CHAPTER 89
J'onn, try to remain calm." Rickie spoke up the second he hung up.
He shook his head. No way am I going to be calm about this. They stab me in the back and they will have me to contend with.
"I know you're angry but try to keep your sanity. There's nothing worse than taking a dangerous decision when one is angry."
"Quit speaking words into my head, Rickie. I haven't decided anything yet.
"You're sounding so dangerous."
"Not even you can console me this time, Rickie. I am not going to take this lying down."
"See, we don't have enough evidence to make a conclusion. If Ryan was indeed guilty, why on earth would he send you this? What does he hope to achieve by doing so?"
"Exactly, that's why I have to meet him face to face. He definitely owes me a lot of explanation."
"Bonnie wasn't this voluptuous years back. I am so damn certain that the photo is recent. Ryan has been missing. It is highly likely he went to meet her."
"In as much as your suspicions might be correct, do you know that they might be incorrect as well?"
I hope. I really do hope so. Because if I am right, then it is going to be a bad experience."
"Ryan and I have been friends since diapers. I hope you remember that?"
"I used to babysit both of you. You don't need to remind me.".
I had to, just so you will have the concept of what I am experiencing. He walked behind his desk and fell onto the chair.
Rickie followed suit, placing her arms close to the edge of the desk so that she could look at her brother straight.
"Things happen that may lead you to want to think differently but what matters is what you honestly feel."
"I was not friends with Bonnie. I knew her only when she departed, so I have nothing to say about her deeds. But I know you and your ability to draw things that are genuine. Would Bonnie have anything to do with Ryan, knowing that he is your best friend?"
J'onn looked at his sister for a while, not knowing what to say. "You know your child's mother better than anyone. And from the relationship you had with her, do you think she is the kind of person who can do such."
"I don't know what to think. It has been five years."
"Yes I know it has been that long but you saw her recently and you guys had a heart-to-heart conversation. From that, does she seem like one who would have anything to do with Ryan?"
J'onn's heart started racing as he got lost in his head. His head flashed back to when he visited Bonnie at her house in FAREO ISLAND and had sex with her. She was so starved for him and she was so tight like she had never had sex before. He was almost sure that she was still a virgin after giving birth.
Before J'onn could determine what more to say, someone knocked on the door.
This time he did not reply, only the individual on the other side came in. It was Susan.
"Sir, something was found by Mr James. I want you to hear it." She said, approaching the desk with her phone in her hand.
Susan put the phone on speaker and handed it to her boss. "Speak!!" His deep voice was heard.
"We were able to track Master Ryan. He is on the plane home from FAREO ISLAND. His flight would be arriving in 17 minutes."
"Good! Trap him in there and I will be with you shortly. Shut down the airport if you have to."
"Okay, Boss!"
J'onn slammed down the phone and handed it to Susan. "Get the pilot on the line to see if the Jet can be ready to fly within an hour and, if not, book me the next flight available to FAREO ISLAND.
"Yes, sir," Susan said, walking out of J'onn's office.
J'onn got to his feet, suddenly searching for his car keys. They would usually be with the driver but he had been doing a lot of things for himself lately, including driving.
"What's wrong?" Rickie asked, still appearing a bit disoriented. "You heard the conversation."
I get that there is going to be some sort of fight between you and Ryan why the guards are surrounding the airport. But I don't get the booking a flight to FAREO ISLAND part."
"I don't know!" He replied honestly.
"You miss Bonnie!" She accused.
J'onn glared at his sister.
"You do!
"I don't know what's going to happen but should in case I need to go see her," he said, finally finding his car keys.
"I trust Bonnie, but…" he sighed.
"But what?"
"I don't know. I don't know what to think anymore!"
"I should get going. I don't want to miss that bird!"
Before Rickie could say anything else or offer to go along with his brother, J'onn was gone.
The ride to the airport was rough and quiet. J'onn drove as fast as he could so that he would catch up because the airport was quite far from his office. In spite of the fact that the situation here was a complicated one, J'onn did his best from diverting his mind off the series of thoughts that were going through his head while he drove. He was ready to tear Ryan apart but, on the other hand, hoped that this was not the case.
