Chapter 38 Long Standing Grudge
"Grandma!" Bryce shouted worriedly, as did Gerald, wanting to approach his mother and prepare to assess her condition.
But Miranda held his arm. "My husband, I didn't mean to hurt myself, I was just shocked by what happened to my cousin's family. The slander they received was really unfair, while they were very honest."
Grandma, who was still holding her chest, stood up straight, "What kind of integrity are you talking about? Don't think I don't know anything just because I'm old and no longer on the front lines. They are digging their own graves by committing fraud!"
Bryce gently rubbed Lucia's back, "What are you trying to do? Try to persuade me? Huh! You're just like your father, easily seduced by cunning women! "
Miranda gasped, knowing that Grandmother's words were actually directed at her.
" Mom, calm down. Even if I marry Lily, I won't help the Jones group with this matter. "Yes. The Jones Group is immoral, so I won't help them."
Grandmother's eyes lit up instantly, "Well, at least you're still sane, unlike your father, even though you'll end up marrying that troublemaker!"
Bryce then looked at his stepmother and said coldly, "Aunt Miranda, I know you and Aunt Daisy are sisters, and it's natural to want to help her, but you can't ignore the interests of the Johansen Group. If this happens, wouldn't your statement that this is for the good of the Johansen family be untrue?"
Miranda fell silent, and her cheeks flushed red. Bryce was no longer a child who could be easily manipulated by her.
"The reason I want you to help the Jones group is not only because of your relationship with Lily, but also because of the Nexus group's arbitrary actions when I came to the business meeting to discuss the Havenly! Do you know what happened in the end? Dominic Cavendish thwarted our plans!" said Gerald.
Bryce, who knew about this, sighed deeply and clenched his fists.
The two families had been feuding for almost a century. The Johansens' hatred for them deepened when they went bankrupt a few years ago, while the Cavendishes remained successful. The Cavendish family even swore that none of their descendants would marry into the Johansen family!
Their groups had been observing a ceasefire for several years, but in recent days, the feud had resurfaced.
"So it was Dominic Cavendish?" asked Bryce.
"Yes, he's the one!"
Bryce clenched his fist on the table and pressed down hard, gritting his teeth. Now he was starting to think about supporting the Jones group in its fight against the Cavendishes.
Miranda and Gerald had already left the room, and Grandma muttered angrily, "What a pity! All the men in our family are trapped by the cunning Jones women!"
After that, Grandma bent down and seemed to have difficulty picking something up. Bryce, who saw this, immediately took the initiative to pick it up. It was a hand fan that Grandma never let out of her hands.
Grandma had once said that Rossie had painted it as a gift for her. Bryce had never seen it up close, and now he was surprised. The fan was decorated with classic calligraphy and a rose at its base.
"Rossie designed this? She can do calligraphy?" thought Bryce as he looked at the fan.
Bryce had always thought Rossie was no match for Leslie, who was good at playing the piano, dancing, singing, and painting. He assumed that Rossie's only talent was doing the housework.
But now he found that Rossie was slowly shining after they broke up? She now exuded confidence. And her previously unknown abilities were beginning to be revealed one by one, surprising him.
'Did she deliberately hide her best side from me and think that only Dominic deserved it? Does she love Dominic?'
Bryce snorted in annoyance, 'Huh! If she could show me her best side, how could I ignore her? This is your fault, Rossie!'
"In the past, Rossie always visited me every weekend and sometimes took me out for walks. She also often read books to me, without any hesitation. Sometimes I saw her painting calligraphy, and it was really enjoyable to admire her beautiful wor," Grandma said.
"When she started writing, I could tell that she had more than ten years of experience. Her writing style was calm and skillful. Her elegant demeanor told me that she came from a respectable family, "said Grandma.
Grandma then pursed her lips and sighed." She is much better than that girl from the Jones family that you are always so proud of. Unfortunately, you are blind and only care about that girl."
Lucia pursed her lips and opened her hand fan. There was a meaningful and beautifully written prose sentence on it. It read, "There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."
Bryce was surprised, not because of the Shakespeare quote written there, but because the handwriting style looked identical to the calligraphy hanging in Miss Cavendish's office.
His memory returned to when he saw Rossie walking down the corridor after he finished meeting with Cavendish. Plus, earlier that morning, Rossie had openly said that she worked for the Nexus Group.
How could this be a coincidence? Were they both the same person?
No... this is impossible. Miss Cavendish is so bright and classy, unlike Rossie, who is cunning and seduces men!' thought Bryce.
Meanwhile, at the luxurious villa in the city of Veridia…
Dominic was having lunch with his father, reporting on what he had done during his business meeting in Bostwick and his success in acquiring The Havenly hotel. Pierre Cavendish nodded after listening to his eldest son's account.
A satisfied expression appeared on his stern face. Dominic was indeed good at everything and reliable. "Dominic, I didn't expect you to be able to do something this cruel to the Johansen group."
Pierre raised his glass and toasted his eldest son. "You've always tried to be calm and peaceful, not hot-headed like Marcus. What's gotten into you?"
"There are times when a person has to change their attitude depending on the situation and circumstances," Dominic replied philosophically.
Then he sipped his wine elegantly. Pierre smiled inwardly. He knew what made Dominic do it. Although he was usually calm and peaceful, when it came to the Cavendish family, especially his only younger sister, he would reveal his hidden fangs. "You deserve to be the future leader of the Cavendish family!"
Pierre patted Dominic on the shoulder with a smile. The middle-aged man continued, "Besides, Gerald and I are rivals. His grandfather once mistreated your great-grandmother, and now it's happening again to your reckless younger sister! Huh, now is the time to teach that arrogant Johansen a lesson!"
Dominic remained silent as his father considered how great their family was at holding grudges for years!
