Chapter 144 OPENING HIS LETTER

Chapter 144 OPENING HIS LETTER
Godiva's POV

Pouring out the contents of the gift bag, I smiled broadly in disbelief at everything inside.

“There’s a letter,” Dina announced excitedly, handing me a neatly folded handwritten note, which read:

> My dearest treasure,

As much as I’d love to fill this paper with apologies, I have to resist because this is a congratulatory present for reaching the final stage of the math competition. I stayed with you, I saw how you gave your all while preparing for the competition, and I know justice was perverted. I also know justice will prevail in the end. I’ve already imagined you in the elite class, and I can’t wait to see you there.

In the package, I got you the Xbox you’ve always wanted so you could finally beat me in a dance competition. I really hope we get to compete with this Xbox, but even if we don’t, I hope you enjoy dancing with it.

Lastly, the necklace I put in there for you is a symbol of my love. I’m with the other half, and if you think there’s hope for us to ever reconcile, even if you feel the slightest affection for me, please wear it to school. But if not, you can get rid of it.

On a lighter note, you know you can’t be my ex again because it’s already attached to your name... Diva X.

Congratulations, my woman. I love you.

“Wow!” I exclaimed, heaving a sigh of relief as I gently picked up the necklace from the bed.

“Jerald is such a man,” Dina remarked with an approving smile.

Guilt washed over me as I admired the beautiful necklace he had gifted me.

“I shouldn’t have dragged this issue with him for so long,” I admitted regretfully.

“It was just a phase. Thank goodness it didn’t last forever,” Dina replied reassuringly, smiling at me.

That night, after Dina left, I lay in bed for hours, but sleep refused to come. Countless thoughts kept running through my mind.

Deep into the night, I played some soothing music as I smiled at the gifts Jerald had given me. Lost in those thoughts, I eventually drifted off to sleep.

I woke up unusually excited on Monday morning. I wasn't just excited about beginning the final lap of eleventh grade, I was excited because, once again, I would get to be with Jerald in class, and this time, on much better terms.

“Oh shit, I forgot I have to pretend to be pissed at Jerald for this whole week,” I groaned, stamping my foot in frustration as I grabbed my bag and dashed out of the room.

“Why do you look pissed on the first day of school when you're supposed to be excited?” Dina asked curiously the moment I stepped outside.

“I can't be excited when I won't be talking to my Bling in school for the whole week,” I lamented, sounding utterly defeated.

“Oh, I almost forgot,” Dina mocked, laughing mischievously. “As for me, I'm thrilled I get to be with my man. Jeez, how I missed him,” she gushed, walking ahead of me.

“Wait up, help me fix this,” I called, quickening my pace to catch up with her.

“What is that?” Dina asked, turning to face me.

“This,” I replied, handing her the necklace Jerald had gifted me.

“There you go,” she said after fastening it around my neck. “Jerald truly has an eye for beautiful things. It looks perfect on you,” she added admiringly as we strolled toward school.

As usual, the school looked different. It always did whenever we resumed after a break. The school wasn't the only thing that had changed. The students looked different too, with new hairstyles, uniforms, shoes, bags, and even new phones.

As for Dina and me, the only things different about us were the new boots and bags Mama had gotten us as welcome-back gifts.

“Baby!” Dina squealed excitedly the second she spotted Ben walking in from the opposite end of the hallway.

“Oh, great... snitching,” I muttered under my breath as I watched her throw herself into Ben's arms.

“I've missed you,” I faintly heard her whisper as I walked into the classroom.

The moment I entered the classroom, I found Jerald already seated quietly at his desk, looking unusually composed.

A part of me wished I could run into his arms the way Dina had done with Ben, but too many anxious eyes were fixed on me. I could feel everyone watching as I walked past Jerald. I was certain they were all waiting to see whether we'd acknowledge each other.

“Oh great, you guys still haven't settled your differences? Come on now,” Isaac, the class junkie, complained dramatically.

“Mind your business, Isaac,” I shot back nonchalantly.

“Whatever, dude,” he scoffed, shrugging as he jogged out of the classroom.

I quietly settled into my seat, stealing glances at Jerald whenever no one was paying attention. We exchanged silent smiles, and at one point, he secretly blew me a kiss. My heart skipped a beat as I quickly looked around, terrified someone might have seen it.

“My girl!” Dina called excitedly as she rushed into the classroom.

“Shut up, Judas,” I snapped, pretending to still be upset with her.

“I’m sorry. I missed my man so much,” Dina pleaded, attempting to hug me.

“Don’t even think about it,” I warned, fixing her with a sharp glare.

“I don’t think you should have a problem with her jumping on her man. You can always do that with me,” Slosh’s irritating voice came from behind.

“Action,” Dina whispered, and immediately, I forced a smile onto my face.

“Quiet, everyone!” the Math teacher thundered as he walked into the classroom with a stack of notes in his hands.

“I’ll be pairing you all in twos,” he announced firmly. “This will be your first assignment for the academic session. I need each of you to pick a partner. You’ll work on the class exercise together, then take this assignment home and complete it during your spare time.”

“Hope everyone’s present,” he added, sweeping his gaze across the classroom before stopping directly on me.

Why the hell was he looking in my direction? I wondered, shifting uneasily in my seat.

Then it suddenly dawned on me.

Slosh was supposed to be seated beside me, but his seat was still empty.

“Where is Slosh?” I whispered, turning to Dina.

The moment the words left my mouth, a figure appeared at the classroom door and casually walked in.

Damn... it was Slosh.

The instant I spotted him, my heart began pounding unevenly because I genuinely had no idea how I was supposed to react.
