Chapter 146 CALM BEFORE THE TRAP

Chapter 146 CALM BEFORE THE TRAP
Godiva's POV

“Who is that?” Mama barked impatiently, but the person didn't respond. As she walked toward the door, she discovered it was the mailman.

“A package for Godiva, ma'am. It says here...” the mailman announced.

I hurried over and grabbed the carton. As I pried it open, I read the note inside in a whisper.

«Welcome back, my princess. I hope you had fun on your voyage, and I genuinely hope we get to enjoy one fun joyride in the coming days.

Yours affectionately,
Slosh.»

“Now who the hell is Slosh? Is that a name you people call yourselves?” Mama questioned suspiciously.

“Yes, Mama. You don't need to worry about it,” I replied quickly, grabbing the gift box and shoving it into one of the empty drawers.

I knew she was referring to Jerald, but I didn't even have the energy to explain anything.

I spent the rest of the week trying my best to avoid Slosh, but luck wasn't on my side. He kept sticking to me like a bird to a feather, leaving Jerald and me without the slightest opportunity to even hold hands, which only made me crave Jerald even more.

On one occasion, I used the restroom as an excuse to see Jerald, only to be startled by Slosh waiting just outside for me. I figured he probably suspected Jerald and I were back together, so Jerald and I decided to put on a little drama that would shake the entire school on Thursday.

During Thursday's break, while Slosh and I were chatting, he was busy bragging about his mates at the school he would soon be returning to when Jerald suddenly walked over.

“Div, can I speak with you for a minute?” he requested, his voice unusually calm.

Ignoring him completely, I continued laughing with Slosh as though Jerald wasn't even there.

“Div, I said can I speak to you for a minute?” Jerald repeated, his desperation becoming more obvious.

I was just about to respond when, thankfully, Lis and Leo walked into the classroom.

“Jerald, I need to talk to you,” Lis called out as she stopped behind him.

“You heard her. Leave me alone. I'm busy, as you can clearly see,” I shot back sharply, flashing Slosh a smile and motioning for him to continue his rather boring story.

“Jerald, I don't know what this slut has done to you that you can't seem to forget her,” Leo sneered, glaring at me with open disgust.

“Shut your trap, you pathetic simp!” I snapped, springing to my feet in fury.

“Who are you calling a simp?” Leo challenged, his voice wavering slightly as he turned to my classmates for support.

Our class had obviously been starved of drama lately.

The moment voices began rising, everyone abandoned whatever they were doing.

Some pulled out their phones, while others crowded around us, eagerly cheering the confrontation on.

As the argument escalated, I caught Lis discreetly giving Slosh a thumbs-up, which he returned without hesitation.

I can't believe I was blind enough not to notice this sooner, I thought bitterly, scoffing inwardly.

“Damn you, Diva... daaaamn you,” I muttered beneath my breath as I realised how much I had unknowingly played right into their hands.

How blind could one girl possibly be?

Meanwhile, the confrontation between Leo and Jerald was beginning to take a darker turn.

I genuinely hoped it wouldn't escalate from heated words into an all-out fight.

“Who's a simp?” Leo barked furiously.

“You, of course,” I fired back without hesitation. “Just like the perfect simp, you chose to become Lis's obedient servant simply because Dina and I humiliated you.”

I laughed openly, and several classmates joined in.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Jerald fighting desperately to suppress a smile.

“And you,” I continued, turning to Jerald, “I've warned you to stay away from me. Stop sulking and go follow your tramp.”

With that, I stormed out of the classroom.

“You killed it, my girl!” Dina squealed excitedly, grabbing my hands and shaking them as she caught up with me outside.

“Who knew those two would show up and make the performance even better?” I chuckled as we headed toward the mart together.

“I panicked the moment I saw Lis and Leo entering the classroom,” Dina admitted in a hushed, excited voice as we picked items from the shelves. “I almost stepped in, but then I realised a queen is always a queen.”

All thanks to the drama, I could easily convince Slosh that I was still furious, which was why he didn't pressure me to ride on his bike as we had previously planned.

“Finally, I get to be with Jerald without pretending,” I sighed in relief as I tossed my bag onto the yellow futon at one end of Dina's room.

“I'm beginning to get anxious,” Dina confessed, exhaling slowly.

“Don't worry, sis. We aren't the villains here. God won't let this plan backfire because we're only trying to beat them at their own game,” I reassured her confidently as I stretched across her bed with another relieved sigh.

The next morning at school, I made sure to wear my brightest smile around Slosh to keep him from suspecting what was about to happen.

“Hope you'll be at the cafeteria this afternoon,” Slosh said, tapping me lightly from behind before taking the seat beside me.

“Why? Is something supposed to happen there?” I asked innocently.

“Nothing that isn't supposed to happen,” he replied with a mischievous grin.

“I personally have a problem with that cafeteria, but anything for you,” I replied sweetly, catching Jerald winking at me from across the classroom.

Classes that day felt unusually long as time seemed to crawl.

I anxiously waited for 2 p.m., when lunch break would finally arrive, but it felt as though more than ten days had passed before the clock finally struck.

“Finally, it's action time,” Dina whispered excitedly, linking her arm through mine as we walked toward the cafeteria.

“How about we sit together?” Slosh offered warmly, extending his hand toward me the moment I stepped into the cafeteria.
