Chapter 172 Shifting the Position
The villa gate stood wide open, and inside it was dead quiet.
"Search! Search everywhere carefully!" Luca jumped out of the car and rushed into the villa, his voice full of worry and anger.
His men spread out right away and searched the whole place.
Luca headed straight for the living room. No sign of Olivia or Leo. His heart sank.
"Boss, we found something!" one of his men yelled from a room.
Luca ran over and saw a small jacket in the drawer and a hairpin tucked in the corner of the closet. His eyes widened.
It was Leo's jacket, and the hairpin Olivia always wore!
"They've been moved!" Luca gripped the hairpin tight, his knuckles turning white. "Ask the neighbors if they've seen which way they went!"
His men went to question the locals and came back quick. "Boss, the villagers said half an hour ago, a black SUV took a man, a woman, and a little boy deeper into the mountains!"
"Chase them!" Luca ordered without a second thought. "Turn this mountain upside down if we have to—we're getting Olivia and Leo back!"
The convoy took off again. Headlights sliced through the dark mountain night as they sped in the direction the locals pointed.
Luca sat in his car, eyes steady and cold.
Jason, you better hope Olivia and Leo are okay. Otherwise, you'll pay a heavy price.
Meanwhile, the car Olivia was in bounced along a rough mountain road.
Leo was still crying. Olivia held him close, her heart hurting, and quietly gave him a bit of warm water.
"Baby, don't cry. Mommy's here," she whispered.
Leo leaned into her arms and slowly stopped crying, but he still looked scared.
Olivia swore to herself she'd get Leo out of this place fast.
The car drove for about half an hour and finally pulled up at the spot.
It was a standalone wooden cabin, even more hidden than the villa, with guards everywhere.
Olivia's heart sank. This place looked harder to escape than before.
After getting out, a bodyguard came up to her quietly. "Ma'am, I know you don't want to stay here," he said in a low voice.
Olivia was startled and eyed him warily. "What do you want?"
"I know Mr. Compson's type well," the bodyguard said. "The harder it is to get something, the more he obsesses. If you act like you hate him and push back on purpose, he might get bored after a while and let you go."
Olivia was surprised. She didn't expect help from this guy.
"Why help me?" she asked.
"I can't stand what he's doing," the bodyguard sighed. "And he studied psychology not to help others, but to fix himself. He had bad trauma as a kid—that's why he's like this."
Olivia froze. She'd never known Jason had that kind of past.
No wonder he's so obsessive. It all adds up.
"Got it. Thanks," Olivia said.
She felt bad for Jason's past, but it didn't excuse him holding her and Leo against their will.
Inside the cabin, an attendant brought food.
Olivia asked quickly, "Where's Jason?"
The attendant's eyes darted, and he mumbled, "Mr. Compson's out on business. Back soon."
Olivia knew he was lying and got more on guard.
Jason's up to something. She had to watch out.
Leo tugged her shirt and whispered, "Mommy, I'm scared. I want Uncle Lo."
Olivia rubbed his head gently. "Don't be afraid, baby. Mommy will get us out and find Uncle Lo."
She knew she could only count on herself and Luca now.
She hoped Luca would track them down soon and get them out.
Soon, Jason pushed the door open in outdoor gear, looking full of energy.
"Where were you?" Olivia asked.
Jason grinned. "What, missing me already?"
Olivia skipped his joke. "I need to talk to you."
"Sure," Jason said. "Let's go to the terrace."
They stepped out onto the terrace. The evening breeze brought a chill.
"What is it?" Jason asked.
"I've heard about your past," Olivia said, looking at him. "I know about the trauma you had as a kid, and that you studied psychology to save yourself."
Jason's face went cold fast. "Who told you?"
"Doesn't matter," Olivia said. "Your story is sad, but it doesn't give you the right to hold me and Leo like this. Let us go, and we can act like nothing happened."
Jason went quiet for a few seconds. "I'm doing this because I like you. I know my way's wrong, but I can't lose you."
"Liking someone isn't owning them," Olivia shot back. "This just makes me hate you more."
"I don't care," Jason said. "I'll protect you and Leo. You can live here safe."
He ignored her words and went on. "Dinner's ready—all your and Leo's favorites. We'll eat together."
Olivia looked at his stubborn face and felt helpless.
Talking more wouldn't work. He was stuck in his own head.
She could only hope Luca got there quick to save her and Leo.
At dinner, Jason had a table full of good food, all stuff Olivia and Leo liked.
But Olivia had no appetite and just took a few bites.
Leo was too scared to eat much.
Jason watched them, feeling down, but kept piling food on their plates.
"Eat more," he said. "Fresh ingredients here—good for you."
Olivia stayed quiet, thinking, Luca's probably on the road by now, right?