At last, after what felt like an eternity, J'onn arrived at the airport. He quickly received a message from James, telling him where they were.
J'onn exited the car and walked towards the provided description and reached the most extravagant VIP lounge in the airport within three minutes. He could see two of his guards standing outside the room. They both greeted him as he approached them and one of them opened the door for him to go in. And as expected, the huge size lounge room was occupied by James and his so-called best friend who was already tied to a chair. James approached J'onn the moment he came in.
"Sorry, we had to tie him up. He was being obstinate."
"It's okay," J'onn said, glancing at Ryan who was looking too relaxed for a Betrayal.
"I will be outside," said James, and he departed.
Hands in his pocket, J'onn walked with long strides towards where Ryan was bound. Ryan had a sly smile on his face as he watched J'onn move towards him. J'onn could also notice a bruise on the corner of Ryan's lips.
A. chair was already sitting in front of Ryan. J'onn's backside was about to touch it when he changed his mind, approached Ryan, and punched him in the mouth, causing more blood to flow from his lips. He was irritated by Ryan's persistence in smirking at him.
He chuckled painfully. "I hope my dear Bonnie gets to see that you are a violent person as well. No wonder she did the right thing by keeping her daughter away from you."
"You asshole!" J'onn hit him again in the same spot and promptly grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. Even though Ryan was tied up, J'onn was still capable of getting a good grip on him. "Who gave you the permission to speak about my daughter?"
She called me Daddy. It's a pity you will never hear her call you that. By now, all J'onn could see was red. He pushed Ryan from the chair and gave him a few punches in the face. "How bloody dare you talk about my daughter in such a manner?!!!" J'onn cried at the top of his voice with his chest rising and falling, oblivious to the stings he felt on his knuckle.".
"You bastard, never touch me again!"
J'onn froze on his knees, watching Ryan talk with his face tainted by blood stains.
J'onn felt tears well up at the corner of his eyes. Not because he felt any type of sympathy for Ryan but because he could not believe that this was actually happening with someone who he called his brother.
"You've had it all along! Money, fame, luck, good women, and you still had the guts to take Bonnie away from me!!
"What on earth do you mean I took Bonnie away from you? She's always been mine and always will be mine!"
"And what the hell do you mean I had all the fame and money? Aren't you rich and popular too? Don't you have women falling over you too?"
"I do. But you still fucking get an edge over me!!!!!!! " He yelled at the top of his lungs, looking at J'onn with so much anger. "I work so much harder than you but you still get the priority to people.". People will always make me their second and you their first choice.
Women will go for you as their first choice and in case you say no to them, they'll run to me, not because they love me, but because they'll use me as bait to get to you!
"
"And don't you ever dare to claim that Bonnie was always yours? She was never yours. I have always had eyes on her before you even knew that she was working in your company."
"She never loved me but she ran into you when you showed interest in her. Like the world, she liked you better than me."
J'onn could sense his head burning. He could not believe that the man he thought was his best friend had been jealous of him all along and had progressively wished him harm.
"For goodness' sake, Ryan, did you ever tell me that you had a thing for Bonnie or that you had some sort of history with her? Do you think that I would have still chosen to be with her if I knew that you felt for her so deeply?"
"All the advice, the words of comfort from you are all pretence." J'onn spat in contempt.
"I literally tell you every last detail of how my life is falling apart without Bonnie, so you have been behind my back laughing at my despair and having the time of your life?"
"Come on Ryan, at what point in life have I ever threatened you? I open doors to almost all my business contacts and partners, I connect you with every good opportunity that I come across, not that I do count favors but you know deep down that I do plenty for you. Why on earth do you hate me so much?"
"I am not going to be influenced by your words. You are still a very bad person!"
"You are a monster! I don't even know you anymore!" He said, staring down at Ryan who was seated on the floor. J'onn was already on his feet. The picture you sent me! Is it fake isn't it?" J'onn insisted, though he sort of already knew the answer to the question.
