Chapter 42 You Have No Guts

Chapter 42 You Have No Guts
After discussing this, Rossie immediately returned to the office with Darren because there were matters that needed to be taken care of there. When they arrived, Rossie entered the lobby first while Darren parked the car.

Unfortunately, just as he arrived at the lobby, someone suddenly grabbed his shoulder and forced him to stop, and it was Bryce Johansen.

"The commotion at the press conference earlier was your doing, wasn't it?" asked Bryce, gripping Rossie's shoulder.

At that moment, a security guard approached them and intended to help Rossie, but Rossie shook her head and asked him to leave and keep his mouth shut so that Bryce would not find out her true identity.

Rossie smiled and teased, "Oh, Mr. Johansen, are you using that excuse to meet me and tell me that we are going to take care of the divorce now? You don't need to bother coming, just ask your secretary to invite me there, then everything will be settled!"

The word "divorce" seemed to mock Bryce. He had come here to discuss the Jones group issue, but it turned out that all Rossie wanted was a divorce.

"Does this satisfy you?" Bryce asked curtly.

"What do you mean?"

"Do you think I don't know that you used your charm to seduce the Cavendish brothers and persuade them to pressure the Jones family until they were almost bankrupt?"

Rossie smiled as she folded her arms across her chest. "So, Mr. Johansen, you rushed here just to defend your future wife's family and take your anger out on me?"

Rossie had moved on and no longer belonged to Bryce. However, it seemed that Bryce did not want to let her go and was always looking for trouble with her.

"Hmm, Bryce Johansen, regardless of whether I took advantage of the Cavendish brothers or not, you still couldn't do anything to save the Jones group. Jake cheated the Nexus group and he deserves this punishment!"

Rossie's expression suddenly hardened. Her red lips curved into a captivating smile, charming anyone who saw it. "You can't do anything to record it, so you're bothering me to vent your anger! But Bryce, I'm not the weak Rossie you've known all this time!"

Bryce immediately grabbed Rossie's arms when he heard this, his gaze sharp and intimidating, but Rossie was not afraid.

"You're completely immoral!" Bryce felt his breath catch in his throat as he uttered those words.
"Thank you for the compliment." Rossie smiled sarcastically.

"But even if I'm shameless and immoral, what does that mean to you? Who are you to judge and interfere in my affairs?"

Seeing that the conversation was pointless, Rossie turned around and left. However, Bryce was reluctant to let her go. He tightened his grip even on her injured arm.

"Let me go!" Rossie winced.

"Rossie, what do I mean to you? You know it yourself!" Bryce's voice was hoarse, and his gaze was so sharp it pierced her.

Rossie replied angrily, "Of course I know. A useless ex-husband!"

"Rossie!" Bryce's eyes suddenly turned red.

"Bryce! Let me go!" Rossie struggled.

At that moment, Darren suddenly arrived and immediately punched Bryce, managing to free Rossie from his grip.

"How dare you hurt Miss..." Darren shouted.

Rossie glared at him, and Darren understood.

"You already hurt her hand, and now you're adding to that injury? Are you still a man?" Darren sneered.

Bryce felt pain in his heart as his fingers, which had just touched Rossie, clenched into a fist.
Rossie glanced at Darren with a hint of resentment. She felt she didn't need to show this in front of Bryce. It was as if she were trying to gain sympathy.

"Are you Dominic Cavendish's secretary?" Bryce's expression became serious as soon as he recognized Darren.

"Yes, I'm his secretary. Is there a problem?" Darren asked confidently.

"Well, Dominic didn't hesitate to spend money when he assigned his trusted secretary to protect you, Rossie. Wow!" Bryce grinned.

"He must really appreciate you. Congratulations, you're going to marry into another rich family. You've completely deceived me, and now it's Dominic's turn, oh, or maybe Marcus. I hope they never see your true colors."

Those words pierced Rossie's heart like a sharp knife, and Bryce didn't stop there. He seemed intent on continuing to harass her.

Darren immediately noticed Rossie's unstable breathing and her shoulders trembling in his arms. What confused Darren were Bryce's words. Was he crazy? What nonsense was he talking about?

"Darren, allow me to introduce you," Rossie said calmly, even though her feelings were in turmoil. "This is Mr. Johansen from the Johansen Group, who is also my ex-husband of three years."

"What?" Darren was shocked, his face as pale as paper. He couldn't believe Rossie had hidden that from the world and the Cavendish family. What was she thinking?

"We're divorced now. I've cut all ties with the Johansen family," Rossie said firmly, trying to hide her pain with a smile. "From now on, we are strangers."

"But we're not officially divorced yet! Grandma's birthday..." Bryce tried to argue.

"Enough! Stop using Grandma as an excuse!" Rossie's frustration and anger were evident in her trembling voice. Her eyes were red. "You're just using Grandma as an excuse to keep pressuring me, aren't you? You're taking advantage of my closeness to Grandma!"

Bryce's body trembled as he felt the impact of Rossie's sharp words. He tried to calm himself amid the intense exchange. He couldn't remember ever seeing her so angry.

In his memory, she was always calm like a summer day, rarely showing her emotions. She looked angry, her eyebrows furrowed with deep resentment. This was worse than their previous encounter at the hospital.

"We were only surviving in a fake relationship. You ended our relationship with your own hands by asking me to sign the divorce papers. You cheated on me while we were still married, and did I ever blame you for anything? So why should I suffer as a widow and remain faithful to you? Did you expect me to never remarry? How could you be so selfish!"

"Selfish?" Bryce felt a pain in his chest. He couldn't understand why his actions had become uncontrollable. He didn't know why he still held on to his ex-wife.

"Besides, I never broke my promise. I intended to keep our divorce a secret until Grandma's birthday. But you were so stupid in dealing with your future wife that she ended up revealing it in public! "Rossie exclaimed, leaving Bryce speechless.

" Now you're turning the situation around and blaming me, but I understand why. You can only blame me. It's because of your inability to teach her, isn't it? You are weak when dealing with her!"

Bryce stood stiffly in the wind as if he had turned to stone. He watched Darren take Rossie away. His cheeks felt hot as if he had been hit repeatedly.

"I won't look back at what's left behind." Bryce clenched his fists. Even though he had initiated the divorce, he now felt abandoned. His throat was filled with bitterness. His heart was broken.
