Chapter 34 BRUISED AND EXPOSED
Godiva POV
The hall became a mess in that instant. Students gathered around, some cheering, others shouting.
Dina was able to take down one girl, I took out two when I received a hard knock to my back.
I felt the pain on my spine as I struggled to breathe. Then— Bang, I punched the girl in her nose, and she bled out as she cried for help.
It seemed my actions enraged the rest as they rushed at us, and in seconds, Dina and I were at a disadvantage.
I looked desperately around the hall, hoping the security in charge of the trip would come to intervene, or if Leo was around to keep his slut in check, but then the most humiliating turn of events unfolded.
Amanda smacked me hard across my face, and I saw stars.
Dina wasn’t even exempted, one girl pulled her scalp so hard as if she wanted to disconnect it from the socket.
Someone whispered something into Amanda’s ear, and she signalled her minions to stop the assault.
They all left me battered and embarrassed on the floor as they fled the scene. Shortly after, the security came into the hall.
“What the hell happened here?” an obviously upset trip security asked as he adjusted his baton and ran towards us.
The onlookers left the hall one after the other, nobody was willing to take the fall for an issue that didn’t concern them.
“It’s nothing, sir,” I tried to dismiss it, but the security wasn’t having any of that.
“Where is your winner’s trophy? And why is your friend in this state?” I knew there was no getting out of this now.
If the matter escalated, Amanda might probably bribe her way through, but I didn’t have such luxury.
My mother was poor, and I had put Dina into this awkward situation.
I turned to Dina, and for the first time, I could sense her hateful stare.
Dina had never shot me such a look, and I got it. I should have listened to her. I should have respected myself and pleaded for my medal. I should have avoided trouble at all cost.
“Get up, let me get you girls treated. After which you will be interrogated by the trip manager, and we will definitely get to the bottom of this,” he said.
“Sir, please, just let us go,” Dina finally spoke.
“If we go through interrogation, we will probably face the school panel. And if the matter goes south, we will be suspended, if not expelled. Please, sir,” Dina pleaded further.
“So you girls were fighting, right?”
“No, sir, we were being bullied.”
“By who?”
“Sir… please, sir… you know the rules of bullies. If you talk, you get yourself in more trouble.” Dina held her ground steadfastly.
I just stared at Dina as she negotiated for the both of us. I totally understood that my stubbornness had cost us a great deal this time. And even if we managed to get away from the hands of the trip security, there was no guarantee that we wouldn’t fall into the hands of Amanda and her gang of bullies again.
When the security saw how Dina pleaded, he finally relaxed a little. “It’s fine, ladies. I won’t take you to the panel, but at least come with me, let’s get these wounds treated.”
“Thank you so much, sir! We are forever in your debt,” Dina replied enthusiastically as she bowed slightly, limping in excitement.
The trip security just shook his head slightly. He then said some words that lit our spirit.
“You know you could confide in me, right?” he whispered.
He glanced around to check if any of the students followed closely or if there was anyone paying attention to his conversation.
“Alright, ladies, I was bullied when I was a kid, and ever since then I have vowed never to allow such to happen under my watch. You can talk to me. I’ll make sure I handle the situation with diplomacy and wisdom,” he added.
I glanced at Dina, and she looked back at me.
“No need, sir. We can handle it ourselves,” I tried to speak, but Dina frowned.
“Why are you always this stubborn and foolish? You were the one that got us in trouble. Now we’ve gotten help, and you want to throw it away?” Dina blurted those words without hesitation.
She didn’t care if the words hurt me.
I guessed I deserved it. Dina had been nothing but good to me, and I still found a way of getting her in trouble.
She turned to the trip security. “Sir, it’s Amanda.”
“Amanda? Who’s Amanda?”
“Amanda Griffith. The one always in pink. The one with the Rolls Royce.”
“I don’t really keep track of students’ possessions or outfits,” the security stammered, then he paused, looking terrified. “Did you just say Griffith… you mean Griffith’s daughter?”
“Yeah… ye… yes, sir, is there a problem?” I asked in confusion. Dina’s face looked pale.
“How… how did you girls manage to offend such a big shot?” he asked in confusion.
“I… we…” I wanted to speak, but the words couldn’t come out. I didn’t know what to say. Dina was quiet the whole time.
“Anyway, I’ll get you girls treated, but your safety… I can’t guarantee that. I’ll suggest you go and bow to her in apology. You are all young kids. The issue might be settled in seconds… far easier, don’t you think?” the security tried to advise us like a father.
At this point, Dina and I just kept mute till we reached the entrance of the clinic.
The nurses attended to us, and the security left.
“I’m so sorry, Di… I should have listened to you. I shouldn’t have dragged you into this mess,” I said, holding onto Dina’s blouse, pouting my lips. “Please say something, guy.”
Dina finally laughed. “It’s okay, guy. I can’t stay mad at you for long, and you know that.”
The nurse interrupted our happy reunion.
“Someone is here to see you,” the nurse chorused.
My chest tightened at that remark. Who the hell came for me at the clinic? I feared it might be Amanda.
This was a public clinic, no way in hell would she want to confront me in this place.
I turned to Dina as I tried to read her expression, but she was completely unreadable.
