath on my neck, his lips claiming mine roughly and deeply, our tongues battling in a wet, heated dance. His other hand sliding down my body, fingers gripping and exploring every curve while I writhed in pleasure underneath him, my moans filling the air.
My own hands reaching for his trousers, pulling off his belt with trembling fingers. He slowly guided me down on my knees, and I grabbed his hard, throbbing cock, feeling its heat and thickness in my palm as I…
“Selene!” Someone screamed my name and I jerked out of my thoughts. I found Dorian staring at me with pure disgust.
I realized I had been making soft noises and writhing against the wall, my body moving on its own. My cheeks burned with embarrassment. I straightened up quickly, coughed, and cleared my throat before standing upright.
I called his name softly. “Dorian.” I made to step forward, but he stepped backward and glared at me.
“Stay where you are and talk to me if you have anything reasonable in that thick head of yours to say.” He snapped angrily.
I frowned slightly, taken aback by his harsh words. Why was he talking to me this way? Wasn’t the spell working? He was supposed to come around me.
I blinked repeatedly, too confused and shocked to mutter any more words.
Dorian shook his head. “Of course you’d crawl from whatever gutter you came from and come to stand in front of me to perform how much of a bitch you can be.” He spat on the floor near my feet. “You’re disgusting and nothing on earth would make me sleep with you. Get that into your thick skull. The next time you stop me to perform your madness, I’ll have you locked for a day in the dungeon.”
He walked past me without another word, his footsteps heavy on the floor. I gasped, my chest tightening with humiliation.
I8 stood in the corridor for a while trying to process what had happened. My cheeks burned hot with embarrassment. I turned and ran to my room, bursting into tears as the shame settled heavily on me.
I burst into my room and slammed the door behind me. My hands were still shaking as I grabbed my phone and dialed Julian. The line rang twice before she picked up.
“Julian,” I said, my voice cracking with hurt and anger. “You won’t believe what just happened.”
“Selene? What’s wrong? You sound terrible,” Julian replied, her tone immediately concerned.
I paced back and forth across the room, my footsteps echoing on the wooden floor. “I saw Dorian in the corridor. I was going to talk to him and… I got lost in my thoughts for a moment. He caught me. He looked at me with so much disgust, Julian. Like I was something filthy.”
I swallowed hard, my throat tight. “He told me to stay away and said I was disgusting. That nothing on earth would make him sleep with me. He threatened to lock me in the dungeon if I ever approached him like that again.”
Julian was quiet for a second. I could hear her breathing on the other end. “That’s weird. That doesn’t sound like the new Dorian you're supposed to get all. We need to see Maeve immediately.”
