Chapter 21 Twenty-one
"Jade, if you are done, let's go and play somewhere else." Jace said calmly and Jade climbed down from Liam's body and followed Jace.
"Do you want to eat something?" Liam asked slowly, staring at Alexandra.
"Are we here on a date? It's absurd seeing the way you rented the whole restaurant." She replied plainly and he pursed his lips.
"I did that so we'll be able to talk comfortably."
"I'm more uncomfortable with only you, Liam." She said plainly and he sighed.
"That is-"
"I thought we were here to talk about the children." Alexandra interrupted, folding her hands and resting back on her chair.
"What are you going to do now that you found out that they are your kids?" She asked.
"I'm going to stay with them."
"Just like that? Did you expect that I would give in to that?" She raised her brows.
"No, I didn't expect you would do that easily. But Alexandra, Jade and Jace have a father and that is me and I would not neglect my fatherly duties."
"Says Liam." She muttered underneath her breath as she scoffed lightly.
"I'm not going to give my children into your custody, not at all. They've grown up without you to this extent and they will keep on growing without your interference. As you know, the only person who is interested is having fun with you is Jade. So I hope you will look for the best way to tell her that you wouldn't be able to interfere in her life."
"That's impossible, Alexa. How can you tell me to stay away from my children?"
"It's my right. I'm their mother and I can say so."
"I'm their father-"
"No!" She shot, "You lost right the day you have me the divorce papers."
"That's why you signed it right? If you had told me that-
"If I have told you that I was pregnant, what would have changed? That would just mean you were keeping me cos of the babies and not because you want me to stay with you. You did your part in my life, Liam and trust me, I haven't even started with yours. I'm going to mess up every inch of your life, bit by bit and it's only going to get worse if you don't stay away from my kids." She warned.
"You want to take revenge?" He asked and she smirked.
"Yes, I do."
"Then I will gladly accept that, but please don't separate me from my kids." He said slowly, his eyes reddening. Alexandra stared at him for a long time, her gaze getting hotter, then she smiled.
"Kids, come say goodbye to your father." She said, knowing that Jace and Jade would be somewhere near. Giving them space to talk was just out of respect. Alexandra was sure the kids would stay somewhere nearby to know what was going on, especially Jade.
She was right! Almost immediately, Jade rushed out from the corner of the stairs.
"But mom, we haven't even played with daddy yet." She whined.
"Daddy doesn't have time to play, okay?" Alexandra said sternly and Jade looked at Liam with a sour face.
"Daddy, you don't want to play with your children?" She asked, pouting her lips and Liam gave Alexa a glance. Alexa raised her brows high, daring him to say otherwise.
"Darling, I have a meeting today," Liam pursed his lips as he took Jade into his arms, "but I'll play with you some other time, okay?"
"No, dad. Come home with us. All my friends parents lives together in one big house." Jade said and Alexandra looked away. Liam knew better.
"I can't live with you right now. But daddy promises, to live with you all one day." He smiled and Alexandra shot him a glance.
"Don't make promises you can't fulfill, Liam." She said as she picked her bag, standing up.
"Kids, I got you a gift. Play with these until daddy comes to take you out, okay?" He said and handed on bag to Jade. She accepted it gleefully and he turned to Jace, handing over the second bag.
"I don't want it." Jace said sternly and Liam bit his lips.
"Little champ, these are game consoles and cartoon puzzles. You sure you don't want it? Don't you love games?" He asked Jace and Jace furrowed his brows. He loved games. In fact,he wanted to be a gamer when he grew up. But he doesn't want anything from Liam.
"Never mind. My mom promised to buy one for me if I pass this term's exams." He said adamantly.
"But if you take this, you wouldn't need to do so much."
"Liam, are you trying to tell him not to be serious with his education?" Alexandra shot immediately and Liam looked up at her.
"No, that's not it." He said quietly and gave the bag to Jade, "Give it to your brother when you get home, okay?"
"Study well, Little Champ. You can play with this and still get another from your mom later on, okay?" He said and Jace just stared at him, before he turned and walked out of the restaurant.
"Jade, let's go." Alexandra held her hand quickly before she rushed out of the restaurant to get Jace.
"Bye daddy." Jade waved.
"Bye sweetheart." Liam muttered as he fell back to his chair. What in the world was he going to do? What did he have to do to keep these kids?
~~~
"Yeah, I can't believe it either." Cassidy said as she rolled her eyes, "What does Liam really think of himself? He wants to keep the kids when he was the one who threw them out in the first place?" She raised her brows as she hit the table.
"That's absurd." She concluded and Alexandra sighed slowly.
"Jade wants him and I don't like that. But Jace is being really cold to him and that's weird too."
"Are you having dementia?" Cassidy touched Alexandra's neck.
"Why?" Alexa hit her hands off.
"So you don't like how Jade warms up to him but you don't want Jace to be cold to him either?"
"I mean, Jade's own is expected but Jace, that's not child like. He's acting too mature and that's scaring me real bad." She confessed and Cassidy pursed her lips.
"Now that I think about it, it's really worrying." She muttered and Alexa sighed deeply, before looking forward.
"I think our food is ready." She stood up to go collect the tray of food.
"Oh my Gosh." She screamed as she bumped into a man holding a cup of coffee from the other side.
"Oh my, I'm really sorry....I had no idea..I'm really..." He stopped talking as he looked into her emerald eyes.
"Wow." He muttered.
