Chapter 71 One Scratch

"I mean......where is Lil Kai? Is he...." I gulped slightly. "Is he at the mansion?"
He looked at me.
If I am going back to that mansion then the one thing that kept me sane has to be there.
"Why don't you ask the boss instead?" he asked.
I furrowed my brows slightly.
"Excuse me, ma'am." He said, walking out the door, and closed the door.
I let out a sigh as I relaxed on the cushion, staring at the ceiling as tears rolled down my face.
HOURS LATER........
KINCAID MANSION....
We pulled up to the building, making my heart twirl as I recalled the day Naomi helped me escape.
I didn't think I would come back here.
I thought I was free.
Very free.
But I was wrong.
I am back at this place.
The door opened, catching me off guard. Big Kai just opened the door for me.
I have no idea when he got out of the driver's seat.
He extended his hand to me. I placed my hand on his and he held it possessively as I got out of the car. Caleb approached us from a different car as Big Kai closed the door.
"The entire household is ready for the announcement, sir," Caleb said.
Announcement?
"Sweet. Let's holla at 'em." Big Kai said, leading us towards the mansion's entrance. Caleb followed us behind.
My breathing almost worked abnormally as we walked. We got to the door, Caleb hurriedly opened it for us and we entered.
The familiar aesthetics filled my eyes and so did all the maids and guards standing in the living room.
I gulped, feeling tears approaching as he took us towards the living room.
Why is everyone here?
My eyes roamed till they fell on Coco.
She is staring at me with a cheerful look.
I tried my hardest to reciprocate but my eyes moved further and fell on Naomi.
My heart clenched.
She shook her head slightly if she was trying to tell me how disappointed she was in me for letting her effort go to waste.
I lowered my gaze, feeling terrible.
It's my fault. I trusted Axel.
Big Kai knew Axel. That's why he was able to trace me. I should have thought of that at first and gone far away.
I would be here if I didn't let my stupid heart rule my mind.
Now I am here.
I caused it.
"Welcome home, sir!" Everyone said in unison.
"Is this everyone, Caleb?" Big Kai asked without letting go of my hand.
"Yes, sir. This is everyone." Caleb said.
I looked around again. I don't see Jay Jay anywhere.
Is he really not here?
If he is, Coco has to be the one holding him. Where is he?
"Listen up," Big Kai spoke up. "This fiancee gonna be brief. I believe y'all know who she is."
Everyone looked at me.
I lowered my gaze.
"Yes, sir." Everyone said.
"Well, she ma fiancee now."
I gulped.
"And the queen to be of this fucking house."
I felt the need to fiddle with something because this feels unsettling for me.
"Y'all gonna treat her the same way you treat me. She ma queen now. I want no disrespect or disregard. Y'all fucking hear me?"
"Yes, sir!" They said.
"Secondly, we have a fucking wedding to plan. We have one week to be fucking ready. I want a perfect grand wedding and I can't do that without my staff devotion." he said.
God, he is really serious about the wedding.
"The compound is massive enough for the ceremony. I want extreme perfection. Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes, sir!"
"What's your name?" Big Kai asked, making me look at him.
"Coco, sir," Coco answered.
I looked at her. She is staring at Big Kai.
"You are her maid from now on," Big Kai gestured to me.
Coco moved her eyes to me. I stared at her. She nodded and moved her eyes to Big Kai.
"Yes, sir."
"Good. Now bounce." He ordered, making everyone walk away. I looked at them.
Coco is focused on the way but Naomi is still standing there, staring at me.
I lowered my gaze, feeling terrible.
"Sir, the table is set for dinner," she said.
"Let's go," Big Kai said, taking me towards the table. We got to the table and Big Kai took out a seat close to the head seat for me.
I sat on it slowly and he sat on the head seat. Caleb sat right opposite me. I looked at him but his eyes were everywhere but me.
He really can't help me, can he?
The maids approached with our meal and served us.
Coco is one of them. She placed my meal in front of me and flicked her eyes at me. I held her swift gaze before she walked away.
I stared at her as she walked away. I wish I could talk to her and ask her about Jay Jay.
"Enjoy," Big Kai said, making me look at him.
He is looking between me and the meal.
I lowered my gaze on my meal as I focused on the aroma which I had ignored all through because of Coco.
It is a very good-looking meal. We are having grilled ribeye steak, tomato sauce, and veggies.
