Epilogue
''Are you joking?" I exclaimed with excitement, but Jane shook her head with a giggle. "I truly believe he's a good man, and I think I've fallen in love with him. After all, he is my mate," she spoke with a wide smile on her face.
I couldn't believe it - who would have thought she would accept her mate, despite he was a vampire. "I'm so happy for you," I said, opening my arms for a hug.
''Just be careful not to suffocate my little one," we heard Derick's voice from the door, announcing his presence.
Jane rolled her eyes and scoffed at his teasing, as Alpha Derick made his way over to us. He placed a gentle kiss on my swollen stomach and asked, "How are you doing, my prince?" I playfully scoffed, "What if it's a girl?"
Derick simply replied, "Then she will look absolutely stunning, just like her mother," before kissing my lips and moving away.
As he stood up, my heart swelled with happiness, thanking the moon goddess for blessing me with such love and joy.
''I have something to show you," he said, extending his hand for me to take. Eager and curious, I asked, "What is it?" He simply replied, "Come with me," and lifted me off the couch. Turning to Jane, he invited her to join us before leading me down the hallway.
Passing by two doors, we finally arrived at the third, and he gestured for me to open it. The room beyond was a vision of serene beauty, with soft pastel colors adorning the walls and a cozy, welcoming ambiance that made me feel instantly at ease. My eyes were immediately drawn to the center of the room, where a stunning white wooden crib stood, its plush mattress covered with a delicately striped pink and white sheet. Above it, a mobile with tiny plush animals swayed in the breeze, adding a playful touch.
Next to the crib, there was a dresser with a changing table on top, painted a soft blue color and boasting three large drawers. A white changing pad with essential diaper supplies lay nearby, ready for use. Positioned beside the dresser was a glider rocking chair with a matching ottoman, upholstered in a delightful light blue fabric with white polka dots.
The room's large window let in plenty of natural light, and a sheer white curtain gently swayed in the breeze. A potted plant on the windowsill added a touch of greenery to the space, while a plush teddy bear watched over the room from the top of a bookshelf filled with children's books and toys. The soft, fluffy blue rug covering the floor was perfect for little ones to crawl on.
"It's beautiful," I thought to myself, and I could feel Beatrice's excitement resonating within me.
"I decorated it myself," he said proudly, and without a word, I hugged him gratefully, overwhelmed by the thought and effort he had put into creating this special space for our little one.
Bernard. (Epilogue)
"I think I'll take a walk, you can head home," I told my assistant, eager to clear my head and get some fresh air. It had been six months since the tumultuous events of my past, and I was grateful for the healing power of time.
As I strolled, I spotted a cozy coffee shop and decided to pop in for a cup of coffee. I found a seat in the corner and ordered my drink, my mind wandering as I sipped the warm liquid.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, and I looked up to see a woman entering the shop. She was dressed in a simple yet elegant outfit of black jeans and a navy blouse, her black hair pulled up in a neat bun. Our eyes met, and I couldn't help but stare - she was breathtaking.
"Mine." A voice howled in my head, and I found myself standing up, drawn to her like a magnet. As she caught my gaze, she too seemed surprised but had a bright smile on her face. She ran towards me, falling into my embrace and sending my heart racing.
"I've finally met you. You're no longer just a dream," she whispered, tears streaming down her cheeks. My heart swelled with emotion, and I held her tighter, grateful for this unexpected meeting and the promise of a new beginning.
