Chapter 73 73
Mr Colt stood up to receive an handshake and they took their seat opposite each other calmly.
Mr Colt's eyes went up to Doreen and she looked at Alexa, "Just...give us some time alone." She said and Doreen nodded, leaving the place.
"I'm really sorry for asking to meet you like this."
"I'm gaining something from it too. " Alexa said, her face getting hard, "I didn't expect to be played dirty like this." She shook her head.
"I'm really sorry."
"I met you at a fashion show in Australia three years ago, Mr Colt. You were one of those really captured with my work and you decided to invest in my company, to get some shares. Have you gotten enough of your money to sell the shares just like that?" She leaned closer, interlocking her fingers.
"No." He shook his head.
"Then what is it?" Alexa asked disappointedly.
"It was all a scam." Mr Colt said, shaking his head, "Mr Welland scammed us." He said trying to make her believe.
"Calm down and explain to me, what did he do?" She asked, secretly turning on the recorder on her phone.
"It was all a business idea which was doing well for the first of set of people who invested in it. But this time around, the starting money was just so high, we had to use our shares for collateral." He confessed. Alexa's eyes widened in shock,
"What?"
"We lost it. He got the shares. We didn't know he was the mastermind behind all these." He said.
"You mean to say Ryder conned you into all these? Almost all of the shareholders, just like that? How can you be so shallow minded as to believe his lies?" She asked in shock and let out a gasp.
"I'm so sorry. We should never have trusted him. We were just so greedy. We wanted more money and more, we didn't think twice before putting our shares." He shook his head slowly in regret.
"Can I use this?" Alex raised her phone up and his eyes widened in shock.
"No! He told us to keep this secret!" He shot.
"You've lost everything. You want to lose the chance to fight too?" She asked and sighed, dropping the phone on the table between them.
"It's your life, your sweat, your blood. You should have the choice to do whatever you want with it. Do you want to fight or do you want to lose without even fighting?" She leaned closer to him in a convincing voice. Her eyes seemed to plead also, she needed him to choose rightly or she could risk loosing everything.
"What did he say? Do you have anything you can use for proof?" Doreen asked curiously the moment they got into the car.
"Well, I have a record of his truth. I'm so glad he gave us the right to use it. He wants to fight and he'll help us convince the rest of the shareholders."
"Do you really want them to have their shares back? If they could give it out easily, doesn't that -"
"They've learnt their lesson, Doreen. We should help them now. Besides, this is the first problem I have working with them. They've been good so far." She said and Doreen nodded her head as she started the car and they went on their way.
Alexandra stared at her phone for a moment before she looked out of the window, "Have the real goods arrived yet?" She asked.
"It'll be arriving tomorrow. Also, the station are going to return the smuggled goods back to their country. I don't know how the government plans to settle that." Doreen replied.
"It's none of our business. As long as we are out of it." Alexandra sighed.
"Can we get Miss Grace's statement? I plan to bring SH Apparels down with that." Alexandra muttered, annoyance in her voice. Stella had gotten to her limit already. It was time to drag the young lady from her high horse.
"She hadn't been coming to work, but I know her house. I could take you-"
"Wait." Alexandra suddenly shot and Doreen pressed the brake, the car coming to a sudden stop. The car rocked forward and back before it finally stopped and Alexa immediately came down, carrying her bag.
"Text me Miss Grace's location. I'll be there in an hour." She said and closed the door, running into the glass restaurant.
Doreen's eyes followed her steps and she blinked, "Isn't that Mrs Jordans?" She muttered in suprise as she shook her head, driving off.
"Alexandra!" Antonia gasped in shock as she stood up and walked to Alexa, hugging her tightly.
"I'm so sorry for everything that happened." She shook her head, looking at the girl pitifully.
"If it hadn't been for Liam's stupidity, all these would have never happened to you." She added.
A chuckle escaped from someone's lips and when Alexa looked behind Antonia, she saw Adele sitting down on the chair. This was precisely the reason she came into the restaurant.
"Right, Adele. It's very funny to see how stupid Liam is sometimes." Antonia shook her head as she led Alexa carefully to take a seat.
"Actually, Liam helped me solve all of these problems so I guess it's fair now." Alexa purposely said as a cup of coffee was dropped in front of her.
"Are you taking Liam's side now? I thought you hated him." Antonia asked.
"Well..." Alexa threw Adele a glance as she spoke, "Liam pleaded with me so much, I had no choice than to forgive him." She slipped from her cup of coffee.
"Liam has pride. I don't...think he would plead with someone for attention."
"Attention?" Alexa laughed, "He needs my attention, I don't need his. Don't you agree, mother?" She looked at Antonia.
Antonia laughed lightly, knowing where the fight was going between the two ladies.
"You must be so great for Liam to need your attention. Who the hll are you?" Adele raised a brow and Alexa fished out her card from her bag, passing it to her swiftly.
"Alexandra Chapman of Velvet Vixen." She smiled.