My taste buds watered for a bite. Slowly, I picked up a fork as Big Kai and Caleb ate.
I took out a portion of the steak and ate. The pleasant taste made my belly crave more.
"How 'em invitations for Bricktown going so far, Caleb?" Big Kai asked as a movement close to him took my attention.
It was Naomi. She is pouring wine into his glass. Her eyes flicked at me.
"Slowly. We just started but hopefully tomorrow, everything will be ready." Caleb said
I locked eyes with Naomi but she averted her eyes from me.
I chewed my meal slowly as she moved towards me and began pouring wine into my glass.
"I want everyone in Bricktown to be there." Big Kai said as Naomi moved to Caleb.
"Yes, sir."
Big Kai held my hand, making me look at him.
We locked eyes.
"It's gonna be a great day for us, baby," he said, smiling.
I gulped and lowered my gaze. I looked at Naomi. She is looking at me.
She walked away, making me return my gaze to my meal.
Time went by and we were done eating. The maids served us pastries for dessert. Caleb is not here, just Big Kai and me.
I felt his eyes on me, making me look at him.
He is sipping his drink and staring at me like he could eat me up right now.
"You look tensed, shawty." He said.
I lowered my gaze.
"Will you ever be relaxed around me?"
No. Just let me go. I don't want to be with you.
He leaned on the table and closer, making my heart drop like he heard my thoughts.
"Give it time, baby. You will be more than relaxed." He said.
God, he is never going to give up, is he? How do I get out of this situation?
He relaxed in his seat, still staring at me.
I can feel his gaze.
Maybe Naomi can help me again. Will she? Her gaze looks like she is upset with me or something.
I need to think of something first. A week is not far. I can't marry this dangerous man.
He terrifies me.
"Tell me what is going on in your head," he said, making me freeze.
What is he? A listener? He can hear thoughts?
"I'm listening, white girl."
I gulped.
God, whenever he calls me that, it tells me he is getting upset.
I looked at him.
He is looking at me.
"Um....I..I am thinking about Jay Jay." My brain worked faster.
He averted his eyes from me. Almost like he rolled his eyes.
"I mean Lil Kai."
He picked up his glass and took a sip.
"Where is he?"
"Tell me something else," he said without looking at me.
I furrowed my brows.
He is sipping his drink.
"What?"
"Tell me something else you got in your mind, girl."
"He is....he is all I have in my mind."
"Forget it."
"But....."
"The fuck did I just say?!" He sparked.
I flinched.
He glared at me. "Don't ever say that damn name around me again. Got it?"
I kept staring at him as my heart pounded.
He averted his eyes from me and gulped his entire drink in a pissed way.
I lowered my gaze as the thought of Jay Jay became serious. God, where is he?
Naomi told me they found out that Jay Jay is not Big Kai's son. Knowing how dangerous Big Kai is, what could he have done to Jay Jay?
No one wants to tell me.
Big Kai is pissed because I called Jay Jay's name.
He is really pissed.
I just hope he......I just hope he didn't hurt Jay Jay.
I also can't see Jay Jay's mom and that dread guy.
God, I really hope he didn't hurt Jay Jay.
If he did........then Caleb is wrong when he said his boss has a good heart.
No different from Axel.

"Boss," an unfamiliar male voice called, claiming our attention.
It was an unfamiliar light-skinned black man, a bit tall, bald, and dressed in a black suit, standing at the far end of the huge table.
"Chris, right?" Big Kai asked.
"Yes, boss."
"What's your last name?" Big Kai asked.
"Gerald." The man answered.
Next, I felt Big Kai holding my hand, sending shivers down my spine as I stared at our hands and then at him.
He is looking at Chris blankly.
"This ma queen," he said, without looking away from him. His eyes moved to me.
"That's your new bodyguard. Chris Gerald."
I furrowed my brows slightly.
Bodyguard?
His eyes moved back to Chris.
"You finna protect her with your life."
"That's ma job, boss."
"One scratch and you get double." Big Kai threatened, making my heart drop.
"I ain't fucking playin'."
"Yes, boss. You ain't got nothing to worry about. She'll be safe." Chris said eagerly.
Big Kai pulled my hand, making me look at him.
He maintained eye contact as he moved it to his lips and kissed my knuckles.
My heart reacted but the terror is still evident.
Next, the entrance door opened and closed.
"Kai!" Imani's loud voice could slice off peace.
And her clicking heels.
